the location was lovely, and the beds were a wee bit hard, but fine

Everything about this property was great and the river in the backdrop and nature is really hard to beat. The staff was great and it was amazing to be among the people. It's really easy to get into town on the bus and tons of adventure surrounding the area.

The peace and quiet, the river and its sounds
Didn't like the trash can for used toilet paper,
chaise in the living room was uncomfortable to sit on.
4.5
The peacefulness on the river in the mountains Best place to relax the owner was amazing so helpful and when I left a couple items of clothing behind he delivered them to my next hotel without even me calling him
A little bit out of the way but that’s the beauty of it also and the bus service is very convenient

Buscaba tranquilidad y la encontré, el sonido del río es espectacular y el personal súper amable.
Todo estuvo bien

Being right off of the river.

Well constructed with beautiful views of the river.
Far from center of town.

Great location, lovely room, very comfortable.
We would have loved to order coffee and breakfast but had to travel too early.

felt like Mexico, a real relief to be in the country after the bustle of PV. Breakfast was great !
the river and the sounds of the river made me happy. It was wonderful to see the families playing in the river
wish there was a central water container rather than having to buy individual water bottles.too much plastic pollution in the world .
4.5
The river was in the back yard. Very tranquil. Nearby were natural spring pools. The staff were very helpful.

Great location, beautiful and peaceful at night with the sound of the river in the background. Away from the hubbub of PV center, but easy to get to by bus or taxi. Clean and comfortable. Mario was friendly and extraordinarily helpful. He went out of his way to help me personally. A great experience!

what I most liked about the property was being right next to the river
I didn’t like that when I took a shower the water leaked to the hallway

Loved the river, its sound, very soothing, being by the river. Picnics on little beaches by the river. Room was good. Bed very comfortable. Always hot water. Recommend room with kitchen and bathroom. Some good artworks but needs better placement to look really good. Also the chair situation by the river...needs a little loving care, chairs etc
Mario is a great guy, very likable and helpful but not easily available. Written indications could have resolved this difficulty...a lot of guessing. The place is very clean, thankyou Martha, but the street outside is loud and very dirty and dusty air. Buses came, but, oh, so much waiting and not knowing when. However it's not far to PV and one can walk at a pinch. Communal cooking in the casa too awkward and not thought out ....so people end up eating out. Lacks lights in many places. Sun comes late and leaves early. No balcony but great rooftop. Forest view unique!

Maria was lovely cooking us scrambled eggs etc
There is a guest fridge available for keeping milk etc in and a kettle to make tea.
Some better seating by the river.. it's such a beautiful spot for relaxing.

The location was beautiful and scenic. We could sit and watch birds and something that we thought was a monkey.
The location is beautiful but we sometimes had difficulties getting to and from the town of Puerto Vallarta. Sometimes it was difficult to find an Uber and most locals consider the location to be out of town. They did have a cheap (10 peso) bus but when we were in a hurry we found it a bit stressful.

