It is nicely appointed with many comfort features including ceiling fans and air conditioning. Beds are new, high quality and comfy. The kitchen offers a dishwasher and every cooking amenity. There is a "pay per load" laundry room downstairs just steps away . We offer 500 mbps high speed internet and FREE WIFI. Ask about our 24" monitor if you plan to work remotely. We have a Samsung smart TV. A crib and high chair are available for the little ones. You are provided with a designated parking stall and plenty of guest parking for your visitors. Please read the description of each of our condo amenities.

WHY CHOOSE OUR CONDO: We offer a unique experience to every traveler. We do our best to make sure your stay is excellent and perfect and catered specifically to your family/friends. We want you to feel welcomed the moment you walk in the front door. The condo lacks nothing a traveler would ever need while on vacation. You could literally arrive with just the clothes on your back (and a bathing suit) and find our condo well stocked for your entire stay. We provide toiletry items as well as coffee, tea and water…the essentials for survival…lol!. We have boogie boards, beach toys, snorkeling equipment, beach chairs, towels, and a beach umbrella. We have games, cards, puzzles, and fun stuff for the family. This unit wa remodeled in late 2022. We are meticulous about cleanliness-this is very important when renting a private home. We insure that our condo will be well stocked and clean and cool as we offer air conditioning and ceiling fans.

OUR AREA IN OAHU: We are located in Makaha. We are on the leeward side of the island on the Waianae coast, home to the Spinner Dolphins. We are one mile from world famous Makaha Surfing Beach and 5-10 minutes from several other popular west side beaches including Yokohama Bay and Poka’i Bay (child and baby friendly). Golfing is only one mile down the road at The Makaha Valley Country Club and Golf Course. You can swim with the turtles and snorkel nearby. There is a beach activity rental spot nearby at Hale Nalu. This is a bedroom community that is far away from it all, which makes it a great budget friendly place to stay, yet the whole island is accessible to you by car in less than 2 hours (1 hour to Waikiki). There is no right or wrong place to stay on the island. It's a matter how much you want to spend and your personal preference. Makaha is considered the country. This is down home, unpretentious Hawaii. If you like the quiet mountain backdrop, rest and relaxation, topped off with a fantastic ocean view, and uncrowded yet safely lifeguarded beaches then this is the place for you. We are located just 20 minutes north of Ko'Olina, home to Aulani the Disney Resort. The west side has changed a lot in the past 13 years since the opening of the Disney resort and is experiencing tourism more than ever. We have spectacular beaches and one of the best hikes on the island to Ka’ena Point. The Waianae Boat Harbor is nearby where you can take a day cruise to snorkel and swim with dolphins. Enjoy a family friendly day at the Ko'Olina Lagoons (Disney), eat dinner at Roy's, The Monkey Pod or any of the other great restaurants that are in the Ko'Olina resort area. Nearby is the town of Kapolei where you can enjoy excellent dining, go to the movies, shop at Target or buy organic groceries at Down to Earth - a Hawaiian organic grocery chain, not to mention the brand new west side mall – Ka Makana Ali’i. There are a couple of great Luau's, Germaine's and Paradise Cove. But do not fret, we have some great local restaurants in Makaha and super close (5-10 min.) such as Coquito’s, Hannara, The Spicy House, and The Beach House by 604 just to name a few. They are small and simple (some might call hole-in-the-wall) but boy is the food good. “Da west side is da best side” as the locals say. We agree!

