The rooms are very peacefully located in a beautiful nature setting. The pool is great and overall it's an easy place to relax and take time away from the world! The little store is incredibly useful, it is supplied daily with all essentials like cereal, milk, eggs, beers, soda and much more!
The staff are available for help and very respectful and thoughtful, they bought extra cereal of the kind we liked, without us asking for it :)
Also the cat is great!
The cabin is not completely sealed from the outdoors, with decorative holes, gaps in floor panelling and between doors and floor. This means that a variety of lizards and insects can easily come into the room. When showering we had lizards coming out of the drain on multiple occasions. If you're okay with this, then it's a nice, natural and rustic experience.
The furniture is a bit old and looks worn out, not a major problem, since we spent most of our time going around the island and sitting by the pool! It wouldn't hurt to change the sofas.
The fact that you have to pay 25MYR for AC per night is a bit nidicolous in a country where at night it's still 26C. It's a small amount of money, but would just be better to include in the price and not have to bother someone to come and turn it on.

The location is fantastic 👌. The owner is very friendly.
The house was good, the traditional design and decoration.
The property was open for mosquitoes and insects, either from the windows or the wooden floor.
During the night, the wend was blowing all the time , making it difficult to sleep as it is impossible to isolate windows or doors.
Squirrels were running at the top of the roof, making noise.
AC is available. However, it requires additional charge. But the challenge is that the property is not isolated, making it difficult to control room temperature or humidity.

Thr peace and quite of the rice patties, was not only breath taking but so relaxing. Great family location, and the owners and staff were exceptional.
Absolutely nothing, so much better than staying in the big cities

Everything was great to be honest. Rose was super lovely, accommodating and made us feel extremely welcome. Our house was spotless and had everything we needed (towels, crockery, tea/ coffee etc) which we could also replace at the shop on site, which we found extremely helpful. The pool had a great view overlooking the paddy fields and we enjoyed the sunset. Overall a great stay.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Sunset Valley Holiday Houses in Langkawi, Malaysia recently, and I would like to share my balanced opinion. On the whole, my experience was largely positive, marked by picturesque views, spacious accommodations, and helpful staff. However, it was not without a few drawbacks.
From the moment I set foot on the property, I was captivated by the alluring panoramic view of the surroundings, which included vibrant green fields, magnificent mountains, and the gentle setting sun. The scenic beauty provided a perfect backdrop for relaxation and meditation, adding a unique charm to the entire vacation.
I stayed in one of their large villa houses, which was tastefully furnished and offered ample space. It was an absolute delight to come back to such comfortable accommodation after a day of exploring Langkawi’s treasures. Moreover, the convenient small supermarket on the premises meant that essentials were never far away, adding to the convenience.
But, what truly elevated my experience was the friendly and accommodating staff. They went above and beyond in their service, ensuring my stay was comfortable. A special mention goes out to their understanding and flexibility at check-out when I fell short of cash. The team was incredibly understanding and accepted all the cash I had, which I highly appreciated.
However, the stay was not without a few snags. The biggest issue was the water drainage in the shower box, which could definitely use some improvement. The water drained very slowly, creating a puddle that made the bathroom look untidy and unclean.
Secondly, I was somewhat taken aback by the extra charge for the air conditioner. It wasn’t the fee itself that bothered me, but rather the lack of communication about the policy, and even more, the fact that it was a cash-only payment. A heads-up about this from the staff would have been appreciated.
Lastly, the efficiency of the air conditioning in the living room could be improved. Despite running for a considerable amount of time, it failed to cool the room adequately, causing slight discomfort during the hotter parts of the day.
Despite these inconveniences, my overall stay at the Sunset Valley Holiday Houses was a delightful one. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a tranquil getaway in Langkawi, with a caveat to bring enough cash and to be prepared for minor hiccups.
The Sunset Valley Holiday Houses have a lot going for them, and with a few improvements, they could be an even more attractive option for a memorable Langkawi vacation.

It is private property; there are not many guests. Hence it is tranquil indeed. The owner is very helpful and responsive. I stayed in the Field House, and the view was breathtaking. If I came during the paddy planting season, it would be spectacular. Rose (the staff) is also accommodating and kind.
The second night we experienced a 2-hour blackout. There were also quite a lot of mosquitoes.

The host Madam Gudrun were super nice and always checking up on you. " 6 of us stay at Forest House", and the house is fully equip with all you need. The house architecture is marvelous and represent the Malay traditional houses. If you feel like experiencing a Malay culture the houses actually gave you the feeling of it. We love the cats- the cats were very adorable, especially Katmandu. The swimming pool were very nice and warm- you may swim until 10:30PM. The surrounding are very scenic and beautiful. The property is closed by to Mahsuri Mausoleum and Nasi Dagang Pak Malau, which is our favourite place to have breakfast.
Well, it is worth to mentioned here that the compound is guarded by 3 dogs, therefore it is probably not really Muslim friendly or if you are not use to be around dogs. The dogs are not tied up. However the dogs are harmless and did not bother you most of the time. Also like to highlight here the Air-condition is additional and you will be charged RM 25 per unit per day.
The entrance to the property can be a bit scary at night. I think it is about 150 meter drive from the main road and very dark at night. Recommended for owner to consider to put in some lighting along the way from the main road to the property main gate. The property is a bit far from the amenities and you need to drive a bit to get to the shops.
However we feel the experience of staying in the house and the surrounding area outweigh the others small2 hassle which is not really a big deal.

Kampung life experience. The view was beautiful.
The wifi reception was quite poor in the house. Had to use my roaming data to search for places to go.

The resort is clean, beautiful, and amazing! super quiet and relaxing. We really enjoyed our time at this resort. The owner of the resort (Gorgon) is fabulous, friendly, and helpful. If going back to Langkawi, we'll go back here again.
Remember, you need to rent a car if staying there.

The environment. The garden and the original Malay houses were really nice and authentic. Everything was fine, a place to be and to come back!
Nothing except for a small detail: we would have apreciated to be able to make coffee in the house. Nevertheless we found a good coffee adress in the neighbourhood.

We had a magnificent stay at this unique boutique hotel. The units are self contained beautifully restored wooden Malay houses that's hundreds of years old. The view is to die for - set amongst lush rice paddies and looking to the west. It's a stay full of character and atmosphere.
