You get what you pay for. But the star-ranking is not comparable with accommodations in the USA. This is not a 2 1/2 star hotell. Cleanliness in the shared bathrooms and shared dormitory is way bellow a standard I am willing to accept. The bungalows are ok. The staff is very nice, they play great music. They have good food to order. The beach is fine. Kayaks are available and that was great.

This is my second visit to this idyllic spot in Moorea. A family run group of budget rustic cottages on the lagoon next door to the Hilton. The onsite restaurant serves very high quality food and a simple breakfast is included. The hotel sits oceanfront on a beautiful area of the lagoon with rays, sharks and fish cruising by all day. Air conditioned rooms which is rare in Tahiti and kayaks included, good for family on a budget.

The host was awesome and the location was perfect. It was quite and close to the ocean.

Charged too much tax for this property.

Great beachfront! Free kayak! Laundry service was awesome. Friendly workers! Price is just accurate. They offered us their French Polynesian dishes. The fishes and white rice with coconut milk were very delicious! We would love to come back. Until next time! ❤️

Great small quiet beach and covered area overlooking ocean. Rustic bungalows that are commensurate with the price. Good for budget conscious families. Our bungalow (closest to road) had a queen sized bed, set of bunk beds, and an upstairs loft that could also sleep 2 additional people. Functional kitchenette with fridge/freezer. Place had lots of open closets and storage shelves. Due to us checking in on day restaurant was closed, absolute minimum interaction with staff. Tip: the Thai take-away restaurant close by is great and best meal deals on Moorea

This is a family run pension with friendly staff, set on a picturesque private beach. The fish swim right up to the shore, there are comfortable chairs and tables on the beach and a stunning view of the sunset each night. The accomodation is basic but clean. The restaurant has wonderful platters/tapas and an excellent drink selection. You need a vehicle to access the supermarket and ATM. We would return again.

Location, location, location! Fare Maheata has the best snorkeling from their beach. See tons of fish, stingrays, and even reef sharks. Also enjoy a stunning sunset right from their beach.

Amazing View!! The staff is incredible..
Good breakfast.
Tehu was super helpful. Ask for Sophie is you need hotel transfer she was super knowledgeable about the island and helpful. The room is basic but super clean, the bed is comfy.
I can not wait to be back.
Merci

On a budget this place gets 5 stars! The location is gorgeous and the staff really friendly. The only drawback is transportation, but that's the entire island not this pensions issue. Best to rent a car or scooter for Moorea period.

Loved every second of it. The property itself is so serene and beautiful…right on the beach. The coral right in front of the restaurant was some of the best we saw in all of Moorea, with sharks and rays and colorful reef fish just off shore. The restaurant is exceptional. The rooms are simple but clean and include a kitchen that helps to save money on meals (French Polynesia can be expensive). All of the staff were helpful and welcoming, especially the maintenance guy who helped us with all our needs. We definitely plan to return.

Only stay here if you are truly on a budget and want to share everything with other guests. The shared dormitory is full with mosquitoes, has no air conditioning. Their bookings are non refundable for a reason. The property had a nice view though.

Amazing location and very comfortable bed. I suggest you bring your own pillow. Very, very basic place. Minimal breakfast but still nice. Best to have a car if you stay here. Staff was very friendly and nice.

At Fare Maheata my kids and I felt so safe. The kids were epic the water all the time. Breakfast was simple but so appreciated. We had issues with ants in our bungalow but learned to live with them. I limited my ability to eat and cook there though. We felt like part of the community. Would return for sure.

The host family is amazing, especially Tutehau! So hospitable, kind and welcoming! We loved our stay.

Nice location, beautiful beach. We were frustrated that we got 1 bedroom bungalow instead 2 bedroom we were paying for. Also, the were too many mosquitoes inside the house and we had to buy mosquito killer devices which I believe property should have provided.
Otherwise amazing location and beach with great snorkeling.

I loved the location. A rental car was offered at a very reasonable rate. The view from the beach is mind-blowing. Having lunch with your feet in the water and fish swimming around is an unforgettable experience. Our annoyance was that the bungalow was sold as 2-bedroom, when it is essentially one large room with beds for 5 in it. Other than that, we loved our stay.

The property was right on a beautiful lagoon filled with coral, fish, rays and a few small sharks. The restaurant is facing the water and is really cute and the food is great. Only a short walk away is the Moorea Hilton which has the best crepes. Kayaks and paddle boards were included in the nightly fee which was really nice.

Great onsite restaurant, very helpful host. He even went extra length to find us electrical plug adaptor and snorkeling equipment when the airline misplaced our luggage.

Fare Maheata is a great place run by a local family, all of whom are friendly and helpful. It provides simple comfortable accomodation with fans & aircon, full kitchen and bathroom, and everything you need for a great stay. The best part is the beautiful white sand beach on which it is located, where you eat lunch with your feet in the water (if you wish). Rays and fish swim by as you eat breakfast. It has a restaurant, open 5 days a week, and provides a simple breakfast if you want it. A great place at a very affordable price.

