I recently stayed at this hotel and was very disappointed with the experience. The rooms were dirty and uncomfortable, with a strong smell of mold that made it an unhealthy environment for my family. This was far from the relaxing stay we had hoped for. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel to others.

No nonsense perfectly located and measly priced hotel.

Front desk people very rude and not helpful. Worst part o woke up and water was leaking from ceiling all over my clothes and electronics. As I went to tell the people at front desk at they said was do you need maintenance, no I'm sorry or I'll have management call or what can I do do help.

The location and room was amazing. The short distance to the beach was great. Only thing that could be better is maybe getting a beach chair as part of the resort package like other hotels offer.

Location was great room, was large was clean and the bed was super comfy.

Location was great, but having to go to another hotel for breakfast was an issue. Advertising was a bit misleading, but overall an ok hotel.

Unfortunately there was construction going on in the alley, WHICH MADE IT HELL IN THE MORNING...THEY WERE BANGING LIKE CRAZY AT 8A!!!! I DONT KNOW HOW ANYONE SLEPT, BUT I DIDNT GET ANY SLEEP!!! Everything else ok, but i should get redeemed a night or two!!!

But this hotel needs a rehabilitation bad! The bathroom hardware was rusted over, the cloth painting on the wall had mold/dirt on it, the blinds on the window were peeling, mirrored wall was peeling around the edges. I'm 6 months pregnant and took the stairs because the elevator was a "death-trap". For me the convenience of the location doesn’t make up for the lack of care. The free breakfast/welcome drink were nice.

Not worth the price for breakfast(scrambled eggs,soggy waffles,diluted coffee,corn flakes) + rude waitress
Note: breakfast and pool are in the next hotel at back and need to walk it down.
Overall there are better hotels to stay for a decent price and breakfast in the next street.

Enjoyed the hotel. Only issue was with mattress. It was a bit bouncy springy for my liking. Could use for an updated mattress. Everything else was great! Location is optimal for food drink ocean

Right on Ocean Dr. by the beach! Two blocks from the Versace Villa! Away from the loudest Ocean Dr. part. Walking distance to Lincoln Rd. shopping area. The hotel has a perfect location but NO PARKING though. Valet parking available (expensive) around the corner in front of another hotel. Suggestion: don’t rent a car- get Uber, if needed. Everything is walking distance and you DONT need a car. NO SWIMMING POOL here. A very small swimming pool is in another hotel’s rooftop, which you will be allowed to use. Overall a bit rundown but very clean.

Very helpful and approachable staff, we felt welcome, water in room and access to pool at neighbouring hotel. Free drink included however we don’t drink. Beaches are a very short walk away. Multiple food options, from casual to fancy, and take out options. Free breakfast. Overall great atmosphere. Will come again. :-)

no parking lot in the building. You have to walk two streets in order to park your car. Plus you have to carry all your luggage if you want to get it to the hotel.

The rooms are cramped and a bit worn. The front desk doesn’t have shower caps that many women use.

Easy last minute booking. Helpful staff. Location in the middle of all south Beach action. These guys take their penguins seriously.

Older place, but it’s been redone pretty nicely. The staff was great and very accommodating. The only thing that could be looked into is the the shower pressure other than that, the place is great. I would definitely stay here again.

Have stayed in South Beach many times. This hotel is nice because it’s on the northern part of South Beach so it’s a little quieter. Resort fee amenities are generous, the hotels, clean, and overall a great deal.

Was OK overall. I had an issue with my reservation and was told to email the front desk with my issue yet they didn't respond. They have no phone number and no one can help you other than the front desk people that can only be reached by email. My issue may not have been resolvable but ignoring my email is not acceptable...

The parking was horrendous!!!!!! They should have a valet that would take the car and park it. We could not find parking where we were told to go and ended spending $160 ……no joke. That was one night !!!! Thank goodness we booked one day at this hotel. Never doing that again.

Well, the hotel does show it's age, unfortunately I'd say it's not as nice as it looks. There are no other services at the Penguin hotel, you have to go to their sister hotel, The President Hotel for the bar, pool, etc. Also, there is no staff at the desk at night, you have to contact the President Hotel if you need anything.

Location is everything! The hotel is old, but in good repair. There are no amenities at this location. The bar and pool are at the sister hotel. But this hotel is right across from the beach! Be aware there are a few stairs to get into the hotel. Also, taxis cannot drive you to the door as the street is blocked to traffic. You must haul your suitcases a little bit.

Pretty nice. Was expecting worse based on other reviews. Our room was very clean and presentable. Overall hotel was dated but trying to get there. Bar/front restauarnt wasn't open.
The resort fee us a joke you have to pay it for breakfast and a bottle of water per day.
The breakfast was hard to get find in another building and line out the door. Not worth the wait or resort fee.

We loved how kind all of the staff was! It's a quaint little hotel on the main stripe, across from the beach and close to all of the action in town...we didn't have to walk far to get to all of the site and restaurants.

I loved the decor and attention to details. Staff was excellent. The elevator was broken twice so that we had to carry our bags down from the 3rd floor. I chose your facility because you had an in house bar and breakfast. You really need to let bookings know that neither of those are at your facility. Seems misleading.
Your staff saved the rating with cleanliness and trying to be helpful.

Had the terrace suite lots of clanking hear. The bathtub/shower has a crack in the bottom. Construction going on around property but that wasnt bad.

The property is located in a very convenient location close to the beach, dining places, shops, etc. Rooms are little small and don't expect a luxury experience in this hotel. It's good for stopover stay for few nights. Overall I would recommend this hotel to stay on Ocean Drive in a budget.

Not so great. The hotel is old and was renovated badly. Furniture was cheap and damaged. It was inconvenient to have to go to another hotel to get breakfast/drinks. The street in front of the hotel has been closed for some time but that is not mentioned in the description

This was our second time staying at The Penguin Hotel! It’s clean and convenient and located around everything you would need. The beach is right across the street. Your booking comes with free drinks, beach towels, breakfast, pool, and luggage storage. What more would we need? 😊

Very quaint - it’s outdated but that’s part of the charm. Clean and easy to get to restaurants. It’s partnered with the President Hotel and the breakfast is off site which may not be easy for everyone.

Location location location! Right beside the ocean with lots of restaurants steps away. Ocean blvd is lively (there was an art deco weekend when we were there) and so much fun.
I would stay here again!
