Room was extremely small. No room for bags or any kind of place to put bags. Very tiny bathroom with leaky shower.

The lady at the front desk was rude at my check in. She then left me waiting for 30 minutes saying to “wait there” and she would show me to my room only to never come back.

If we could give this hotel a review of 10/5 we would. We stayed for an extended time (16 days) and during that time we experienced the best and friendliest service. The reception staff was always friendly and cheerful. Everyone was ready to help with any question we had. Breakfast was amazing. The selection was terrific. And every morning we were greeted by the pleasant and happy staff. One staff member told me she loves her job. Who doesn't want to stay in a hotel where the staff love working? Several days my mother who travelled with me was ill and the staff made it so easy for me to take breakfast to her in the room. The room was terrific. We requested the accessible room and were not disappointed. Despite Ettlingen not being the most wheelchair friendly, Stadthotel Engel had every accessibility need addressed. The front entrance has no stairs. They have an elevator that stops at the breakfast room level. The bathroom in our room was wheelchair friendly with a raised toilet, fully accessible shower, and vanity that could accommodate a wheelchair underneath. We did not have a wheelchair but my mother has a walker which requires many of the same accommodations. The room has air conditioning for those who are concerned about that. The location is amazing. From the hotel you are directly in the old city and can walk to many stores, cafes, and restaurants. The hotel entrance is located in an inside court area where there are tables that can be enjoyed during the nice weather.

Unfortunately, the hotel does not have AC. And most months you might not need it. But in the summer (July) it was hot and humid and there was no airflow when opening the window. It was terribly hot and unbearable. Also, I booked a double bed room and got a single. When I inquired, they said that double bed rooms are single ones?!?! Either hotels.com or the hotel itself needs to change the description and pictures I felt cheated and was very unhappy with that. The room was very, very small and the closet was super small and you couldn't open it. You had to hang your clothes side ways. Super annoying. The shower was tiny. Barely a child fits in it. It had mold all over it on the bottom. The location was good (in the city) but it got loud at night, since there are restaurants right next door and underneath. The breakfast buffet was really good and the staff there were amazing and very nice!

Encouraged by the photos on their website we selected this hotel for our short stay. Located right in the old city, with beautiful surroundings. Outside - nice building. Inside - we were not impressed. Clean, basic equipment, but lacking atmosphere or “vibe”.

Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Exelent WiFi, no VPN block. The hotel is mentioning, they have 2 restaurants. Actually the do NOT have restaurants. But there is a pizzeria and a flammkuchen restaurant close by. And i advise Restaurant Markgrafenkeller, only a 5 minute walk in the city center.

The hotel is fantastic, in the center of town with easy parking in the carpark underneath the hotel. Very convenient for somebody who does not know the area. Lots of restaurants around. The service was perfect, everybody very nice, also very nice breakfast buffet

I've stayed here on business a few times. Always perfectly clean and maintained. Staff very helpful, polite and friendly. Very quiet and comfortable rooms, bathrooms are always spotless. Breakfast is excellent quality. Location in the old part of town is great and walking distance to lots of restaurants and shops. The rooms don't have AC but are generally cool and comfortable. Good WIFI too.
