Staying at this hotel was one of the most memorable occasions! The staff was great, the room we stayed in was truly awesome; we would do that again!

Unique cave room that was well appointed. Though the bathroom was not physically in the bedroom it only had a frosted swinging glass door so not soundproof from bedroom. Sink for bathroom was in the bedroom that was ok with me but my husband did not like this layout.

Everything was great! We felt like kings and queens after staying here!

My fiancé and i had an incredible experience at this property - we wished we had stayed longer than just one night! We were welcomed with welcome drinks up on the rooftop overlooking the beautiful Sassi di Matera. The staff was so friendly and helpful with recommendations as needed. The room we stayed in was a cave room - so cool and updated with AC and everything! Our room was near the reception which initially had us nervous but it was actually very quiet. We loved the walkability and the convenience! The parking situation - which could have been difficult with the rules of cars in Matera - was made very simple with scheduled departures and felt very safe. Overall, we had a great experience and only complaint is that we wish we stayed longer! Thank you to the kind staff here as well.

The best and most romantic stay at this ultra modern boutique hotel built inside real caves and a terrace view of Sassi to die for. Outstanding location, super clean, large rooms with every possible amenity, awesome breakfast and very very nice staff. We would come back again and May be spend a whole week

We loved our stay here! Antonella was super friendly and helpful both leading up to our stay and helping us plan our arrival and the options for parking (which are complex). She explained some history of the hotel and gave us a detailed map to tour the city. It was like having our own pre tour guide!
The room was very clean, beautifully decorated with very comfortable beds and welcome air conditioning during a heat wave.
A great location within the Sassi to walk around the historical centre.

The hotel is well situated, within the walking distance to the main Matera attractions.
The room is spacious but need some better cleanup (a lot of marks on the covers of the sofa and bed; the floor has not been vacuumed; ants in the bedroom and bathroom). The breakfast with a multiple selection of cakes, some yoghurts and limited cheese/ham/fruit option.
The bar outside space is available to hotel guests and people coming from outside. Often the tables outside were taken or booked so count enjoy it.

The kindest staff! So accommodating and helpful. Also you just can’t beat the view and the history of the place. It was breath taking and I would definitely go back!

This hotel is in the best location in the sassi area, the rooms are heavenly. Views over the town are spectacular.

EXCELLENT PLACE, AMAZING BREAKFAST, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF MATERA.

We loved the room/hotel. It was a very unique experience sleeping in a "cave". We would definitely stay there again, and strongly recommend it to anybody.

What an amazing place! This hotel is located on a cliff overlooking the ravine that bisects the historic town. The views are spectacular and it is convenient to many good restaurants. The staff is excellent and very helpful. A very good breakfast is served in a cave restaurant/bar above the hotel. Matera is worth a long visit; there is so much to see and do. We loved staying here!

Situated in the old town of Matera, and unique to stay in a "cave room". The property has been renovated very tastefully and the highlight is the property patio and bistro (Crialoss) is perfectly located overlooking the old town. The menu of the bistro is excellent and so are the drinks! The owners, Vita, Antonella, and Giuseppe are very attentive and take the opportunity to ensure all guests are enjoying their stay. Antonella and her staff assisted with reservations to recommended restaurants and all were very enjoyable. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend to stay at this property!

Absolutely incredible experience - my receptionist called ahead to make sure I was not lost before check-in ended in the evening, offered complimentary water upon my arrival and helped fill out a map of areas to tour and visit. Room was incredibly unique, extremely comfortable and featured an incredible view! Definitely intend on returning in the future.

The location is perfect for exploring the old town. Amazing view and wonderful staff. Room is large and bed comfortable. Will stay again!

This was a very nice stay with wonderful views of the Sassi. The breakfast was great (continental) with the breads and bakery goods made that morning.
The owner (current and former resident of the Sassi) and the staff did everything to make the stay exceptional.
While parking was off site (10 min drive from hotel) it was very well organized - shuttle was there for you when you got to the parking - parking was indoors and the shuttle was there for you when you were ready to return to you vehicle. Door to door - no stops to pick up others on the way.

Have to spend 40euros extra to parked our car but that's nothing to do with the hotel. The cave room we stayed was a bit of a novelty with a fantastic view of The Sassi, staff was very good & helpful, spend a lot of time to explained the place. Breakfast was an event arrived in a carrier bag, it got everything in it. Fantastic place & you won't disappointed with the hotel & Matera.

This is how a boutique hotel in a restricted historic area should be operated. We were given good instructions on how to reach the hotel far in advance of our arrival. We chose the offered valet offsite parking for an extra charge and didn’t use our car for the two nights there. The hotel exterior is inconspicuous by design but our room was creatively planned and elegantly executed. The staff was smart, sensitive and helpful. All this comfort in Matera, a city with an aura of timelessness.

A very comfortable stay in a great location All the staff were extremely helpful and gave good advice about places to visit and to eat. We had a minor water leak in the bathroom and it was fixed within two hours.

Right in one of the Sassi districts, wonderful room with views, valet parking after great photographic directions on how to get there. Excellent help from the reception staff with maps, suggestions, etc. Nothing we could dislike.

Was an unforgettable experience of sleeping in a monument UNESCO in a cave.
Exceptional service, handling me a birthday present on the arrival, which I'm so thankful and won't forget it.
Supplemented with a map of historical places and where to find them.
The whole suite was well preserved a detail to admire at every turn.
Absolutely amazing Claudia & Maria Antonella.
Grazie signore

A wonderful room and very welcoming. We highly recommend!

Amazing location, you are basically in the center of Sassi! The lady in the front was very nice and very helpful! She was doing everything, the check in, the breakfast, and cleaning as well!
We decided on the cave room, and as nice as the room was, it had an unpleasant odor of dampness for the two days we were there despite the very high temperatures and unbearable heat wave at the time, we kept the bathroom window open to just air out the room, also we didn’t realize that the balcony was shared with two other rooms! All in all, Matera is gorgeous and we’ll come back again one day, for sure!

, Rita and Claudia“The location , walking distance to the cathedral (albiet up hill) and other main attractions. Sitting on the terrace enjoying breakfast with the amazing view of the Sassi Barasano.

very pleasant welcome; we got bags of information what to see and to do and where to eat; nice cave room with all modern amenities; delicious breakfast with some hearty deli, and numerous cakes; terrace overlooking the sassy and the cathedral;
very detailed explanations how to drive to the Palazzo and what are the parking possibilities

We cannot say enough about this small hotel. They went above and beyond in every way. They helped us exchange rental cars and mad arrangements for us to be escorted to the rental agency since our car was not working well. The breakfast was delicious and the room was spotless with a lot of attention paid to details to provide comfort for your stay.
4.9
Perfect location. Large and comfortable room. Very helpful staff.

Perfect stay in a small but wonderful hotel. Lovely Antonella ensured everything was just right. Located in great spot in the Sassi. Loved everything about it. They also have someone to come and valet park your car. This is incredibly important and will not realize this until you are there. The Sassi is a ZTL area where cars are not allowed .would return in a second!!!
