About this apartment rental

Other things to note
IMPORTANT COVID-19 NOTES REGARDING THE HOUSE:

(1) It has its own INDEPENDENT ENTRANCE, so as a guest you won't have to interact with the main entrance of the rest of the building, or any other interior spaces of it.

(2) We supply our guests with antiseptic gels and antibacterial wet wipes. Right at the entrance of the door we have a specific area where our guests can remove their shoes and use the sleepers we offer them or their own.

(3) Our apartment is cleaned and sanitized meticulously by our staff. All supplied towels are packaged. In particular we work with one specific person, Sofia, who is cleaning the house before every check-in, taking all actions to keep all surfaces clean.

(4) Usually we're personally welcoming all our guests right outside the house, for our typical meet & greet and to have together a quick tour of the house. Due to COVID-19 situation though we have also added the self check-in option for our mutual safety!

During the current pandemic we make sure that the Acropolitan is still a safe place to visit and use as your base to explore Athens. It goes without saying that following all social distancing measures and other safety protocols, ensures that all our guests, present and future ones, remain healthy!

I really want to give this property 4 stars. The location is fantastic -- just minutes from all the sights -- and Harry and Chrisha were so friendly and quick to respond to any of my questions, and even assisted us with arranging transportation. They were responsive, attentive, and helpful. However, this place was a hot box. I thought I could deal with it after the first couple of nights, but couldn't sleep a wink the last couple nights. My husband and I had to wet some towels, put them in the fridge, and lay them on ourselves when we slept just to cool down. There are a couple fans and a dehumidifier, but neither worked well enough in this heat; it often felt hotter inside than out. Also, the bathroom is a really tight squeeze. As a larger lady, I had to do some gymnastics just to use the facilities. It was tough. But honestly, it's run by great people and the location truly cannot be beat, so if you can stand the heat and the tiny bathroom, go for it.

There’s no stove. No A/C. Bathroom dirty, place ran down, pictures very deceitful. We stayed 15 minutes then went to the travel agent down the street and she booked us in the Titania.

Great location - all major sites within easy walking distance. Restaurants & shopping are nearby. Unit was comfortable and perfect for a quick rest between sightseeing and evenings out. Neighborhood was quiet at night. Would recommend having them book taxi service..our driver to the port was great. Bathroom was a bit tight but great shower. No A/C so would not recommend stays during the hot season (fans & dehumidifier not enough to keep cool).

To start the location is amazing & just on the edge of the Plaka area! It's also awesome having your own washer & private apartment. The organization that owns it is Villa Rentals (VR) & once booked through Vrbo you pay through VR online. Since we arrived late (~9:30pm on Friday) we booked a taxi with VR instead of paying the late check-in fee of 15 euros. The problems started when our taxi driver let us into the apartment. Walking into the apartment it smelled really musty; but the real kicker was the 2 dead cockroaches that on the kitchen floor. The driver took a picture an promised to let VR know, then left; but that really leaves a terrible impression that is hard to overcome. Unfortunately for us, after the driver left a live cockroach walked across the living room before we squished it. I checked the entire apartment (because you know- paranoia) & found a 4th (dead) under the couch. I contacted VR through Vrbo & listed our concerns- they apologized & promised to have someone come tomorrow. Honestly, had we been at a staffed hotel we probably would have left; but it was late & we knew nothing about Athens- so we stayed. The next day while we were out someone came & spruced up the apartment. They took care of most of my concerns (for those curious: We had no hot water (apparently the fuse switch was off- which would have been nice for someone to tell us to turn it on or just do it in anticipation of the unit being occupied), the musty smell (they aired out the apartment & left us a dehumidifier which did wonders), shower doors were off the track (he fixed this), the toilet seat did not stay up- super annoying because it sat against your back (he told me that the only thing he could do is buy a new toilet seat that is a better size when stores opened on Monday (they never did get this resolved)), more toilet paper (we had 1 roll- they forgot to bring another so we ended up buying one), & no dust pan (didn't get this either). They did try to remedy the situation- cleaning & leaving us a bottle of wine and coffee as a gift, but once they had been there it just felt like that is what should have been like from the start & that the apartment hadn't been cleaned properly to begin with. We discussed that the cockroaches may be a fluke as they may have just sprayed; but the morning we left (a 5 day stay) we found 1 last dead cockroach. Overall, the apartment had the best shower, the worst toilet, & everything else wasn't bad- but I won't stay again.