Dining in the Lagoon was amazing. The site is beautiful and every body is nice and helpful.

We are a family of 6. 4 kids and 2 adults. We travel a lot and are happy with places that are more like a home than a resort. The location here is beautiful. The restaurant is right on a little beach with beautiful water and kayaks to use and explore. We saw a bunch of rays. The rooms were fine. The downside was the staff/owners. One brother was very sweet but there was another brother who was just plain rude. Our reservation stated 2 adults and 4 kids. I even called the hotel directly to confirm that we could sleep all 6 of us. I paid a fee to add the 2 younger children. When we got there they only had beds for 5. I asked for the 6th bed and they told me that i had only put 4 on the reservation which i told them I called to add the other 2 and that there were 6. He said yes we know thats why we put a 5th bed but we dont have a 6th. He was very rude about it. I told them not to worry about it and our youngest would just sleep with us. The older brother came about 30min later with a matress and was much more respectful and helpful. The only way to light the stove is with a match which is fine but there were no matches. When we asked for some it was a rude response about how the last guest took them so basically oh well. Then the day we left they tried to collect another 9k francs for breakfast for the 2 littles. They claimed we didnt pay for them. Not true and myself and older son didnt even eat breakfast. One son nice other very rude. Property is nice, rooms are fine.

Super friendly state, lovely beach in front, great dinners at restaurant… decent room and breakfast.

This place is amazing! The sons that run the place have a wealth of knowledge about the island, culture and where to go. The unit that we stayed in had bunk beds and a loft. It was great for my kids. My son would get up early, walk 30 meters right to the beach and go snorkeling. I will be staying there next time we go to Moorea. I think it is important to note that I rented a vehicle to use while I was there with my family. I made a mistake and rented the vehicle for Tahiti. I did not realize that until we arrived in Moorea in the ferry. I called the guys at Fare Maheata and they arranged for a taxi to pick us up and they even had vehicles available for rent on the property. They made our vacation on Moorea a pleasant stay. Thank you!

My mom and I stayed here for a week and had an amazing time! John and his family are great hosts and there to help you with anything you need. The food is fabulous as well! We will be back again for sure!

BEWARE. The manager Jean arrogantly charged me again for my two night stay even after i had showed him the receipt that the room has been paid for. He did NOT listen to what i am saying and now the double charge is still in dispute. Now he claims he cannot return the charge back and asking for another credit card and some RIB or IBAN account number. I travel quite a bit and this is the most unsatisfactory place i have stayed. No hot water when he claims there was, i got bitten from possible bed bugs (i have photos), and one of the sons Maha kept on saying he works for tips. I know the hotel industry is hurting at the moment. However, do yourselves a favor! DO NOT stay here.

The hotel staff are great. Very friendly and helpful. The beach area was great for relaxing and snorkeling. The room was clean andcomfortable

The property is by the water. The owner and his sons are very nice. They have a restaurant on side and also provide local transportation service with reasonable price. The food is good and the breakfast is included in the bill. But the property is a little bit old and some kind of clean up.
2.5
Awesome place for cheap in Moorea. They had a great beach and really good food for cheaper than a lot of restaurants on Moorea. Also, the family that runs this place is the best, they were super helpful in planning my time there and had everything you need! Also a really cool hike up the mountains, only accessible by their property. The only downside was that the shared room was very hot at night, even with fans, but honestly if that bothers you then you shouldnt be on a tropical island in the pacific!
2.5
Quiet, family run pension with the same amazing views and same swim/snorkeling experience as the Hilton just a 7 minute walk away but a fraction of the cost. The owner, Jean, picked us up from the airport with our bicycles and bags, cooked us delicious meals and told us about life as a local growing up in French Polynesia.
4.0
The location has around 5 or 6 buildings that host travelers, there are single bedroom and flat spaces available with a kitchen and fully furnished.
The main lounge area is very large and a great place to relax and sit when not on the beach.
The beach is amazing, it is located about 4 houses from the Hilton and is a great location for snorkeling, kayaking and paddle boarding. The location provides canoes to use and paddle board for rent, he also has some masks and snorkel equipment.
The water is no more than waist high and the coral is right infront.
Our host was very helpful and very friendly, he was available when needed.
Its a quiet place, more like a bed and breakfast.

OVERALL. Our stay met or surpassed our expectations, with one exception - see below. The snorkeling is spectacular, the best we have ever experienced: coral with fish and other marine life right off the beach, calm and warm waters, and not too shallow and not too deep. Highly recommended.
BREAKFAST. During check-in the manager insisted that breakfast was not included in spite of the fact that our rental agreement with hotels.com specifically stated that it was included. He claimed that he was not informed about this rental contract. The extra cost for the breakfast is $10 per person, $20 for 2 persons per day.

Very comfortable the staff was excellent and vert accommodating

Fare Maheate is a great place to relax, do some swimming or snorkeling. Excursions with a separate outfit are available. Jean is offering rides to the supermarket, if needed, but meals can be ordered at the pension.
The beach leads gradually into deeper water, which appeals to some swimmers. Just a great place to relax.
