About this house rental
Porters Gate is the perfect location for your holiday on the beautiful West Coast of Barbados. This stylish 3 bedroom townhouse is nestled in a quiet gated community less than a 10 minute stroll from stunning beaches. It is the ideal home away from home for discerning couples, friends or families. Entry into the development is by electronic gates, providing both privacy and security.
Number 30 is tastefully decorated and contains everything you’ll need for your stay.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all modern appliances including a wonderful American style fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher.
The open plan lounge has large comfortable sofas and two sets of doors leading out onto a covered patio with dining area and private garden. Here you can take full advantage of the warm tropical evenings and enjoy eating alfresco - or a glass of wine before heading out to one of the many restaurants and bars that the West Coast has to offer.
A powder room is also conveniently located on the ground floor.
Upstairs each of the three bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom, balcony, air-conditioning and ceiling fan. Two rooms have Double beds, the other one, two singles.
Our house manager will be there to welcome you on arrival, and will be available throughout your stay to ensure you have everything that you need. A weekly maid service is included along with a welcome pack of essentials to start you off (tea, coffee, milk, bread, butter and local beers)
Outside
Porters Gate has a tennis court and a communal swimming pool with loungers, perfect for sun-worshippers! The development does not provide any form of supervision so caution must therefore be taken at all times with younger children at the pool area.
ACTIVITIES AND INTERESTS
Beaches
Porters Gate is a short walk to both Heron Bay and Alleyne's Bay. Both are beautiful golden sandy beaches where you can sunbathe, snorkel and swim, and have access to water sports, beach bars and top class restaurants.
Within a short drive are many other beaches on the Platinum coast including Payne's Bay, Sandy Lane beach and Mullins with its well-known lively beach bar. The South and East coasts are easily accessible and all worth a visit.
Golf
Royal Westmoreland is one mile away; Sandy Lane is ten minutes by car.
Water Sports
Enjoy the ocean… have a go at water-skiing or hire a jet ski. Boats and catamarans can be chartered for sightseeing, fishing, diving and snorkelling and of course swimming with the turtles!
Sightseeing
Bridgetown, the country’s capital and Heritage Area is well worth a visit, and is approx. 20 mins by car. Other places of interest are for example St Nicholas Abbey (approx. 30 mins away by car) and Cherry Tree Hill. From here you can explore the beautiful rugged East coast which is on the Atlantic Ocean side of the Island. There are too many places to mention here but do take a look at the guides in your house. “In a Nutshell” is particularly handy to take with you when exploring and has a map too.
Shopping and Restaurants
Holetown is only one mile away. Here you will find bars, coffee shops and the new Limegrove Lifestyle Centre, with its designer shops and a luxurious cinema. There is also a good cross section of restaurants from family eating to high end dining. Holetown also has great historic significance, as it was here that the first British settlers arrived under the rule of King James in 1625.
A large supermarket stocks local and foreign produce including Waitrose products, and there are 3 Banks in the area with ATMS. Close by is the Sandy Crest Medical Centre, which is open 24 hours a day.
Getting Around
Grantley Adams International Airport is a 40 minute drive away.
Car hire is recommended in order that you can fully enjoy the Island but for those of you who do not wish to drive, there is a bus stop at the end of the road and buses are frequent and cheap. There are plenty of taxis available and trips around the Island can be arranged. Please note, we drive on the LEFT here.

We loved the house, clean, nice outdoor eating area and BBQ, good facilities, our kids loved the ensuites, the welcome pack was a nice touch and much appreciated. Being able to use some of the equipment such as beach towels was very handy. We thought the facilities on the comlex were good as well, nice to relax by the pool on an afternoon. Nicky was also very helpful with tips on the local area. Couldn't fault it. We saw monkeys cross mango drive one day as well.

The villa exceeded our expectations as the photos don't do it justice. It was spacious, excellent value for money and in a great location for getting around. We loved sitting on the patio area watching the birds in the garden, especially the humming birds. Porters Gate is a great complex, better than the photos show. Why only 4 stars, well as other reviews say, it is a bit dated and some of the facilities were showing their age. Nicky was very efficient sorting out the broken shower and really helpful right from the initial arrival. We would happily return here and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great value villa on the west coast of Barbados.

This is a very nice place to stay in Barbados with a few good restaurants around and everything you need. The house is cozy and well equipped to cook and to either go to the beach, enjoy the pool or even play tennis. It is a safe and quiet place for a family and I would totally recommend this place and Nicky as a host. The only small detail would be that the wifi isn’t working in the two furthest rooms.

Amazing stay. Overall rating would have been a 5 but the cleaning which was done once a week was not very good. No supply of toilet paper when it ran out. They were only negatives. The manager was great really helpful, nothing too much trouble. We were greeted on arrival. The location was perfect, easy access to buses, beautiful restaurants, shops and entertainment. Would definitely use again

Villa had everything we needed. Eggs, coffee, butter & bread provided on arrival. Fresh towels, handwash & wash liquids also. 8 minute walk to nearest restaurants/bars. Bus stop 3 minutes walk away with frequent service.

We had an amazing 2 weeks at Porters Gate. The house is in a secure, small gated community with a pool, gym and tennis courts. The house is fully equipped with anything you could need and Nicky was so helpful with any questions we had. The house is just a short walk away from incredible beaches and delicious restaurants. Couldn’t recommend this property more!

