I stayed one night in the Boat room. It’s tiny…the toilet is on the shower, no joke. I appreciated the comfortable bed and the small fridge and microwave. However, if you expect to sleep early, this is not your place. The bar/restaurant is directly above this room and you can hear everything; footsteps, music, etc. Fortunately, it stopped at 10pm, but it was annoying to say the least. The parking situation is tough as well. I am glad I paid less than $100 for the night, otherwise it would not have been worth it.

Fun, brightly colored and spacious room (We stayed in the Bali Room). It was perfect for our family of 4. Conveniently located within walking distance to several restaurants.
The Nomad Cantina right above was also really fun, and had excellent food, great beer selection, and fun, vibrant atmosphere and decor, and the staff were friendly.
Surf friendly. We did not take advantage of the SURF CAMP, but with San Onofre State Beach and Trestles nearby, I bet it would be awesome.

Wasn’t able to get into our room and there is no real life person to contact for this property. We had to find a last minute alternate hotel.

The room was just too small, no cups, and difficult to maneuver. Great location and very cute place on the good side.

It‘s a hostel not a hotel. The room is very small. There is no place for a suitcase. Inside the shower is the toilet!!! The second bed is located under the stairs - Japan size. We dont stay there we checked in in a other hotel. Never ever this hostel!

Great location and spacious clean room. Great for everyone.

Hotel was fun and funky - BUT the Sunset room was immediately under the Bar/restaurant. Incredibly loud footsteps, and chairs scratching across the floor all day and particularly the evening until 11pm.

OK – I don’t usually review. And I have never to date published a “negative” review. But after the stay at Nomads in San Clemente I must comment. I stayed in the “sunset room”. Hilariously named because the room is located on the east side of the building and basically underground … no sunset here other than the orange walls and maybe light dimmers. So, if you like basements and a single small street level window that faces east, this is your place.
But that was not the real issue. The room is located directly under the Nomads Bar/Restaurant. Yes, right under, with no sound isolation whatsoever. Which resulted in the room not being inhabitable from about 3pm (yeah basically check-in) to about midnight after the cleaning crew in the Bar/Restaurant was done making their very loud racket. So … think about tables, chairs, shoes and boots on hardwood floors and you are right under it. Mind numbing noise … nonstop until closing and cleaning complete. And then around 3am the people in the room next store started making noise through what seemed to be paper thin walls.
This Sunset room specifically is to be avoided for sure unless you want to know what I think a prison might sound like after lights out. I guess the tip off should have been the jar of earplugs on the nightstand …. Really!
The rest of the Nomad experience …. It is right in the middle of town and convenient … but if the main criteria are just a quiet comfortable room to wind down

This was very convenient location, able to walk to restaurants, shops and pier. Parking was a bit of a challenge, and the room was under the restaurant so a bit noisy at night. Would stay here again for sure!

Pros- great location.
Cons- below the bar so loud late and loud early. Our room was ridiculously tinny with shower , toilet, and sink all in one little cove. Dangerous stairs 3 steps from side of bed

The room was not what we expected

This room was cute. Fit my family of 6 pretty well. The biggest issue is that there is a bar upstairs and it is very loud in the room until the bar closes. Music, talking, chairs moving around.

Easy check in/ check out. Excellent area to restaurants and shops. Very clean! Restaurant is above so might get some noise but we didn’t care about that. Ear plugs and sound machine provided. Love it here

Our particular room was a little noisy at night (ac unit) but everything was excellent.

Room was very so small and bathroom was even more small where the sink was tiny by the corner and shower was is the same area with the toilet hence always wet when taking a shower. The worst part was the restaurant tight on top of us so all the loud noises from the talking and laughing, the constant feet movements and chairs dragging were nonstop until like midnight yet started again around 8AM hence the anticipated quiet restful vacation away from the hectic daily life turned into a living hell. Never go back to this place ever again!

Price worked well, clean and comfortable beds, easy check in within the prime walking locations of San Clemente. Not to mention Nomads is delish for food and just upstairs. It was a bit strange to be underneath the restaurant (sunset room) and very loud until it closed / circa 11pm. The alley is right outside the window too but was quiet once all settled and we had a great sleep. Noted - dog friendly too

Great location and parking better at 9 pm. Took a bit of time to remember code to front door and to hotel room. Love the surfer theme. Will come back.

Nomads Hotel is in the heart of San Clemente and walkable to many restaurants and shops. Conveniently located and room was clean. The California room has a comfortable bed and a nice patio. Rooms can be noisy since they are under the Nomads Canteen. Provided ear plugs were used.

Botique hotel with very cool and unique rooms. Awesome Cantina with delicous food and drinks. You can rent surfboards, wetsuits and get surfing instruction too. E-bikes are also available. Way better then Corp America hotel chains. Owner goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is pleasant!

Room was under a restaurant/bar. Extremely noisy. Had 3 steps to go to the toilet. Dangerous at night for 70’s couple

"Clash!....screeeeeeeeeech... thump, thump, thump, CLANG! Clack-clack-clack....BOOM!!!!" This is what it sounds like when you stay in the Boat Room located just under the restaurant, but my husband and I loved it. They have ear plugs and the sounds of thunder and rain freely available to mask the hub-bub. We were cracking up. The room was small and it reminded me of accommodation I've had in Copenhagen and Paris (minimalistic to save space): very small, with a bed and a bathroom that doubles as the shower. The room was clean and the decor was cool. I've stayed at Nomad before in one of the bigger, front rooms. That room was quieter and more spacious. If you're uptight, entitled, or like to complain, I wouldn't stay in the Boat Room. But, it works if you're not precious. It's nice to be able to stay in a room in San Clemente without breaking the bank. The surrounding area is amazing and glorious. The food at the restaurant at the hotel is A-Maz-Ing!!! They gave us a free drink each, which was really cool. Plus, I apparently get a hat for leaving this review. Time will tell. Thanks, Nomad staff! We had a great time.

Everything was great! Free water? A cantina close by? Literally no complaints

Unfortunately this was one of the most miserable check-ins of my life back in July when I stayed at this beautiful hotel.
I use a flip phone, with no internet, and nothing on the website said that would be a problem.. So early the day of my arrival, like say 3am before I left home,, I checked my emails to see if my hotel needed anything from me like to call again to confirm; all good. I got there around 3pm and I guess management eventually got to see a stressful security video of me looking like an idiot, banging on their locked front door and eventually breaking into tears, crying and yelling through the door for help, over the course of 30 minutes. I was calling the office number from the website over and over, 30 times, and left 10 voicemails. I asked the bar around the back how to check-in or reach staff, they were kind but ultimately gave me the same phone#. I had to drive to a Starbucks and use their wi-fi with my laptop to try to email the hotel, and I found it... 1:55pm they had sent an email explaining the contactless check-in and codes. Nothing on expedia or their website said you had to check your email within a couple of hours of check-in to be able to get in at all, and there would be 0 staff to call if you couldn't. I don't want to trash them too hard.. it was reasonably priced for SC and beautiful and colorful and convenient. Oh, I did find someone's old leftovers in the freezer, but I would still stay again now that i know the secret to getting in :(

Well on the being I was angry because they sent an email and text message asking me to do a check in, I said what's is going on do I am doing a boarding ticket to fly or what. But in the end wow is way easy because you just do your check in and they sent you your pin # for the property entry and the pin # for the room. Wow it skip the line to do a check in.
