About this cottage rental
Harbourway sits on West End, the curving road that runs gently downhill to Craster's double-walled quay. It's the end house of a pair, and faces south, with the charming front garden offering panoramic views down to the harbour and the North Sea. It also ensures you're a little removed from the village hustle and bustle.
Inside, Harbourway has everything you'd expect of a traditional seaside cottage. Beams and wooden effect porcelain floors run throughout, and decorative touches hint at the house's maritime heritage – a pair of oars placed over a hearth, a wicker crab pot, a porthole window peeping out onto blue northern skies. Unusually for Craster, Harbourway offers plenty of parking – there's space for upto four cars.
On one side of the house is the spacious living room, a cosy space for relaxing, with deep sofas to sink into, and a wood burner recessed into the handsome inglenook fireplace. On the other side is the dining room, with another impressive granite fireplace with electric wood burning stove providing the focal point. Both have big bay windows with window seats to make the most of the views.
From here, arched French doors open out onto the sun-room, a light-filled space filled with additional seating, and warmed by underfloor heating. Another set of sliding doors leads out onto the front patio - perfect for sunny summer breakfasts.
The kitchen is at the back of the house, open-plan in design and cottagey in feel. It's fully equipped with an integrated dishwasher, electric range cooker, american fridge freezer, washer/dryer and a wine fridge. A small passageway leads past the stairs to a cosy bedroom with en-suite shower room, the first of four, tucked away into the northeast corner of the cottage and very private. The bed in this room can be made up as either a super-king or twin beds.
There are three more bedrooms upstairs: two further en-suite shower rooms, with another twin sandwiched between, and a modern family bathroom at the top of the stairs. The cottagey feel continues up here: pine doors, solid wooden beams and the super comfy beds are dressed with Melin Tregwynt woollen blankets.
Harbourway is also dog-friendly - you're welcome to bring along a well-behaved canine companion, as long as it's at least a year old.
If you fancy exploring Craster, just downhill from the cottage you'll find the legendary local fishmonger L. Robson and Sons, famous for their smoked kippers, and the Jolly Fisherman Inn, a friendly local hangout and a fine spot for an evening pint.

Wonderful location overlooking the harbour but extremely private and quiet. The house is beautifully furnished, extremely comfortable and was spotlessly clean. The kitchen is the best we’ve ever seen and everything you may need has been thoughtfully provided, even treats and toys for our 2 little dogs. Absolutely wonderful beaches nearby and loads of interesting places to visit. Our favourites were Cragside and Lindisfarne. The local pub, The Jolly Fisherman, may seem expensive but the food is really good. I’d go in the evening when it’s less busy. The wood fired pizzas at Embers up the road are also well worth trying. The walk to Dunstanburgh castle has to be one of the best in the country. Northumberland is a brilliant place to visit and you’d be hard pushed to find better, more luxurious accommodation than Harbourway.

Had a lovely stay with friends. House is beautiful and very well located with views of the harbour. So nice to have super king beds in all rooms and they were really comfortable.
We appreciated the parking spaces for cars which was very generous, especially as we both had 4x4s.
This is our second visit to Craster having stayed at Middlerig previously. Both properties are lovely but this is now our favourite!
The walks from Craster are great in both directions and it is so easy to visit Bamburgh, Alnwick and a bit further away Cragside, plus trips to the Farne Islands.
Can recommend The Jolly Fisherman in Craster for great food, and just a short stroll home!!
Thanks to all at Catch the Breeze for another wonderful stay.

Harbour Way was not our first choice for our holiday accommodation but was accepted because a dog was permitted. The house has character and has been sympathetically modernised and fitted out to the very high standards that is the signature of Catch the Breeze’s portfolio of holiday accommodation. Tara and Beth are brilliant at ensuring everything is attended to prior to arrival ensuring that you are made to feel welcome as a valued guest.

Beautiful property in a fantastic location, suitable for a family stay with grandparents. The Dog goody bag was an unexpected, lovely touch. There's is so much to do and see in the area and so many lovely walks too.

Superb property in a fantastic position in Craster. Very well equipped, super comfy, sunroom a lovely place to sit and relax. Patio overlooking the harbour and sea beyond a great place for breakfast and coffee on a sunny morning. Will definitely look to book again with Catch the Breeze if/when we return to Craster

We had a great stay at Harbourway, just a stone throw away from Craster harbour and the coastal path to Dunstanborough. A really well equipped and comfortable cottage; will definitely return for another stay.

Stunning property in a stunning location; what more is there to say? Beautifully laid out and extremely well equipped cottage all to an exceptional standard. Great to sit out on the front just watching the view and the world go by. Been to Northumberland many times, this was by far the best!

