The property location is right in the center of old town. You can walk to any part of the city in 15-20 mins.
The staff were great and went above and beyond. The building is really cool, being so old and historical.
The local Il Duomo is a short 5 min walk and Can be seen from most of the rooms in the hotel.

The hotel is very well located, it's possible to park in the center after check in. The location of the check in is not exactly on the hotel address.
The bad was really not comfortable.

Everything was great - right on Duomo Square, close to most of the sights, easy access to food, great free breakfast, accommodating staff, comfortable room...except the hard bed.

Excellent location, good hotel, nice room, but unfortunately the screeching of chairs and furniture in the room upstairs prevented me from properly sleeping three nights out of four. I ended up sleeping next to the bathroom on my last night... The screeching could be prevented by carpeting the rooms.

Lovely view onto Piazza Sordello and the window did a great job at blocking the sound of late-night buskers.

The residence was delightfully central and it was a joy to go straight out into the main square. It was difficult to find and going to Via Accademia 20 was not helpful. As reception and the breakfast room is shared with Hotel Gonzaga it is ridiculous not to be sent there in the first place. Fortunately we had an Italian driver who eventually sorted it out. We were on the third floor. The room had character and lovely beams but you had to mind your head. The lift was ropey and gave up on a Sunday: fortunately it was mended early on Monday so we did not have to carry our cases down. The breakfast was excellent (including fresh strawberries and cherries) and proper coffee was ordered and brought to the table.

We found the address of our hotel and we were re-directed to another hotel where we registered and then taken to a 3rd hotel! No-one else seemed to be there. No facilities such as a lobby or drinks; just a room. We had pre-paid. And no breakfast ordered. On the plus side the location was good and the room clean. The small overhead shower was antiquated and attached solidly to the wall. The wifi codes either did not work (even the young receptionist gave up) or when we did discover a convoluted way to get on line it was spasmodic. But Mantova itself was amazing
2.0 / 5.0
Wonderful location right in the centre of the old city, good size bedroom, large bathroom and nice outdoor deck area at roof height. Only downsides were air conditioning not working in bedroom (apparently controlled from Hotel reception but no info to communicate this) and flat batteries in tv remote. Also, guests need to be aware that checkin for Residenza Accademia is at Hotel dei Gonzaga Reception.

The facilities in this hotel were good for the price. There was a good shower, bed was comfortable and in a good location in the centre of mantua. However the initial location of the hotel is an entrance to a car park which leas to another hotel and the room was in another location which is a little strange.
