Fantastic, spacious rooms with everything you need while away, being able to have a walk around shops and come back to home from home environment made the stay enjoyable,
Lovely and clean and very spacious, shower was amazing, me and my partner really couldn’t ask for a better place to stay for a few nights away.

Can't say enough good things about this hotel. Room was excellent, staff was helpful and location was perfect.

Excellent stay for my family ! Staff is all very helpful and considerate ! Thank you !

I think I’ve stayed in all of the high end hotels in Edinburgh over the years , this one is up there with the very best , we will return , excellent facilities , first class service and a five minute walk to all of the shops and restaurants you can handle

Awesome location and historic building. Room was excellent. Great restaurant choice in the hotel but we didn't try. Only gripe is the that a car cannot stop outside the hotel but it is workable.

It definitely will be a place to return to, the staff were so helpful and kind. I took a trip and was not able to carry my suitcase with me, they held them for me until I returned.
This hotel gave such positive energy. Love it.

The rooms are absolutely beautiful. Relatively easy parking about 5 minute walk.

Staff were very welcoming, professional and attentive. Hotel is beautiful. Room was incredible with balcony overlooking the square. 10/10.

Loved staying here and it’s the best find out of all of UK this summer

Really nice apartment although bed was a bit small. Lovely glass of prosecco on arrival. Only concern is lack of air conditioning as room was very warm and it was too noisy outside to open windows. We did get a fan from reception which helped. Very friendly staff.

I loved how centrally located it is, but this comes with a caveat. the tram outside sounds like an earthquake every time it passes by, so if you are a light sleeper id suggest asking for a room not facing the street.

This place is a real find and gem. Get the apt suite and try the basement bar. Other than one rude gentlemen at front who was clearly not designed for hospitality - our stay was excellent. Would stay again

Top notch facilities and rooms.

Overall, this is a very nice modern-style hotel. It's great for walks, being right next to the park, with excellent restaurants and bars very close by.
On arrival, the staff were very friendly and helpful, even though we did have a bit of a parking and unloading situation. They assisted with our bags and helped us get to the room—10/10 service. The parking is located nearby but can be a bit of a hassle, especially if you have children. They offer parking validation for a discount, but during my visit, the validation ticket didn't work, so I had to pay full price for a day. Leaving the hotel was a bit of a different experience, as the lady at the front desk upon departure was not very helpful in getting assistance to load our luggage into our rental car. This wouldn't normally be a problem, but there really isn't any temporary parking or loading zone outside the front entrance, so you're unsure if you'll get a ticket for just checking out.
The breakfast they offer is very nice.
Hawksmoor, connected to the hotel, is an amazing restaurant, and everything was delicious.
The bar connected to the hotel is a great addition. When we first went there, it was a really good experience, and the drinks were very tasty. I would only ask that they align their closing times with the last call, as we arrived 30 minutes before the stated closing time, but the staff had already closed down the bar and completed last call.
Overall, a very nice hotel.

Had a great stay at this hotel! It was beautiful inside and the staff was very friendly. Make sure to press the button on the knob for water temperature in the shower - otherwise it doesn’t get very warm!

The room was different than the picture.
It was actually bigger and a duplex; but didn't have an outside balcony like the picture. Overall; super neat and clean,

The best in Edinburgh

Very nice hotel, but not the service I expected given the price we were paying. In addition, you might get a room in the basement without easy access (you have to take the lift for then walking down the stairs). It was a headache to found out that this was the deluxe bedroom for which we were paying for. Anyway, I was grateful that the hotel then upgraded my room because I could not bear the way down to the room.

The staff was very kind. Very convenient location a few meters from Waverley. Sadly to reach the room we had to use the service elevator which smelled awful.

to expensive for what they offer

Excellent stay at the Cheval The Edinburgh Grand. It is located in the New Town area but it is a short walk to Old Town. We found it was a nice respite to leave the Old Town area due to how busy it is (think Times Square busy). Every person we encountered at the hotel was extremely nice and professional. Our room was clean and comfortable. would highly recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh.

The most lovely hotel - beautifully appointed from the furniture to the linens to the public spaces, The perfect location. Steps to the tram, the bus station at the end of the block. The staff were helpful and kind. I look forward to the next time I can get to Edinburgh just to stay here again. Thank you!

Still my favourite hotel in Edinburgh but this is the third stay in winter when the heating didn’t work in the bedroom :( not great!

Absolutely loved this hotel! We stayed in a one bedroom with loft room. It had a full kitchen with a huge dining table, washer/dryer which was great and a huge bathroom. Service was excellent. Close to shopping and old town. Will definitely stay here again.

We have stayed here many times but this is the first time we have stayed in the Directors Suite and it was spectacular. Can’t wait to stay there again.

If you think it’s is alright to be woken up from bed by this hotel’s handyman “breaking in” and calling “housekeeping” standing right outside your bedroom then this hotel is for you early in the morning coz he said he wanted to check the shower for us. The fact that there’s no latch, no security chain, no lock whatsoever you can use to safeguard yourself from intruders or uninvited people is horrendous! It’s just utterly unfathomable and I would not ever come back unless the hotel install proper security regiments for their hotel guests. The only so called safety security is the combination code set by the hotel itself. Hence my experience, me woking up to horror (in my nightie) whilst my husband was still sound asleep.

This is an excellent hotel. It's a great location: close to Princes Street and the Royal Mile. If you plan on doing tours, it's roughly a 5 minute walk to the city hop on-hop off stops, 5 minutes to the bus station for those taking multi-day tours. The tram stop for the airport is literally outside the door. We also took the train to Glasgow for the day. Waverly is 5 minutes from the hotel. It's worth it to stay at The Grand.

sometimes things go wrong for hotels, but how they handle the situation separates the good from the great. Stephanie is part of the greatness that makes a great hotel. Her willingness to overcome obstacles and please the guest is why we keep coming back and will continue to do so.

Beautiful building, lovely rooms . Staff polite and very helpful and friendly. Great place to stay and visit the area.

It would be impossible a better location. A few minutes to the old town and a few steps to central station and bus station, with a tram station just in front and a shopping mall on the back street. Lots of restaurants around and two supermarkets also. Having a full kitchen with laundry was great too.