OUR CONDO COMPLEX: Makaha Valley Plantation is the name of the condo complex. We are located one mile from Makaha Beach. We are a low rise 3 story complex comprising of many buildings. We are a gate guarded complex with stringent 24/7 security. The staff is super friendly and you are usually greeted with a wave or shaka. The landscaping is lush and green. There are peacocks (and peahens) that freely roam the grounds. We have two swimming pool areas each with a large pool, a kiddie pool and a hot tub. There are showers and bathrooms at each pool area. Each pool area offers a party cabana which can be reserved for a private party or celebration. There are charcoal barbecues near the cabanas and in various locations throughout the complex as well as near our unit. We have a tennis court on property. There is a basketball court very close to our unit. A few units in the complex offer an ocean view and ours is one of them. During whale season (Dec. - May) whales can be seen from our lanai with the provided binoculars. The island bus stops right in front of the guard shack (www.thebus.org) and will take you anywhere on the island. OAHU VS. THE OTHER ISLANDS: Oahu is always a good idea. Oahu offers virtually everything except volcanos! You can be in the crazy hustle and bustle of tourist busses, trolley cars, and throngs of people in Waikiki - to the quiet, mountain backdrop and local chill of the west - to the huge winter waves of the North shore - and if you like hoity toity then Kailua is the place to visit. There are plenty of garden areas, beautiful quiet-and-not-so-quiet beaches, and spectacular snorkeling. Of course, Honolulu is the capitol of Hawaii and it is located on our island of Oahu, so one may say that Oahu is the main island. Most of what the other islands offer, you can find on Oahu but everything Oahu offers can’t necessarily be found on the other islands. Oahu has no active volcano’s though. There are also no land animals on Oahu that can hurt you while hiking or otherwise. There are no snakes and rabies is unheard of. The other islands are beautiful and each has its own gift. We love Oahu because of the diversity from one side of the island to the other.

WHO AND WHY: Tell us your who and your why. Tell us who is visiting. Who are you traveling with? Is this your first time on the island or have you been to Waikiki several times and now you just want to get away. How did you come upon Makaha? The more you tell us the easier it is to make sure we are a good fit for one another, namely that you will be comfortable in our condo and in our area. We do not discriminate. We just want to make sure our place is right for you. When we get all of that info it also tells us that you had to do a bit of reading to get this far and we know that you know everything there is to know about our condo.

TL: DR; Great place for the right person looking for a remote getaway. The distance to and from Honolulu airport was something we were prepared for, as we rented a car to get around the island. Registration at the front desk was easy, and they have a good process for people arriving after business hours. Security was present, and we felt safe. For condo maintenance, there was wildlife cleanup every morning. Beware, people feed the animals, though it is prohibited. The guest policy is functional, with adequate guest and resident parking. We used the card-operated laundry and never had a conflict with missing clothes, though we were prompt with retrieving our laundry. There are multiple pools, and I witnessed staff cleaning the condo pool every morning. Household Amenities were excellent for our extended stay. They included: Beach gear, pool gear, full kitchen and appliances, television, plenty of comfortable seating, a fantastic bathroom, and nice Makaha decor. If you don't use the AC the space can be hot during the day, so close the blinds! We didn't need the AC when we did this, though we occasionally used the overhead fan. For the off-site amenities, plenty of local beaches within a 10-minute drive. The other side of the island is 1-2 hours away, depending on traffic. We planned our excursion schedule around the Hawaii commute and were better for it. I recommend reviewing the area online before arrival, as the nearest restaurants/grocery stores are a 15-30 minute drive away. Minor issues: The electrical outlets need to be more conveniently located for work/monitor access; however, we were able to make it work. Hawaii does have its share of insects, and we did observe a few in the room. The geckos promptly took care of them. See the wildlife comment above, the chickens are loud, and the cats meow. I bought earplugs. Above and Beyond: The owner listed having a monitor available for usage and procured an additional one for us when we could not access the monitor promised in the description. The owners were very prompt with answering any questions we had and were great hosts!

Can’t say enough wonderful things about Natalie and this condo.! Natalie is an excellent host with the warmest and most welcoming manner! Communication with her is a joy. As for the condo, you really only need your clothes and toothbrush. Not one detail left out. The view is beyond comprehension! Don’t hesitate to rent this condo! Just don’t take our time! 😉
