A touch of hidden luxury on the C2C walk
Only stayed one night

Good location. Public areas comfortable
The dedicated bathroom to the room was across the corridor. The building is showing its age and I didn’t feel it warranted the fee for the night.

Bedrooms need a little updating.

The position and the views
For a 5 star I would expect a lift ,in the bedroom air con a fridge,a safe, and a tv that worked , we had none of these

Excellent breakfast - good portion size, catered for veggie and vegan without any fuss.
Comfy beds.
Very quiet.
Very clean.
Nothing.

Modern twist in a classical building . Beautiful ensuite bathroom with a superb shower. The lounge area within the hotel was very comfortable . Breakfast were outstanding as was all the food we consumed during our stay. They have without doubt ‘a top chef’ .
Every member of staff made us very welcome and their friendliness added to the overall experience
Nothing to not like

Wonderful location. Great staff. Great breakfast. Terrific room with great bathroom
Bedroom walls too thin. I could hear my neighbour snoring and had a poor night’s sleep because of it. Dinner expensive. Not enough staff at weekend.

Lovely place. I totally enjoyed it
Not a good choice for evening meal, not everyone likes Al a cart, so we ate elsewhere

there was nothing at all to like
the photos I seen on booking.com are not true .
I have many issues and I honestly I would struggle to give this place a 3 star rating
I had an awful experience

Quality soft furnishings although the room and separate bathroom are sadly now in the need of updating.
Did not use the restaurant would have struggled to make a choice, too much fine dining for the setting.

Very lovely room with fantastic view, very good comfortable proper double bed and spacious. Enjoyed having a bath too and well worth the extra £10 upgrading.
Supper was delicious and breakfast too. Staff so welcoming, friendly and helpful.
Atmosphere in dining room is a little bland given location and how good the food is. Maybe take the carpet out of the dining room too. These are little things though - overall we had a wonderful stay and will definitely return. Thank you.

staff were lovely- room was spotless with beautiful new bathroom- comfy bed - delicious breakfast, and evening meal.
it was expensive ( for us), we stayed there to attend a funeral so it wasn’t a holiday for us - but I have no negatives about the hotel ,staff ,location , or food all was excellent

home from home feel
could do with feather pillows at this level of luxury accommodation should be a standard. we were in the top suite but some things could have been a little luxurious.

Meals were top quality from locally sourced produce. All staff were very friendly and helpful, we were made to feel very welcome. This is a privately owned hotel and provides exceptional personal service.
we were unlucky with the weather !
9.0 / 10.0
Comfy, nice lounge area, really helpful friendly staff, we had to leave early and it was too early for breakfast so they provided breakfast trays.
bathroom was for our own use only but was across a corridor
6.0 / 10.0
Great location, decent dinner, great breakfast offering.
Very limited menu for food & drink, Bar closed before 22.00! it’s considerably overpriced for what you are getting.
6.0 / 10.0
Great rooms with a view overlooking the village green and the fells beyond. Good breakfast that used local produce.
Restaurant providing fine dining options would be better focussed serving more contemporary menu using local produce as the foundation ie local beef, lamb, rabbit, pheasant option along with vegetarian options.
9.0 / 10.0
it is such a setting
if anything it was the noisy extractor fan!
