Mice infested. Evidence of it all over. 3rd bedroom was off the (empty) hot tub room. No ventilation. Stuffy and hot.
There was garbage left behind in the kitchen from who-knows-when. Broken doors. A/C was off so the place was toasty. No toilet paper in bathrooms. It was not ready for guests. I’d suggest finding another place. The location wasn’t bad for visiting the Escondido area, but there are comparable rentals nearby. We found one and stayed there. Didn’t spend one night here. Took a look around and cancelled. If they cleaned it up and prepared for guests…who knows? For now, can’t recommend.

Our vacation was just short of a nightmare. The house was not well maintained or clean. There was a mouse running around in the kitchen (in and out of the cabinets) every morning. The downstairs smelled like something died and we were afraid to leave because we were locked out of the security gate multiple times. Worst of all the grill caught fire and almost exploded. We reported all this to the property manager and VRBO and the owner failed to send anyone out. We were refunded 1/2 of our money. We feel that both Evolve, the owner, and VRBO have not dealt with this matter well. We feel we deserve more than 1/2 of our payment refunded as our vacation was ruined. We have stayed in many VRBOs and this was by far the worst. I would suggest to keep looking at other rentals.

First impression of the home upon arrival was not good. We arrived to find the house with the A/C off in the middle of a heatwave in CA. It took two days for the house “air out”, cool down and not have a smell from being closed up. Instructions advised not to open windows as bugs would come in due to holes in the screens. It would have been ideal for the A/C to be turned on prior to our arrival so the space can come down to an average level. The property was listed as three bedrooms with additional space for sleeping on living room futons. The third “bedroom” did NOT have A/C (house listed as have central A/C) and was attached to room that housed an in ground bath tub. The tub was covered, but was a hazard for my toddler, and still had a layer of water on the bottom. This tub room was not listed anywhere on the online listing and was not included in the pictures. This caused for a swamp like smell and the bedroom unusable. I had the max amount of guests allowed per the listing and with one room down, caused us to use an air mattress and double up more than anticipated for sleeping arrangements. Lastly, the cleanliness was not ideal. You can tell the house wasn’t cleaned prior to arrival, maybe months before. Carpet had numerous stains and areas of hazard on the floor for walking. Information provided for the stay was outdated: incorrect gate code, no welcome package with Wi-Fi info (like noted in the listing) and not all items available in the listing provided (trash bags).

This place is outstanding with beautiful mountain views. We took a small ride though DEER SPRINGS road in to San Marcos town a 5 minute ride. it is very scenic with horse properties, horse riding facility and organic food stores etc. The property sits on a mountain top and we are inspired by mountain views both from the deck and the living room. Children enjoyed a lot with pool table to play. We highly recommend this place for a family vacation.
