About this villa rental
SETTING:
The property is located midway between Florence and Siena, about 30min from both. It is surrounded by cypress and oak woods, olive trees, and vineyards, and it dominates a little lonely valley. We are based in one of the most wooded and well-preserved parts of the Chianti Classico area (renowned for its wines and food). The quiet atmosphere of the property allows for frequent sightings of roe-deers (even during daylight hours), istrici (a peculiar kind of porcupine introduced by the Romans, emblem of a 'Contrada' of Siena's Palio), and squirrels.
ACCOMMODATION;
You would be housed in a large country villa (Yellow House), with a fully independent access road. Its stone exterior, the shade of nearby trees and the soothing sound of chirping birds offer a natural refuge from stress and metropolitan life. The house is fully restored and equipped, and it can accommodate up to 8 guests. Please see a more detailed list of facilities in the following. We are also renting a smaller country house (Red House, unit 11198671 on VRBO). The two houses are fully independent and situated on two different levels of the hill.
GROUND FLOOR: includes living and dining room (extensible table up to 10 seats, sofa, fireplace), kitchen and and 1 of the 3 bathrooms.
The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, an oven and a microwave, a four-burner stove, a fridge, and a freezer. A washing machine is also available, hidden away in a bathroom closet.
FIRST FLOOR: 2 comfortable master bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (one with bath tub) and a third smaller bedroom with 2 bunk beds and a second television.
OUTDOORS: Courtyard with dining tables, chairs and a parasol. The garden is equipped with all necessary furniture to allow for outdoor meals as well as reading in the green. A barbecue is also available.
SWIMMING POOL: A 150m stone path, which goes through the wood leads to the 83m² pool (open from mid April to mid October). The pool is shared with guests from our other unit. However, separate blocks of parasols and sunbeds on each side offer a private relaxation space.
NEARBY FACILITIES:
The property is extremely quiet. Since the nearest country road is 1.1 km away, our closest neighbors live at a 1.5 km distance. Nonetheless, the village of S.Donato in Poggio (4 km) will provide you with most of the things you might need during your stay. There you will find a well-supplied small supermarket (also open on Sunday mornings), a pharmacy, a bank, a post office, restaurants, bars, a bakery, and other shops.
NEARBY ATTRACTIONS:
Despite the private setting, the cities of Florence and Siena are easily reachable by car with a 30 minutes ride. You can bike or drive to the numberless charming hamlets, small villages, churches, castles, and panoramic spots of Chianti nearby. In addition, some examples of what the surroundings have to offer are:
– S.Gimignano, with its well known tower-houses
– S.Appiano
– The palaces of Colle Val d'Elsa, the birthplace of Arnolfo di Cambio (the architect of Palazzo Vecchio in Florence), and the nearby Natural Park, which includes the Diborrato waterfall.
– Certaldo, where Boccaccio, the author of Decameron, lived
– The fortress of Monteriggioni
– The Etruscan city of Volterra
– Montalcino and Val d'Orcia, worldwide famous for “Brunello” wine production
– Hot-springs in Bagno Vignoni, the setting of many scenes from the film Nostalghia by film director Tarkovskij
– Pienza, a magnificent example of the Renaissance “città ideale”
– The seafront in Cecina and Maremma

A beautiful house for nature lovers , we had everything we needed for our stay. The owner was very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our time there . The road to the house was a little bit rough , it could be difficult with a small car .
Stefano Grazie per tutti!

We spent 10 days at this truly amazing quiet, peaceful place situated in a wooded area surrounded by vineyards and olive trees. Although relatively isolated, the location is close to Florence, Siena and other major attractions.Shops and restaurants can also be found nearby. The road leading down to the house is a bit bumpy but we got used to it very fast! The charming house, tastefully decorated, was just perfect for us, spacious, very clean and very well equipped. The outside seating area was a most pleasant and relaxing area to enjoy breakfast, lunch, an early evening aperitif, or dinner. A short walk down a path lies the very large, extremely well maintained pool with a view, and swimming here was a daily highlight for us! Stefano, a very gentle and gracious host, welcomed us with flowers and wine which was greatly appreciated. We would highly recommend this property and we ourselves really hope to return. Many thanks Stefano!

