Lovely pub in a beautiful location. Dog friendly..did not know I had to mention that at time of booking but did not prove to be a problem. Amazing food with friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again.

The quality of the materials used and the execution of the renovation were the best I have ever seen. It was expensive to stay but worth it and the village it is located in is gorgeous. Well worth walking around.

It was in good proximity of the South Downs Way. The options of dinner and breakfast was really good. I think breakfast could be an included rather than an avaliable feature of the stay. Offer a package deal for customers having the entire dinner, accommodation and breakfast (having a smaller set menu). The wetroom bathroom was a clever function to the en-suite.

Excellent food and service. Very comfy bed and great place to stay when walking the South Downs Way

Lovely pub in a beautiful village- not far from Arundel. Great spot for exploring the area and the South Downs- will definitely return whenever in the area

Nice hotel and staff. Good food. Breakfast menu could do with being explained a little better and also having to pay for teas and coffees as these were not included in the breakfast was not good. We were in a “cosy double” which was fine but would have been even better if they removed the chair and added a chest of drawers or some shelves.

Located about a mile from the station and close to the South Downs way in a very pretty village of thatched cottages.
Check in is strictly not before 3pm.
Loved our attic room. Gorgeous decor. Super comfy bed. Very welcome after hiking for a couple of days.
Staff lovely. Evening meal excellent.
Breakfast not included in our room rate so we skipped it and headed home early.
Pub is upmarket with a 'Pig' hotel vibe.
Would definitely come back for another visit as we're pretty local.

Mellow bar & restaurant, got there 9 mins before the kitchen closed, so didn't spend much time looking at the menu. Food good if a bit salty.
Nice garden/breakfast room and a good outdoor area at back, lovely place to stretch out on a summer's evening.
Staff helpful.
Bathroom a bit cramped.

Superb. Lovely staff, refined clean and modern accommodation and v.good food (breakfast and dinner). The perfect option for anyone looking for a weekend base situated in a slice of olde England.

The Black Horse is absolutely lovely. Our room was spacious with comfy a super-king size bed and nice bathroom. It was all super clean. Nice tea and coffee is available to the rooms with fresh milk from the 'coffee station'. Being in a village, it's also quiet at night. One thing to note is that it's road parking as the pub does not have a car park.
All the staff were friendly. The dinner was excellent and we had a lovely breakfast too, with fruit, yoghurt, pastries, full English and vegetarian options too.
Arundel is a short drive away. It's easy to walk to the South Downs for a hike along the ridge.

This is an all round great place to stay, eat and relax. The only thing that Hotels.com need to do is show that The Black Horse is in Amberley, not Arundel!

Great overnight stop after walking the South Downs. Food and staff fantastic and overall great value for money. Amazing local gin and fizz if you get the chance to try it.

We really enjoyed our stay at the black horse. Fantastic food, accommodation and staff. All of the staff worked as a team who seemed more like a family Set in the beautiful village of Amberley

Nice place. 9am start a bit slovenly for earliest breakfast. £8.95 for a 250ml wine is a bit steep when a 125ml for the same wine is cheaper at £3.95. Puts the guest on the defensive. Beer prices were ok. Main courses ok and nice, but a bit low on calories for the price. Breakfast was good. There was no tea making facilities in the room, even though this was advertised. Tea was supplied when asked, though in the morning asking was less than perfect when it was obvious the poor soles were struggling to provide breakfast before 9am. Though I do understand that this is a problem for the youth of today!