Thank you once again Catch the Breeze for a fantastic week on the Northumbrian coast. Harbourway is a great rental - the layout is so well designed and the spaces cleverly thought out. My only observation would be that the third bedroom upstairs is tight as a double and might be better suited to kids rather than 2 adults but everything else was excellent - its kitted out so well with their usual flair and all my guests staying with me commented on what an incredibly nice house it is! With parking for 4 cars it makes it easy for 8 adults if they have all come from separate directions and the kitchen is spacious enough for people to cook and chat at the same time! Lovely outside space with a view of the harbour and then a snug wood burner for those chillier evenings. In fact the air source pump and under floor heating almost work too well and returning to the house after a day's walking the coast it would be almost too hot inside! I would thoroughly recommend this house and company - there were some lovely touches - the food welcome pack, having a wine fridge, the doggie goody bag, 5* appliances in the kitchen.

Harbourway is definitely the best holiday house we have stayed in and we are regular visitors to Northumberland. Everything was so clean and comfortable. Craster is a great base to explore different locations. We had a great walk to the castle and onto Embleton. We will definitely be back

I hired Harbourway as the base for my photography shoot on the Northumberland coast. The house was great in terms of comfort and facilities and only a very short walk to a great pub! Wills be great for a holiday too! Craster is a lovely little fishing village and home to the amazing Coaster smokehouse...the kippers and smoked salmon are a must buy!

The property was immaculate, access was simple, customer service excellent. Welcome milk and essentials in the kitchen.
All pre-decorated for Christmas, including a Christmas present for the dog which had treats and a 'doggy' towel.
The house was very warm, possibly a little too warm but this can be adjusted remotely with a phone call to the office.
Very comfortable and very well appointed, great views of the harbour. The bathrooms although very well appointed are small. Beds very comfortable. We booked Christmas week which was quite expensive but we had an amazing stay. Phone coverage in the village is very poor (tescos & O2) Wi-Fi in the house very good. if you are planning a trip, I found inputting the details in to Google maps using the WIFI before leaving the house was more effective. Some areas locally were difficult to get signal to do this just using the phone.

A well appointed property in an excellent location, with coastal walks from the door and a very nice pub serving good food within a couple of hundred yards.
A larger cafetiere or perhaps a second one would be useful but other than that we had all that we needed for a lovely autumn break.
Apart from the coast, visits to Alnwick and Morpeth were much enjoyed.

We had the most amazing week here ,great attention to detail in the house with everything you need in place , top quality everything !
Note separate bathroom for small, upstairs twin does not have a walk in shower just a bath , a fab bath but not suitable for elderly relatives.
The view from the garden & outside table was amazing . We were very lucky with the weather so spent a lot of time enjoying the house & location , Robsons smokehouse provided fab food as did a fishing trip with Doug & his grandson Reece , catching lots of mackerel & cod , so tasty , & buying amazing lobsters from them . The local pub is in amazing location but over priced & not the food we expected from previous reviews , great staff but not such great food & the chips from the van outside were sooooooo expensive . None of this could detract from the most amazing stay in the best location in Craster & a truly amazing holiday stay .

We stayed at Harbourway this year so we could take our dog away with us which was a real bonus. We usually stay in Middlerigg. Lovely house, well equipped and presented with lots of outdoor space and a safe garden front and back for our dog. The downstairs bedroom felt a little small for the two adults that stayed in there. The upstairs middle bedroom felt very small. We had two children in there and it was very tight for them and they felt it was too small for them which caused frustration. Sadly, the kitchen also felt small and difficult to get around when there were a few people in it, which might be frustrating when travelling with a few other adults. Location is perfect, close to the sea and the pub with plenty of parking for two large cars. We really enjoyed our stay but I think the size of the middle upstairs room makes it difficult for anyone other than small children to stay in there.

This cottage is just amazing, from the initial view walking up the immaculate garden and path, to an absolutely stunning cottage inside, you will not have a nicer holiday stay. The cottage has been fitted out to an exceptionally high standard and the layout was just fantastic for our holiday, breakfast on the patio, dinner in the dining room, drinks before dinner in the kitchen and to relax in the living room in the sumptuous sofa's. the attention to detail is second to none. the view from the harbour, while having breakfast outside was our most memorable moments for sure. The beds are so comfortable and bedrooms well laid out and suited our families requirements perfectly with the en-suite bathrooms. I cannot praise how nice this property is and how much of a nice time you will have at this cottage. this is one of the nicest, well appointed cottages we have stopped in. The other favourite thing of ours were the two window seats, perfect for watching the sea and the weather come in and to drink a nice mug of tea, while reading or snoozing! perfect! This a a perfect place to stay to explore Northumberland, I can recommend the Craster kipper sandwiches at the Craster car park just up the road, especially the bacon one with Haggis in, called the Auchter Muchty. Food at the local pub is to die for, (just remember to book well in advance to get a table), recommend the fish platter, but all the food is nice especially the Sunday dinner, as well as the Craster kippers from the smokery on the Harbour side. This is our second time visiting Craster and we will definitely book again for next year. If "Carlsberg" made holiday cottages, this would be it.

Fabulous comfortable cottage . Convenient for Craster and walks . Lovely towels and beds and nice sitting out when weather suitable with views of the harbour .

A very comfortable house very nicely furnished with everything you would need. My only problem was that it was not clear to me that it was unsuitable for disabled people. I had checked there was a ground floor bedroom and bathroom but my husband had a great deal of difficulty with the steps up to the house. Probably my fault for not double checking.