3 generations—beautiful comfortable home with a large pristine pool. Hikes through the grapes and olive groves. Cooked at the house in a well stocked kitchen. Played games in the dining/living room. Swam in the private and beautiful pool. I highly recommend this property. Owner is very nice

We traveled with 4 children who were 16 years old. This location is excellent in the center of Tuscany, everything perfect. Super extraordinary swimming pool, even at the end of April.

We loved our 5 night stay in the Yellow House. The property is rural and feels a million miles away but is a great location for exploring Florence, Sienna and the countryside of Tuscany.
The house is well equipped with all that you'll need. Mostly we went out to dinner but the nights we stayed in the kitchen allowed us to prepare simple meals.
The outdoor space is beautiful, it was a little too cool for us to use the pool but the pool area is wonderful. Amazing views all around you.
The bedrooms were pretty and the bathrooms clean and modern. The mattress in our room was very comfortable. The house was big enough for the five of us, though the living room is on the small side. When the weather is nice, this doesn't matter as you'll be using the outside areas more than inside.
Stefano was responsive and answered all of our questions, gave us great recommendations and provided us with wine from his vineyard.
If we return to this area, we would stay again!

Lovely place, located in one of the rare forest landscapes of Tuscany. Centrally located between Florence and Siena (about 30 minutes drive in high season) in the heart of Chianti Classico District.
There is a good equipment for cooking for a family. The two bedrooms with the king size beds are very comfortable. The room with the four beds for children is small but enough. The swimming pool was great and the children had much fun.
The owner was very polite and extremly helpful to turn good into exceptionell holiday. His recommendations for restaurants were very useful.

Stefano's place was a small piece of heaven. Tastefully decorated, it's situated 'off grid' in a lovely part of Tuscany. Surrounded by woods, olive groves and vineyards, our children loved to play in the outdoors. Stefano was accommodating and kind. We would love to go back and stay longer!

We were on a two week road trip from England with 3 adults and 4 children. The villa was our midway point and we stayed 6 nights. The house is presented just as it is in person. It is a galley kitchen but I was able to cook several meals for our family in it. The dishes are all in lounge in the cupboards, just FYI. Upon arrival Stefano, the owner, greeted us with a friendly handsake and two bottles if wine and small bottle of olive oil. We even ordered more wine and olive oil before we left. He was accommodating, friendly and flexible. We had the shower head break off and he came and fixed it within hours. The house was large enough for our group and probably would have been good for at least 3 more. The only hitch to the house was the road going to to it. It is gravel and part of it had a peak in the middle so we did drag the underneath of our van a bit. We were weighed down a great deal and did not drag once we had unloaded the van. Just take it slowly and it will be fine.
We traveled to Lucca and Pisa which was 1hr and 25 MUN away. Florence was 45 minutes away. Bologna was 1 hr 30 minutes. San Gimignano was 25 minutes away. Volpaia was 35 minutes away. Vineyards were as far as you can see in any direction! The location is central and there is plenty to do.
I highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a beautiful area to stay without being in a busy city!! Also his prices are fantastic!

We spent a week in this wonderful cottage as part of our Italian trip and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and had absolutely everything we needed. 3 comfortable bedrooms, 3 nice and clean bathrooms and a very well equipped kitchen.
The local area provided a good choice of bars & pizzerias but not within walking distance. You can enjoy the silence and picturesque area not being far from the highway to Siena, Firenze or San Gimignano.
We would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone planning to stay in this lovely part of Italy.

We spent a week in the yellow house with our 3 kids May for the second time. The location is perfect: within the forest, near Sienna and Firenze. The house has a wonderful atmosphere, 3 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms. Though the bathrooms are modern, the rest of the house is classic Italian. The only point of (minor) criticism is that kitchen, the glasses and dishes are a bit old.The property is clean and well maintained, the owner friendly and helpful, the swimming pool perfect with a wonderful view. This property combines everything that is great about Tuscany!

We had a fabulous holiday in Tuscany. The house was beautiful and clean with three full bathrooms and three bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. It is located on an olive and wine growing property with gorgeous vistas. There is also a swimming pool, although we were too late in the year to take advantage of it. Stefano, the owner was often on site and there is a full time care taker to make sure all your needs are met.
The property is located in the Chianti area and we visited the numerous surrounding small villages for sightseeing, markets and delicious meals. Would I recommend this place or come back again - you bet!!!
