This is a nice, cozy home that sleeps 8 (which is great differentiator - when I looked, a lot of homes even though they have plenty of space and rooms, only want to sleep a max of 6). View was beautiful. Game tables in the basement were a big hit with our kids and ended up having a family tournament the last night there. We utilized the private boat dock for fishing and briefly docking a rental pontoon boat. (Warning: it’s pretty shallow there and the neighbor’s dock is pretty close - might be a hairy situation if you’re not experienced bringing boats into dock.) The place was pretty clean, with a couple quibbles that led me to deduct one star overall, but nothing that was a show stopper. We had one complaint related to the master bedroom, and we couldn’t use it for one night of our stay. To their credit, Vacasa staff took care of it the next day, and they made it right with a partial refund for one night for one bedroom, which felt fair. Made friends with the neighbors.
Overall, this is a nice lake home that enabled us to have a lovely family vacation. I believe we got fair value for our money and time, and I felt like Vacasa and the home owners were fair to us. I therefore recommend this property.

Enjoyed our stay! Family of 5 - house is well described in the listing. We fit comfortably in the house; rented a boat and jet ski and used the kayaks and could easily get out on the lake from this great location; nice kitchen table for evening board games and lovely porch for morning tea!

The home met our basic needs for a place to stay. It was comfortable and clean. I’ll be at a bit dated. Vacasa was very responsive and immediate with their response. The one time I reached out to them about the extended stay. We had a great time. Smiles on the faces of my grandkids, and their parents was worth every penny. I spent on renting this home.

We loved it! Perfect for our family with different ages. People could be in different places! We loved walking to the end of the road and seeing all the deer and bunnies! Swimming was great! A few more pots and pans and cooking utensils would help and the info that I would get from Vacasa was different than what was on the fridge. Info should match!!! We really did have a wonderful time! Thank you!

Positives:
The location is great, the home has its own dock, beautiful view of the lake, and minutes away from Smith Mountain Lake State Park. The grill on the deck facing the lake was awesome.
Needs Improvement:
While the kitchen is well stocked with plates and utensils, the state they were found in was disappointing. They were noticeably still greasy/dirty. The grill on the deck is great but it was also found dirty. We were provided with a “starter kit” for toilet paper. We had a group of 8 people and it wasn’t enough for the weekend. I understand why they wouldn’t provide an unlimited supply but I think they should at least be able to supply for a short weekend trip. Additionally, there is a coffee machine but no filter so you also have to bring your own. They don’t provide enough kitchen towels either. The A/C upstairs for the two smaller bedrooms is not efficient, we had trouble sleeping due to it. The queen bed in the smallest bedroom is so uncomfortable. It needs to be replaced, there’s a large dip and they tried covering it with a mattress topper. We slept on the couch the last night due to the bed/AC making it difficult to get sleep.
Accessibility Considerations:
The stairs are very narrow. One of us fell down the stairs. Take extra precaution with kids or elderly.
****Overall I would only recommend if you are looking to do a lot of lake activities and don’t mind an older outdated home with limited supplies. Having your own dock is very convenient and overall proximity to lake is the biggest attraction with this location.

Nice and relaxing. Very accommodating

The house is dated but the decor is really trendy and cute. There’s No extra things like paper towels, trash bags, tinfoil etc….so if you’re relying on anything extra like that being there, it’s not! The kitchen is pretty well stocked with dishes etc…

Nice house, location was quiet and nice. We had a lot of rain, which was a damper. But when the sun came out we were able to enjoy the lake. Accommodations were perfect.
Towels were rough and need to be replaced. Grill burners need cleaned.
We didn’t have enough towels for everyone, but that was fixed within 24 hours.

The house is totally updated and very clean. We loved the location as well. The kitchen and bathroom had everything we needed.

The check-in process was very easy and the house was exactly as advertised. We enjoyed the fire pit and using the grill. Very peaceful and the view was just beautiful. We rented a boat for part of our stay, so it was perfect to have a dock. I would highly recommend renting this beautiful home!

Property was perfect for our needs.
However, the washing machine leaks, consequently the basement smells like mildew. There is a dehumidifier running, but that does not take care if the water leaking on the floor.
Dryer door will not stay closed.
Upstairs bathroom has mildew in the shower.

We spent a wonderful spring break at this vacation home.

We had a fantastic time. Great layout for families staying with kids. Only thing that could have improved would have been more kitchen cooking utensils, but we made it work!

We were incredibly pleased with the flexibility. We had an exposure to Covid quarantine in the fall just days before our trip and we were able to switch. Thank you. The house was ok. Nothing fancy, but it served our purpose. Some of the checkin checkout stuff were very unusual - making our own beds when we checked in and washing /putting away all dishes at checkout - but we were satisfied with the rental. Thanks again for the flexibility.

Only issue is that the frying pans are not good. Old non-stick pans with chipped surfaces - I do not believe it is healthy to use such cookware and recommend it be changed. Everything else was nice.

We really enjoyed staying at DockSun. The neighbors mostly live there year-round and were very friendly, but not in an intrusive way. Easy to get to the store and Parkway Marina.

Thank you for allowing us to use your home for our vacation. We were blown away by how clean the house was! A few in our family have severe allergies and this was a real blessing to us. You have sweet neighbors and the basement was huge fun. Thank you so much!

We loved the house, location, the dock and kayaks. It was quiet, and peaceful. the house was clean and well kept.
however, midway through the week we discovered water had leaked in the basement. i called to report and was told the owner was looking into getting someone out to take care of this. It wasn't initially a problem, however the water increased, creating puddles all around the washer and dryer - pretty slick, i was afraid of falling so we did not do laundry, and by the end of the week, the basement was pretty smelly.
the other issue was at check in - the agreement says no early check in, and is quite firm about not arriving early. so we planned and arrived promptly at 4 pm. The cleaning crew was still working and we were not allowed in the house for another 35-40 min. We appreciate the awesome cleaning job, but would have liked to be in the house on time.

The view was beautiful. The beds were very comfortable. The neighbors were above and beyond friendly! They even took us out on their boat. Absolutely perfect vacation. We were sad to leave!
