About this house rental
Guests will be amazed by the stunning features of this five-bedroom home atop the Barrenjoey Headland.
There’s the position, obviously, with sweeping views up and down Pittwater and the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. Then there’s the area – Palm Beach is Sydney’s most exclusive holiday playground. But it might just be the design that earns top spot: this is a brand-new construction conceived with the idea of indoor-outdoor living in mind, with every modern luxury and space for a small army.
Please note this home does not allow anymore than the house accommodates at any one time, which is a total of 12.
As you step in the front door you begin to get hints of how spectacular this property is. The quality of the construction, the hardwood floors and the high ceilings, is apparent from the get-go. On the entry level you’ll find two bedrooms – one bunk room perfect for kids and a spacious queen with en-suite – as well as a fantastic outdoor living room with a flat-screen TV, a kitchenette and a games room with a convertible pool/fusball/table tennis table.
But really it’s all about the main level upstairs. The impressive, black-framed full-length windows open up onto a gorgeous deck, with the blue of Pittwater and the green of the bush permeating the entire space. Timber furniture and tasteful neutral upholstery complement the hardwood, steel and glass of the architecture, along with the marble entertainer’s kitchen with its substantial island bench.
This level is also home to three bedrooms, a queen and a room with two king singles, which share a bathroom and separate toilet, and the spacious queen master with en-suite and water views.
Throw in the terraced courtyard area and the elevated pool (does anything beat a swim with a view?) and this house is an incredible package. The internal stairs may not be suited to guests with mobility issues, however an inclinator provides access to the property and the garage has space for 2 cars.
What the owner loves
Coomalie is not a cookie-cutter home. It is a labour of love, the name is derived from the Northern territory meaning resting place by the sea. The genius of the design is difficult to describe: somehow the house manages to face both directions, opening up onto both the view and the courtyard/pool, with MC Escher style staircases and doors allowing access from level to level. It’s unique and unforgettable – what more could you want from a luxury holiday?
What the family traveller loves
The size and intelligent layout of Coomalie make it perfect for families. The bunk room is obviously ideal for younger children (or the young at heart), and the kitchenette downstairs allows flexibility and privacy for teenagers. Multiple living areas make it possible to have movie nights and dinners at the same time, while the beautiful pool and the games room mean screen time won’t be necessary at all.
What we love
Palm Beach is the best. It’s only an hour from Sydney, but when you’re sitting on the balcony with the branches of gum trees and the endless bush filling your vision, you’ll feel a million miles away. It’s quiet, it’s private and it’s convenient – with shopping, restaurants, coffee and endless activities close by. If you love the outdoors you’ll love it here – surfing, swimming, boating, sunbathing and bushwalking are all on the menu. It’d be rude not to.
