Hotel is in such a beautiful location. 10-15 minute drive from the main parts of Kerlinggarfjoll. Definitely must have 4 wheel drive. Beds were comfortable and breakfast was simple but yummy. Staff was very kind. Only bummer about our stay was that construction was currently going on at the hotel, so the site was a bit chaotic. Im excited to see what they do with the location though, and realize that construction is never convenient for anyone, so hopefully things wrap up soon!

Very clean and only 10 minutes drive from kerlingarfjoll mountains thermal area .

Very nice place, but expensive, to stay in the mountains.
Would very much come here again!
Beautiful surroundings.
Because of the new building in progress there is not always enough (no) water in the shower, not pleasant with your hair full of soap.
Hopefully they fix this rapidly because it aint cheap to stay here...
Like everywhere else some tourists don't take others in consideration and leave their garbage and filth behind.....some one others then them will clean it up.......shame on them.

Everything was very clean and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was very good. They are building at the site but there was no noise.

It's the only accomodation there. So you don't really have a choice were to stay in the area. I was here twice - the first time I slept in a hood on the hill, now I was in one of the "newer" doublerooms that were more hotellike. For those who want to have more "luxury" I have to recommend these. But they arent that well maintained: One of the lights next to the bed and the light in the bathroom above the mirror didnt work. It also was very warm in the room, but you can open the window for just about 10cm. Then there is a strange window in the bathroom, facing to the bed. Its a little strange to be on the toilet and to see the other people in the room.
Everything was clean, at night it was quiet and the breakfast was good (but much too crowded). We didnt eat in the Restaurant because it was so expensive. You have to bring your own food then, as there is no possibility to buy your own.
All in all I can recommend to stay here, as the surroundig is spectecular and you can hike to the thermal fields. But the accomodation is too expensive for that what you get. You have to pay the price to being right next to the thermal fields. I would stay here again.

I understand that it is the only accommodation within 2 hours F road, but it was very low quality.
I wish I could post pictures, everything is in ruins, the access to the hotel is in the mud. Inside the room there is no hot water, dirty and very old and torn towels, bathroom drainage isn’t working, toilet flashes once and keep running, and my personal favorite - window looking from the room into the bathroom!
And all that for $205 per night..

The only accommodation in an area, internet only in main building

Check in location was not indicated. I had to put off the shoes in the restaurant/recdption building as well as in the room building and I had to put them on every time for changing between these two buildings because there is no connection between them.

The exterior of this hotel might give you pause, especially with ongoing construction, however our room was actually very comfortable, modern and clean. No problems with heating (though we visited early July) or water temperature. Staff was lovely and food was tasty but expensive (breakfast included however).

Beautiful and unique location. Highly recommend

The Kerlingarfjöll Mountain Resort gives access to some of the most amazing hiking we have ever done - at the Hveradalir geothermal area.

Very remote location. The facilities are simple.

Beautiful location, right at the Kerlingarfjoll mountains. That being said, there's a lot of things that can be improved:
- our room had nog been cleaned thoroughly (food crumbs on the floor, in the corner. I am really not a nitpicker, it was very obvious). The rest of the room seemed clean though, but you don't feel confident about this if you notice other things were not cleaned thoroughly.
- service at the front desk is terrible: e.g. we asked about a hike that was indicated on their website, and they had no idea what we were talking about.
- there is no wifi available. I get that it's a remote area, but offer a paid service then. I mean, there's a giant Siminn 3G antenna at the hill right behind the resort, it's not like it's impossible.
- the breakfast area is way too small for the number of rooms/camping spots
- some staff members really try their best and work hard, but others don't, which makes it really harsh for those who do try, as they get to work double shifts.
In all, everything is very sloppy and needs improvement. There is a lot of potential here, unlock this potential and make sure you provide people real value for money!

While the views and location are amazing, the lack of hot water after a day of hiking was a real let down. This is something that should just work.
