After a loooong drive is was greeted by a grumpy and rather rude gentleman that I
Later found out to be the owner. Given that this welcome was so poor, I chose to not stay and didn’t set foot in the property.

Booked Baldwin House for a stay over as we booked a family trip to West Midlands Safari Park with myself my wife, 4 year old and 6 month year old baby
Having visited the park during the day and had dinner we headed to the hotel at approximately 10pm not knowing last check in was at 8pm as this wasn't made obvious - an easy oversight.
I called the hotel when we got there as it looked closed and the phone was answered by the owner Dave with a very rude Yes!?. I ignored this, and asked why the hotel was closed and he began to rudely explain how the hotel in closes at 8pm and I am lucky he is even answering the phone! So I apologised profusely to which he said, Yes you should be! he then said you are lucky you have a baby with you and proceeded to disconnect the call!
He then came down and opened the door and shouted at me saying "Where's the rest of them!" at the point I felt I had been disrespected enough and was ready to turn back or find another hotel, but had to think of my 6 month old.
We then grabbed our things and came to the front desk where matters got worse! He saw my 2 children and said the rooms only booked for 1 child! and I explained I can show him the booking, he said "You can show me what you want, I don't care!". After 5 mins he realised that I was correct and the booking was for 2 children on his system. He then said I didn't book with Hotels.com and told me I booked with expedia! I said the booking comes across as Expedia but he called me a liar!

I stayed for one night to judge at a nearby show. This is a period listed building with a lovely breakfast room, a friendly owner and a delightful Spaniel puppy. I had a standard single en suite room as I was on a tight budget. It was basic, but fine for me for one night. It had a good TV with plenty of choice of channels. There is a very welcome room fridge, so I was happy with that. There are nice places to eat within easy walking distance and it is close to the very picturesque canal basin.
The breakfast was nice - £9.50 extra.
Slight frustrations - parking is difficult on the street outside if there is a function in the nearby RBL Hall. However, I moved my car there in the morning to load up so not an issue. There is a free car park about 200m away.
The power cord in the shower had broken, so no hot water as I could not reach the control, so could not shower. I explained this to the owner, and I do not think he knew about it, so I feel sure that he will have fixed it by now.
The pine-slatted bed was a bit creaky, but actually very comfortable for me, so I had a good night's sleep.

Most welcoming and convivial. Room clean and comfortable with replenished refreshments each day - the upgrade to a bedroom with an en suite was a most unexpected bonus. Coming and going as one pleased made it feel very homely. Grateful thanks.

Very clean, very friendly staff they make you feel welcome. Had a lovely gift off them for my birthday and had everything you need in your room, highly recommended will be going again soon.

Very mixed- proprietor and his dog are lovely, but the bathroom in the family room is awful. Tiny outdated shower cubicle with leaks onto the floor, cracked old yellowing sealant and a tired wonky loo that flushed on third try. The main areas (bedroom floor etc) were perfectly clean but plenty of dusty corners/ under chairs/ door panel edges to notice and feel a bit ‘ugh’ about. Broken light shade. The food however was delicious. Overall not worth the 100 a night with breakfast on top.

The room was what I wanted and the breakfast was great. It was close to the Stourport basin so it was easy to walk around the locks, canals and town.

Fabulous hospitality in a period property in a very pretty town. We had a peaceful nights sleep and a delicious, freshly cooked, butchers sourced breakfast. Thank you Dave!

Dave is very helpful and friendly, and "goes the extra mile". Baldwin House is a lovely Georgian building, and the view of the garden made a super breakfast even more enjoyable. We both fell in love with Dave's beautiful, well-behaved spaniel.....What a poppet!

Overall gentleman was nice. The bin in bathroom was full. There was a used razor in the shower. Breakfast good. But lot of clutter and stock in the dining room. Which is a shame as its a very nice room. Sheets seemed clean but d marks on them.

Lovely stay from the start to finish.Dave was friendly, attentive and very helpful. The house of historical interest is well presented with two bars and restaurant and is located near to the town centre. The room was lovely, spacious and comfortable. The bed was extremely comfortable, nice work fest and rest area with a mini fridge and little microwave oven. The WIFI is super fast and reliable for work and pleasure. The bathroom was clean and spacious, unfortunately the spa function on the bath was not working (Dave advised me of this on arrival) but there was plenary of hot water for a bath or for the separate powerful rain shower.I will be looking forward to my next stay at The Baldwin Hose.

Dave contacted me prior to arriving and was so accommodating on arrival at the property. I made an error when booking and Dave was fine with this and altered my error immediately. We had the balcony room with a lovely 4 poster bed, it was lovely and clean and the road was a lot quieter than expected. Breakfast was made to order, fresh and hot when it arrived. Definitely be returning

The single room was tiny, so much so walking around the bed, I kept walking into the frame, so ended up with bruises. Should not be charging 47.50 including breakfast.... Decor is really poorly done. Do not stay here if you are booking a single room

Nice welcome from Dave, helpful chap. Great facilities and super breakfast. Well worth the cost and in a good location

I stayed in a single room, small but adequate and everything provided, towels, soaps, shampoos, fridge, fan and shower room/toilet. Its a pretty chilled atmosphere in this period feel property. Reception was perfect. Very nice soft bed, never heard a sound all night.
Would definitely stay again....