Nicky informed us the safe would be fixed promptly, and it was.
This home is beautiful, spacious, safe location, and equipped with all the amenities one needs. We enjoyed grilling king fish from the fish market, and cooking/grilling bajan everything. Going to Massey's supermarket, or Melissa's "Fish, Fish, and More Fish" fish market, and having the cooler bags and ice packs in the freezer is accommodating. When we ate in, it was always on the patio.
When I speak of spaciousness, the pictures are accurate, and it can only be appreciated by one's own tour. As young, senior citizens, my husband chose to use a cane for extra stability having had both knee replacements. Mobility was no problem in the villa.
Our adult daughter, enjoyed the bedroom closet and drawer space. As a personal chef, she found the kitchen well-equipped. She liked having a few books available on the shelf to read. She expressed total satisfaction.
In my review, every family who follow in making their own memories will agree. At the pool or on the short walk to the main road, we met the residents who were hospitable and informative. The owner's pamphlet was excellent for offering instructions and information in general. We took advantage of the reputable phone numbers. We had a beautiful holiday at your house in beautiful Barbados, and we will return.

Porters villa review
We have stayed there previously, the house manager Andrea is the best, she is available to answer any questions and a little welcome package is most welcome, as we arrived on May 1, which is a holiday in Barbados. The one area of concern was the tv, which kept freezing due to the input from the cable modem. We had a power outage on the last night and that reset the cable modem to provide normal tv. It did not respond to the normal pull the plug and reset. Just a minor issue as we did not watch much tv.
The location of the villa is just minutes from the shops or beach, and the location is in a quiet complex. Would recommend staying here, we will be back for our golf tournament next year

2 weeks were not quite long enough!
We had a thoroughly enjoyable 2-week holiday at this property. Thank you Andrea for responding to our enquiries, to providing additional cooking containers, and for your beach recommendations. A quick walk to the many beautiful beaches, or a short drive to restaurants offering Bajan and other culinary delights, as well as fresh fish shopping at Ms Young, made for easy living. The very best thing about Barbados of course, is that its people are, for the most part, cheerful and helpful. Happy smiles greeted us everywhere; polite drivers stopped to allow entry by car or crossings on foot; a delightful catamaran cruise by Dwight and Andre on Shasa; perfect weather; and most of the comforts of home. Not much more to ask for. Thank you and until next time.

my wife & I stayed 25 days at the villa.. The villa was excellent/well furnished.. We enjoyed the outside patio/we had our coffee in the morning & dinner at night.. Andrea/was very helpful with anything we needed for the villa.. The only issue we had was the walk to the beach/was a little long.. We did not have a car/we walked to the beach every day. A car would be nice/but if you don't mine walking you can survive without a car.. The beaches were excellent/excellent food/the local people were very nice.. We would recommend this condo..

Lovely townhouse in gated community
Very nice 3 bed townhouse, excellent facilities and well maintained. Good location, 10 mins walk to beaches and 3 mins to main road for reggae bus. Holetown is walkable in about 20 minutes. All in all great stay and would def return

Spacious and well equipped townhouse
We have just spent 2 week’s over Christmas and New Year at Porters Gate. We had a fabulous holiday and really enjoyed staying in this townhouse.
The house is very spacious with a good size open plan kitchen/living area. The kitchen is very well equipped and the welcome pack on arrival was an extra bonus.
We also enjoyed sitting out on the patio area where there is a good size dining table and a small couch and two chairs. The garden is very private.
The bedrooms are all very spacious and light with good size ensuites and plenty of storage space.
There is also a cupboard full of cool bags, beach chairs and tennis rackets/balls etc which we used.
The complex is gated and felt secure and has a nice pool and tennis court. It is also at the end of a cul de sac and a few minutes walk from the main road so it is also very quiet
We didn’t hire a car so travelled to places by bus. The bus stop to the city is at the end of the road. Most days we walked to the beach near the LoneStar restaurant which takes about 15 minutes. You just have to be careful in places as there is no pavement!
Andrea the property manager was very helpful before we arrived and arranged airport transfers. She also met us at the property on arrival and explained everything to us. She also quickly sorted out a few minor issues with the house.
We would definitely recommend Porters Gate

30 Porters Gate
The property loacated within 10 min walk to the beach, was a perfect location for my family. The golf courses are within a five min drive from the house! Andrea the property manager stayed probably later then she expected to be there, waiting for our arrival and welcomed us, with a tour of the house and amenities. A welcome package of the essentials was icing on the cake as we had been traveling all day, so just to have some milk and coffee was truly a treat. We would recommend this property and location for the golf and beach and a peaceful get away.

Fabulous
We were delighted with this property, having visited Barbados on numerous previous occasions, staying all inclusive , we decided to rent a villa, so we could eat out more, and see the delights Barbados has to offer... this is a special holiday whee my sister and I take my mother (93) away for her birthday. So we each had our own bedroom, which was brilliant , it gave us the space to have privacy and comfort... the house is fabulous, with every amenity you need , the furnishings are great, beds comfy... just great . The location is great, walking distance from the gorgeous beaches and warm sea. Very quiet .. just perfect... I would not hesitate to recommend this delightful home from home house.

Lovely house in a perfect location!
Georgie's house is wonderful! The house itself is in a good gated complex with pool and tennis court, whilst still only being a short walk from the amazing Caribbean Sea. The property is fully equipped with everything you might need whilst away. We would definitely come back!
