This is our third annual time here, paused by covid. Generally easy to get there from train station via public bus. Massage is awesome, meals are delicious, amenities generous, best part is in-room private onsen w view of bamboo, other trees. Pricey but we splurge staying here

Best staff

This was the best experience I have had with a hotel. Staff and service are unmatched, as well as their attention to detail and thoughtfulness. Room was clean and spacious and the private onsen was an amazing experience.

We had an amazing time at Kinnotake Tonosawa - the experience from beginning to end was excellent. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating throughout the stay, and went above and beyond to make sure we got back to Odawara station for our Shinkansen reservation. The accommodations were top notch and the private room onsen was perfect. The multi-course dinner and breakfast services were amazing dining experiences and the chefs accommodated our food preferences. Highly recommend this property!
4.7
The property has some great points to it, top-notch facility, beautiful aesthetics, Bazar, delightful and very clean. The staff works incredibly hard, but also is challenged a bit, no bartender during the evening, hard to get dinner times, just some simple things that I think with proper leadership and management could be fixed. Clearly, the weekday staff seem to be more talented than the weekend staff, but they all tried very hard. I would recommend the hotel, but we also went during cherry blossom season, and the price did not match the value.

My partner and I had an unbelievable time at this hotel and it exceeded our expectations. The staff were friendly, attentive and kind. We truly enjoyed our time and plan to return soon! Shout out to Sei for taking excellent care of us!

Amazing and attentive service!!
4.7
overall enjoyable stay, the food is a highlight. There were a few hiccups with service along the way. If reliant on public transport to get there it can be a bit complicated. Only downside is the hotel is right next to a road and railway line so there is notable traffic noise (no different to any of the other hotels in the area). The spa services were 10/10.

Everything was fantastic, but recommend getting there by taxi and pre-book taxi.

Absolute tranquility, wonderful food, incredibly hospitable staff. And the onsen!!! Loved it. Worth every cent.

My stay at this hotel was an absolute delight from start to finish. The hospitality was top-notch, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure I felt welcomed and valued throughout my visit. The ryokan experience wasn't traditional but was still relaxing and worth it. My favorite part during this stay was their cuisine. Their breakfast and kaiseki meals were a culinary masterpiece!

Easy to get to once you find the right bus from the train station (Odawara or Hakone-Yumoto). Staff will greet you just after you cross the bridge and start the check in process. We went during cherry blossom season so there was a seasonal welcome drink we tried.
The room we had was amazing, the lady that checked us in kindly gave a tour of the room and made sure we had everything we needed before letting us settle in. Everything was clean, the in-room onsen was great. You cannot see any other guests around you but if you have a particularly noisy neighbour you may hear them. I can imagine in the summer the view from the in-room onsen will be even better with some of the hydrangeas blooming. They also provide yukatas for you to wear along with instructions on how to put them on properly.
Both breakfast and dinner were delicious. Their menu changes slightly daily so if you do stay multiple nights you don't have to eat the exact same thing. When food is brought to you they will give a quick explanation of the dish. We were lucky to be seated by the window for all our meals, so got to enjoy food while looking out at the gorgeous greenery.

We loved the beautiful setting and excellent service. It was nice to have our own soaking tub on our balcony. The staff helped with our transportation plans too.

Absolutely fantastic experience, the service was top-class coupled with amazing views and onsen. Had a wonderful time and will definitely go back again.

Super relax experience .
Easy to reach .
Unbeatable taste.
Food and drinks are satisfying .

The service in this hotel was good. They serve you a drink and snack at check in. Lady can choose their own yukata.
The room looks very modern and wooden. However, I booked the Take (bamboo) room and expected to see bamboo from my room but half of the view was normal leafless tree, the other half was bamboo so I was a bit disappointed.
All drinks in the hotel fridge are free.
The hotel is very near a busy road so you can hear a lot of cars driving through, it's especially noisy when it rains too so wasn't a total relaxed onsen stay.
They have a small menu of drinks you can order near the reception and it's free. You can either drink it there or bring it up to your room.
You can't take those drinks into the dining area though.
The food was good but not the best, we got to try cod milt and fugu tempura though which we would never order if we are at a restaurant.
A nice touch they have in the evening by the reception balcony, they have sparklers for hotel guests to light which was very cute.

We had two Shizuku rooms, one for my wife and me and the other for our two adult sons. The place was beautiful, and its service was perfect. I will go back again.

Awesome breakfast - better than the breakfast during my recent stay at Hoshinoya Karuizawa.
Nice amenities.
Love the private onsen - at the right temperature

Room has great privacy and very cozy bed. Staff are super helpful and friendly. Food was great. The overall experience was definitely top notch!

Hotel itself is great, and location is good also. But quite close to the road, so not very quite in the night. Hotel hire a lot of Chinese staff, think maybe have a lot of Chinese customers. But obviously these Chinese staffs didn’t have well trained. You can tell the detail of the service is not the same standard if you have been to a lot of same style onsen hotel in Japan. The food is above average, but not the TOP level.

Nice & quiet place. Comfortable, clean, food is really good.

Absolutely amazing trip. The private Ibsen was so great. All the staff were very helpful. The food was exquisite. We were well spoilt and looked after. What a beautiful secluded and peace filled setting too.

Room amenity, clean and you can relax. The outside Private bath was amazing!

.Really enjoyed our private onsen The room was great and the dinner was fantastic.
4.7
The hotel and staff were amazing. The rooms are traditionally styled with modern touches and each room is equipped with a private onsen. The hotel also offers a traditional Japanese dinner, which was excellent.

Fabulous modern onsen hotel.

Kinnotake Tonosawa is right across from the Dayama bus stop. We took the bus from Hakone Yumoto station directly to the hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful. It has a Japanese modern style with bamboo in neutral tones. We stayed in a room with a private onsen that overlooked a bamboo garden. It was stunning. The beds were comfortable and the shower was beautiful. Included in our stay was a traditional japanese dinner and breakfast. We opted for Western style breakfast, though Japanese breakfast was also an option. Overall, it was a very memorable stay and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. I would definitely recommend this property to others considering Hakone. The value, however, in peak season is limited and in these cases I would recommend only one night.
4.7
This is a very good hotel. Everything was of the best quality: the service, the room, the food. Plus, the option of being able to soak in your room’s private hot water spring bath, after a day of doing the Hakone round way was magnificent.
We would like to recommend this hotel for straying while in Hakone area.
There is no problem arriving the hotel from Hakone-Yumoto, both shuttle bus and regular buses stops near the hotel.
