What a great place to stay in the Sonoma area! Super comfy rooms with fun retro decor. Awesome coffee and granola in the morning, too!

I expected a bit more for a three and a half star place. Pros: Staff was nice and informative. Enjoyed finding out some details of the motel. The grounds were nice with beautiful outdoor seating. Care was obviously taken with decorating with unique outdoor seating options and unique antique decor. The room had a nice size frig. The vanity was outside the bathroom making it easier for two people to get ready in the morning.
Cons: the biggest surprises were the lack of coffee pot in the room and the lack of continental breakfast choices. The coffee in the lounge was good, but the only choices were maple granola, some fruit, and yogurt. The information on the website mention pastries, but there were none and we were there early. I was content with yogurt and fruit, but surprised. While the bathroom shower was a nice rain shower, the towels were what you might expect at a motel 6.
The floor was cement, but I knew to expect that and appreciate that it can be kept clean, but it can be cold.
Unique boutique motel with some nice features. The staff was the tipping point for a positive stay. Friendly and informative.

Been meaning to book this location for some time. The stars aligned and I was back in town and stayed here. Room was big, bathroom was just as big!! Very clean and comfortable. Downside, room that size could benefit from a bigger bed. I get the rustic minimalist approach but with a room that size you need furniture to absorb sound! why you ask? Because there is NO carpet in this room!! I got a 1st floor room that sits on concrete slab. So conversations echoed, it made it feel like we were using "outdoor" voices indoors. Tv sound echos.

We loved the unique mid-century modern style of this hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable. The grounds are beautifully maintained.

Wonderful place to stay. Was in town for a 4 day dog show and was made to feel very welcome. Room was comfy, amazing bathroom, grounds are lovely and the lounge is amazing! We had wine tasting in the lounge one night and a bonfire the next.

While I appreciated the retro feel, the cold cement floors were not comfortable. Do not stay here without sleep socks or slippers. The mattress was comfortable but the all white comforter meant I was going to get charged an extra cleaning fee since I spent all day at a dog show. It was worth the money BUT the biggest drawback is the parking. I scraped my car - my fault, I guess - because it was so tight. However, the people were lovely and I would stay here again - just not forget my slippers!

We loved the hotel, comfortable, clean, close to a nice park, felt safe. Staff was amazing. Super quiet. Would definitely stay again.

Wonderful hotel. Only area to improve; the "included breakfast" was only coffee/tea, granola, yogurt, and apples. My bad, but I guess I was expecting more.

Loved the breakfast served! Room felt very clean and fresh. The only downside was poor water pressure in the shower, but probably hard to avoid in an older building

This artsy hotel was perfect for our trip to Santa Rosa. Beds are great, lounge and breakfast was perfect, and staff extra friendly. We will be back!

I specifically asked for no fragrances to be used in our space (twice) ahead of our stay, so I was so disappointed to arrive to an overpowering smell of Fabuloso (the most offensive possible chemical/fragrance). The windows were left open to “air it out” but the chemicals in Fabuloso are designed to stick to every surface. I had to go buy my own bedding and thought very seriously about checking into a different hotel but unfortunately could not afford it. My partner and I both had horrible headaches the two nights we spent at the Astro.
The property would be amazing and I would consider staying every three months when we visit the area for medical reasons, but it is not possible due to the crazy strong cleaning materials used (and it wasn’t clean).
I was also disappointed that I asked for a quiet room and was placed right on the street. It was very noisy. I’m not sure why someone would seemingly go out of their way to sabotage someone who admitted staying for a medical procedure at the hospital, but that’s how it felt.

Staff and accommodations were fantastic - clean and quiet with lovely breakfast. Area surrounding hotel had me making sure I didn't leave anything in my car.

Love that all of the furnishings are real vintage Mid-century modern pieces and were sourced by hand by the owner. They don't have anyone in the office for late check-in, but it looks like they have a lock box they can leave the key in for you if you arrive after 10 pm.

Art is a major component of the Astro's atmosphere. The grounds and each room have well-curated works of art. The rooms are well appointed with mid-century modern furniture, and the plumbing fixtures and amenities are new and modern.

What a charming place, full of mid century modern furniture and nice touches like the art vending machine

The Astro is a well kept and 'friendly" motel. The mid-century modern style is well done and the accomodations are comfortable. It isn't a fancy place, but I like it a lot, and I slept very well - the most important thing on this trip. Breakfast was light but excellent. Staff was friendly and professional. I will stay here again!

Our television never worked. The person who helped us check in said it would be looked at and fixed and when we came back the next day it didn't work. Also the parking is not easy.

great location close to downtown, didn’t have to drive at all for two days. Great courtyard, and very well appointed bicycle repair station on site. I wish i would have brought the dog :-/

Arrived at 3:30pm and front desk was unoccupied. No sign, no way to contact that rep. After hunting down a maid, who also couldn't find the rep, she finally popped up on property after 10 minutes of searching

I arrived after office had closed, phoned the number posted, and was directed step by step over the phone, how to get my key and find my room. It would have been nice to have coffee in the room, but breakfast & coffee were available in the lounge til 11:30 am.

I booked this motel based on the 9.2 guest rating for a reasonable price. Pluses are the courtyard with cool statues and plantings, the beautiful park nextdoor, and close-by entrance to the Santa Rosa Creek greenway. The motel itself is an old (mid-century) motel property with renovated rooms. All rooms faced the outside walkway, which meant we heard and felt everyone who came back to their rooms after hours. Snacks and even water in the room had expensive prices. The bathroom was updatednicely, but the rest of the room renovation was just ok.

Parking is a challenge. Not nearly enough available parking. Other than that it’s terrific and affordable.

This property is cute. It is in a good central location. Though the property has been completely renovated, and the room is very cute, it is quite small and rather noisy. If you are a light sleeper, I would say to avoid this property. The air conditioner and refrigerator in the room are very loud, but also the room vibrates, and it is noisy from people using the stairs and walkway outside and people opening and closing doors at the property. I am also a fan of sustainability, but if you stay more than one night, I believe that housekeeping should at least freshen dirty towels and empty trash, etc., especially when the room is very small it makes it quite uncomfortable to stay multiple nights without housekeeping.

When my boyfriend and I heard about this motel we were warned that it had been remodeled from something less than spectacular.
We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived and have had nothing but great things to say about our stay. Friendly visitors and staff, and the grounds were well kept and our room was clean! We also didnt hear anyone while in our room.
We enjoyed a less than 20 minute walk to downtown santa rosa for dinner and drinks, and throughly enjoyed our stay! We would definitely recommend.

Great property and very much enjoyed my stay. Only one concern, felt a little unsafe walking from back parking lot around the to front entrance at night. Other than that it was a great place.

Second time staying here after a day at the wineries and was just as comfortable a stay as the first! Walkable to bars and restaurants too. Will be back
