The location is beautiful, close to wineries and hiking and the donkeys/goats on the farm were so much fun for children. The pool was a wonderful plus and was so much fun. We had some problems during our stay that were somewhat addressed. The host forwarded us the downstairs AC would be broken and they put as many fans as possible which helped immensely and they were very forthcoming before we arrived with the issue. The home was not as clean or organized as I have come to expect and could use some more detailed cleaning between guests. We also had an issue with mice in the home and some bugs in the kitchen which soured our stay. Hopefully this will be addressed before additional guests stay at the property. Overall, it is a very spacious home and private property perfect for families and groups that if additional cleaning and pest control are arranged would be 5 stars.

The house had a huge kitchen, dining room and common room for socializing. You could spend hours going from room to room looking at the antiques, furnishings and art. Huge collection of VHS tapes and DVD's if you want to spend time in front of the TV. Beds were overall very comfortable and the house was very clean. The pool was the biggest attraction for our hot summer visit and very nice that plenty of pool towels were provided. Simply the most unique and awesome house rental experience I've ever had!

I was a family member attending our mini family reunion. My age is 77 and this is important to know for this review.
I will begin with the only drawback and that being, I wish we had one or 2 more bedrooms. That said, all was ok because some did not make it.
Now! To my review! I fell in love with your homestead, to the point I would love it for my family and myself. I live in the Adirondacks and was born in the Smokies however, I am in love with your Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge Mountains! I understand how this farm became a joyful gathering place over the years for your loved ones.
I never left the property but my family members found plenty to do including tubing the James River and that magnificent tunnel! (a must from their videos and excitement). Their day of adventures away from the house, I spent with the family dog soaking up the gorgeous view, visiting the farm animals and sitting around the pool. The day was too short for me. There were books, antiques and rooms in this old home I didn’t get to see and fully visit. I felt like a Walton! I will be back!
The caretakers were so friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. We could not ask for better service. However, we needed little because everything was available and at hand. I would love them as neighbors! Southern hospitality, at its best!
Thank you for opening your home for us to enjoy. I will be back to visit this little piece of Heaven.

We traveled with our children and some extended family for a 4 night stay. This house was a great location for exploring Monticello/Charlottesville, as well as the surrounding vineyards and breweries.
We love the feel of a farmhouse that’s not “too fussy” yet very nicely decorated and appointed with modern amenities. Everything was clean and as described (the only thing missing was the horse that apparently passed away). The pool was perfect and picturesque against the other 200-year-old building that is also on property.
I’d definitely love to return and I’d recommend this property to other visitors to the area.

This property exceeded my expectations and communication with Linda was always prompt and responsive. Our family could not stop talking about wonderful the experience was and we talked about making another trip sometime in the future. It was a peaceful, relaxing getaway...100% would recommend if you are looking for a place around the Charlottesville area.

This farm house is like taking a step back in time. The animals were friendly and fun to feed. The beds were comfortable. The only hiccup was we needed a blender and couldn't find one anywhere. I would stay here again. Great house and property.

Huge house with tons of character. Lots of space for our group. Movies, games and activities everywhere. Huge kitchen with everything we needed to cook Thanksgiving dinner. I had no idea 2 ovens would be so helpful.

We had 7 people and there was plenty of space! The house had everything we needed with the exception of ice and was clean. A few chairs are older and could stand to be replaced. The new mattresses on the beds were great but are speaky for the two rooms with box springs. The kitchen is well-appointed for cooking. Overall, we had a great stay!

We ended up having 7 guests stay for my daughter's wedding at Valley Road Vineyards. We had a great time at the Farmhouse and it had wonderful amenities. Bedrooms were great as well as the kitchen and living area downstairs. We enjoyed the piano.

Our stay at this farmhouse was just wonderful. So peaceful and relaxing and we had some of the most beautiful views. The house was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed, with the exception of no wifi (cellular service is terrible in the area if you’re on ATT or Verizon). The pool was refreshing as it was really hot there the week we stayed. Lastly the animals are super friendly. We enjoyed taking our 2 dogs for a walk every day and visiting the goats, pig and horse. Thank you Linda for being a wonderful host.

