The owner and staff were exceptional. They are very accommodating and service oriented, and they said they will improve their facilities.
We knew it was supposed to be rustic, but
Room floors had gaps, insects came in
Comfort Room had a big window with no cover, a frog, insects came in.
It was terrifying taking a bath or using the restroom wondering what would come in. There were big poo droppings stuck to the walls and on the floors, big lizards? Bats? Big rats?
There were minimal lights outside, so we did not feel safe at all.
The road inside going to the cottages was really bad. They said it was passable, no, poor car.
We went home a day early because we were not able to sleep the first night.
We informed the owner we will leave early and she offered us 1 night free stay in the future.
No, I am sorry, it was not the weekend we envisioned it to be.

I consider myself a nature lover but also take comfort as a high priority. I am not really fascinated with smelling animal dung and ants crawling in the kubo hut where we stayed
The road was not cemented, there are ants crawling in the kubo hut,no air conditioning and customer service does not really reply to messages @ booking.com promptly.

I like its concept which is close to nature. I enjoyed wandering the forest like location, the trees were eft untouched and preserved. The sound of the birds is very relaxing specially on during early morning. We also enjoyed our meal on the floating boat. We should have tried kayaking but we run out of time. For sure, will go back to Virgin river resort.

I loved how our bahay kubo had everything we could potentially need: toothbrush, toothpaste, toilet paper, toiletries, towels, slippers, and more. The staff was super accommodating and friendly. The breakfast was delicious. There are multiple activities around the resort, and we have nothing bad to say about this place at all. Even though there is no AC, the shade and the fans made for a really cool experience.
Nothing, everything was amazing!

Situated alongside the river but within the estuary so in salt water, the location is beautiful. The traditional houses are charming if pretty basic but they have everything you need. The fans kept us perfectly cool at night and no hint of a mosquito which was surprising but very pleasant. The staff were friendly and helpful doing their best to accommodate our wishes. Sheets and towels clean and white and complementary coffee and water in the room.
Breakfast is a Philippine affair so more a matter of taste than a question of quality for a European such as me. The water sports are GREAT and were the making of the place for the kids.
I like a hot shower in the morning but cold only I am afraid for that bracing start to the day! The archery and bb gun is at an extra cost. They are expanding the site so some building works currently.

It is a great location if you would like to stay in a traditional Kubo/Nipa hut just like in the past. I booked three Kubo houses and each house had two rooms inside (each could fit around 2 adults) and a small living room. it was very clean and there was Wi-Fi available.
The resort and floating restaurant was less than 5 minute walk.
1. only one Kubo had a built in toilet and some fans were a bit small. Still, if you prefer to try the real traditional way of Kubo, this is a nice place to start.
2. It is best to check-in before sunset or it would be too dark to find the place and appreciate what it has to offer.

We had a very nice welcome. We arrived super early, just wanted to drop off our bags and check-in later. While they offered us breakfast they prepared our room quickly, so we could settle after a rough sleep on a night bus.
The place still feels quite new. They are still building some staff, but the management and staff are great, quickly adapting to new needs. We wanted to hire scooters, but couldn't. Apparently it's not a thing in Bolinao (yet?). Foreign tourism is not common there (2023 Feb). The management offered us rides, throughout our stay, which was a very thoughtful compensation.
We are vegetarians, which is becoming more of an issue the Northern you travel in Luzon, but you can always find your way, if you negotiate with the staff. The resort was also very helpful on this one. I read in former reviews that someone from Europe was missing fruits form the breakfast, which they already implemented for us. We liked the more European style breakfast, even though only Asian is on the menu.
The huts are cute and cozy, but a little too close to each other for our taste, despite the large land. The "living room area" is quite open, which is lovely but be mindful what you're wearing when stepping out from the shower, not to run into a construction worker building the hut next door :)
Also, you need to walk a bit on the land itself, which is still a work in progress. It was okay for us, just mentioning, since it might be an issue for some people.
The beach you want to go to is Patar, which is 7km away. So you need to find some sort of transport. We didn't go to the closer beaches, since only accessible through other resorts and didn't look so nice.
Also, we found it a bit overpriced for what you get. In Palawan you get a beach bungalow for the same price, but we were very nicely compensated by the staff.
