The property was spectacular!! The history and architecture second to none. Our host Simon was gracious and informative. Highly recommend visiting this gem!!

The host, and our greeting, felt rushed and as though we were inconveniencing him. The home is beautiful although it smelled musty and the bed was uncomfortable. It offers a beautiful view of Dubuque.

Wonderful views of the city and river from the Doll Room. Very comfortable room full of old school charm. Breakfast was also excellent and Simon's history of Dubuque was an added bonus.

The property was excellent, Expedia screwed up the vacation by sending me a confirmed booking without telling the Hancock owner. As a result we weren’t able to stay there !

IT was located in a truly unique location. Beautifly restored rooms and the breakfast on Sunday morning was wonderful. Other guests were very pleasant.

The Hancock House is a beautiful Victorian mansion. It sits high above Dubuque and offers spectacular views of the city and the Mississippi River. Simon is a gracious host. He takes pride in the house and it shows. Each room is beautifully appointed. The gourmet breakfasts served on Saturday and Sunday are delicious. The Hancock House is by far the best B and B in Dubuque!

Lots of character with a beautiful view over the city. Host is accommodating, breakfast delicious, beds and room comfortable and clean. A few updates on especially the exterior of the house would make it a fantastic experience (building noticeably deteriorating on the outside compared to homes surrounding it including banners). Otherwise a great choice for a unique experience!

Lovely view and terrific host

The room we rented was comfortable. The place was clean. The host was friendly. The place needs a little upkeep on small items, nothing major. A couple of cracks on the walls and possibly a sagging on the bathroom floor which was likely causing the shower door to not stay closed and some water to stagnate on the wrong side(the shower itself was otherwise clean, modern and neat). But given the age of the house it was good.
The experince was good overall.
Parking was a little confusing, especially since on-street parking looked full when we arrived. Some additional instruction on parking would've helped.
Host was helpful and with the local area.

What a charming discovery! A beautiful old home on the top of a hill with a gorgeous view of the city. Gorgeously decorated and appointed with attention to detail. We are enchanted!

It was my first time at a bed and breakfast. The property was pretty. The house was beautiful. Very very quiet. Staff was very nice and accommodating. My only complaint was the bed was very uncomfortable so I didn’t sleep well at all:/

Hancock House is one of the best B&B's I've stayed at ever (business or pleasure trips). The room furnishings, a good firm mattress, fine shower AND superb brkf made this a memorable trip. Will plan on staying again next spring & will encourage my sisters to as well (our annual sibling get-together). Note: II grew up in Dbq so know the city well; a great location just above 'downtown' but placed aside a cliff and the old 11th St. cable car site.

The building was impressive and the furnishings seemed very authentic and worn. It could have used some vacuuming and dusty. Our room was untouched when we came back from a long day out--the bed was unmade, nothing had been made tidy. The morning coffee was very weak the first morning and wasn't even made the second morning. We would not stay here again. But it was an interesting setting.

This was the first bed and breakfast that my husband and I have ever stayed at. It was pleasantly delightful and we would definitely stay here again. The house was very well kept. The breakfast was delicious and the staff was friendly. Our host educated us about the house and the city of Dubuque which was interesting to hear.

Nice house, close to downtown, if you're a good walker there are steep stairs down the bluff leading right to downtown.

The view from the porch is INCREDIBLE! The inside is like stepping back in time, which was so fun. Simon was a wonderful host who was knowledgeable about the area (and we came on a Sunday when most things were closed!)

We had a great stay at the Hancock House. The room was great, the view of Dubuque was fantastic, and our hsot Simon was very friendly. My wife enjoyed the breakfast (I preferred to sleep in) and loved hearing about the history of the area. Overall, a great choice!

I love the beautiful historic houses and the character they have. The bed was super comfortable, and I slept 10 hrs straight. Only negative was the parking on the hillside due to the location of the house. Excellent overall!!

So beautiful - the house and the view! We did leave for dinner and a little drive around the city but then spent three hours on the front porch just reading and relaxing and enjoying the view!

Absolutely loved the Hancock House.
It would be so fun to return with a group of friends or family and book every room in this historic place. It was the perfect Victorian place I was looking for… to complete my Dubuque weekend . The owner is a true delight….and has worked so hard in the restoration of this magnificent place.

My husband and I loved our stay at the Hancock House. When we arrived, we were greeted by the owner, Simon. He was warm and welcoming, and he gave us all of the information we needed to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We absolutely adored sitting out on the veranda, sipping on wine, and looking out over the city. The view is awesome. Our room was charming and very comfortable. And in the morning, our breakfast was quite delightful and delicious. We would totally recommend this B&B to anyone who is visiting Dubuque.

We would highly recommend the Hancock House to anyone looking for a lovely B&B. They have nine rooms, and not one room will disappoint you. We had a lovely stay and would go back in a heartbeat. They also or just a short walk to the downtown Dubuque area. You can get to just about any but we’re by walking if you don’t mind walking.

Great place to stay when in Dubuque. Great view and great grasp of Dubuque’s history!

It was lovely for a couples retreat, with a cozy room and inviting commons area. Check in and out was simple and communication with the owner was easy. He assisted with any questions or concerns that we had and we both joked that we can’t wait for the day to sit down to a freshly made breakfast. This stay would had been even better with the opportunity to have that bed and breakfast experience.
3.0
It was okay. It is a beautiful property. It has wonderful views. Some of the information on the description is untrue. There wasn't a feather bed. The bedding did not smell fresh. There was a dirty rag in the bathroom. There was no breakfast. It wasn't worth the price.