We stayed here to celebrate our good friend who is getting married (there were 8 of us total)! Overall, we had a good experience!
Pros: The house was clean and very spacious! There were several rooms that we did not even use. The house was well stocked with blankets, towels, pool towels, and silverware, dishwater, mugs, etc. There was a fire pit and lawn games (corn hole) that we used almost every night! The house is also very close to some local breweries, wineries, and hiking and about 30 minutes to downtown Charlottesville- great location!
Cons: There was no wifi. We weren’t able to use the pool during our visit because of an algae issue, this is something that we were all looking forward to use as part of the amenities. An earlier review mentioned the algae issue, so it would have been nice to know that this was not resolved prior to us arriving. Also, there was a mouse in the house that we trapped in the downstairs bathroom on our last night. We understand there may be rodents due to the farm and animals but this is not something we wanted to see during our trip. I contacted the host due to these issues and am awaiting to hear a response to see if we are able to get any money back.
Overall, we would definitely visit the area again but probably look for an alternate place to stay due to some of the issues that we personally experienced during our trip.

Great views and the house has so many interesting things. Plenty of books, games and old movies to occupy the kids. Only bummer was the pool had an algae bloom so we couldn't swim which took some of the wind out of the sails but plenty of other stuff to do. The ladies liked the nearby shops and I liked the quiet. Caretaker was awesome to talk to as well!

We enjoyed our stay so very much. The house, the furnishings, farm animals, swimming pool were all so delightful. Thank you for sharing it with us.

We all enjoyed our stay. We had 7 kids and 4 adults. The pool was great. The kids loved the animals. The rooms were large and well maintained. We all enjoyed the movie room. The kitchen had every kind of cooking and eating utensils and devices you could think of. Near by stores, eateries, wineries, breweries and caverns.

This property is very special if you like country, a beautiful view, and animals. There is a great deck from which to enjoy the view, and a nice pool area. The animals are very friendly, and so cute. The location is convenient for the many wineries, and close enough to Charlottesville if you need town stuff. The only downside is the lack of internet service.

Our family had a great time at this cozy farmhouse. The house itself was more spacious than expected, and we were able to use the movie and music rooms as extra bedrooms (with air mattresses that we brought). There are 3 eating areas (the breakfast nook, the formal dining room, and the outdoor picnic deck). There is no WiFi at the house. The kids (and even the adults) loved interacting with all of the farm animals!

Our group enjoyed the spacious and comfy house. Very well equipped in a beautiful setting. The location is super accessible to 151 but in a nice quiet location - the only noise we ever heard were the lovely tree frogs.

We stayed with our 4 kids (aged 1-8). We had family stay with us as well during a portion of our stay. We loved the views, the animals, and the charm of the home. We didn't have the best weather during our trip, but there were games and movies at the home to entertain us. My kid's favorite activity by far was visiting with the animals multiple times a day. There is a horse, pic, goats, and chickens. There is a fenced in in ground pool that was unfortunately out of order during our stay, but the weather wasn't pool weather anyways. The host was very responsive to messages and very accommodating. There's a lot of fun to be had locally and within short driving distances (frontier center, Shenandoah National Park, blue ridge tunnel, wineries, breweries, monticello, etc.) We are very grateful for the memories made and happy with our choice in VRBO.

Comfortable and private. Owner and caretaker very responsive to inquiries. Only drawbacks: no w-fi and unable to lock the house up.

Our family enjoyed staying at this cozy farmhouse with farm animals on a huge property, which was quite peaceful. The farmhouse was quite spacious with lots of rooms on the bottom floor (mud room, open kitchen, breakfast nook, big dining room with a big bay window, movie/gaming room, study room with telescopes and piano, bathroom, and a great room with lots of book and board games, as well as space for everyone to gather). The upstairs had 3 big bedrooms with lots of beds in the rooms as well as a bunk bed outside the master, as well as two full bathrooms with one in the hallway and one in the master. Lots of amenities; love the decor. Excellent communication, providing info about checking in and checkout. Only minor issue (mainly with the kids playing games on their tablets in various rooms) with WiFi, which is a hotspot located in the kitchen, so WiFi spotty or non-existent if not within the hotspot range). Overall a very enjoyable experience and would definitely stay again. Highly recommend! Thank you!

We stayed here while we went up to wintergreen for skiing and snow boarding.

We enjoyed a relaxing weekend at the farm house. The leaves were gorgeous and it was a very easy drive to Waynesboro for hubby who attended a weekend class and to Charlottesville for us to visit family. We enjoyed driving around Afton Mt and going into Nellysford for dinner and icecream at Black Bear. There were wineries, breweries and distilleries all around to enjoy. We enjoyed feeding the animals, walking the property, and farm-fresh eggs! We could tell it was a much loved house. No one wanted to leave and we wished we could stay longer. We hope to come back sometime in the summer and try out the pool and definitely for another fall trip. Thank you!