prefect get away, the river flow at night is so amazing & sounds of nature, everything was clean & comfortable.
I can not think of a thing, everything was great.
4.5
The tranquility of hearing A running River will definitely bring me back to visit such a special place.
Everything was great!!
4.5
The location is beautiful, a quiet village away from tourists surrounded by nature and the river. The roar of the river is so soothing. Hosts are great and i enjoyed breakfast.
4.5
The rooms face the river and the roar of the water completely conceals any limited traffic noise from the road on the other side. You would never know there was a road there. It makes it feel like wilderness, which I loved.
Martha who cleans is lovely. Limited English, but she’ll do anything to help you. I’m working on my Spanish all the time. Mario, whose family owns the place speaks a lot more English and he’s eager to help.
I loved that there was a shared kitchen. Just don’t expect to cook your breakfast at the same time that Marta is preparing paid breakfast for others. It’s a small place, but there’s no crowding. There’s a lovely place to sit and a great sand-filled terrace down by the river to lounge in, again concealing any sound or site of the road up above, on the other side of the Casa.
Fresh air and starry skies at night. Finally to stay somewhere in Mexico where it’s dark and peaceful at night and not lit up by neon!! It feels like you’re in a different world, but only a 15 minute ride up the canyon with a bus or Uber or taxi. It’s really only a couple miles from town. It’s very simple accommodations, so don’t expect any luxury. But it’s clean and friendly, Has decent mattresses and checks all the important boxes.
On weekend mornings there’s a fellow who was selling fresh ceviche, both shrimp and fish kinds, and tortillas, out in front of a little Tienda about 50 or 100 m upriver from the Casa. he keeps it safely on ice in a cooler and it was heavenly delicious. I had one tortilla piled with each kind and the whole plate that filled me up was only 59 pesos.
The showers were reasonable, with enough hot water, but water is getting more and more precious, so please turn it off everywhere when it’s not essential.
Just a 10 or 15 minute walk down stream, back toward town, is a restaurant with an enormous patio called something like Rio BBQ, though their menu has far more than just barbecue, including salads.
It was minor, but the buses quit running up the canyon about 8 PM or so. Don’t believe anyone in PV who gives you an exact cut off time. it’s easier to get an Uber or taxi going up than it is to get one going down, but I had the impression that the taxis hang around at that barbecue restaurant I was talking about. I never went without transportation.
One of the toilets was backing up, so be sure you throw your toilet paper in the trashcan, and don’t ever flush it. It’s common practice in a lot of places.

We had a wonderful couple nights staying by the river!
The room was spacious and lovely with a comfy big bed. The shared bathroom was big and really clean, the showers were fantastic.
The hostel is so unique, and the river view was incredible. The jungle is beautiful and full of life!!
Lovely space by the river, where we sat and had breakfast.
Easy buses outside the hostel for 10 pesos into the town, where the beach is beautiful and the town is so pretty, with great food options.
We also walked the 25mins from the beach up to the hostel, it was stunning and allowed us to see the beautiful area!
Mario was friendly and really helpful, he made us feel welcome and we really enjoyed our stay.

this is not a luxury vacation property, and they are very clear about that. this is a great value in a beautiful location with cozy rooms and shared bathrooms that are clean and have good water pressure. the river is beautiful and peaceful to listen to as you drift off to sleep.
the internet sometimes doesn’t work due to the location - this is not the hotels fault it is because they are in the mountains. guests should be patient and try reconnecting - they kindly provide three WiFi networks and you should be able to connect for essential purposes. but I recommend guests get off the phone and enjoy the natural beauty of the location.

Great location on the river! Everyone was so kind. Window opened right onto the river. There’s a small convenience store next door and several others within walking distance. It felt like a little home. Would love to stay longer.
ATVs driving down the road to go to Jorullo Bridge! Loud.
FYI - This is not a place for those who want to live in the lap of luxury. It’s comfortable, basic, and sweet.

hard to get a taxi around

we loved this little getaway , upstream from Puerto Vallarta . loved swimming in the River right off your back door patio , the hiking during the day , and Rio Barbque with good food and music was about 15 minute walk.. the place was friendly, exceptionally clean and well run
we liked everything

The outdoor area beside the river, the large bedroom and selection of TV channels, modern bathroom, great kitchen and dining area with meals cooked for you or you can cook your own and the above and beyond service from the staff 😁

The stunning location so close to the city but far removed from the tourists.
More transparency about the current state of the area due to construction from the hurricane in 2021.
4.5
It appeared to be clean and everything was working.
It was chilly inside - but not a lot.
4.5
A quiet 7 room hotel on a river. We watched birds. A comfortable room with a well equiped kitchen. Met our needs.

We loved the location right by the river and away from from the crowds of town. We ended up staying an extra night so we could enjoy more time just chilling by the river. Mario was super helpful in helping us make our way to the bus station early morning, and we really enjoyed the breakfast. Recommended!
The bus didn’t seem to run too regularly so we mostly walked when wanting to head towards town or back. This wasn’t a problem for us at all though!
