About this house rental
Hjelleskate Herrgård is an idyllic and historic Manor, situated with a beautiful view over the Väner lake. Vänern is the 3rd largest lake in Europe, and has a lot to offer its visitors, such as a large archipelago (10.000 islands), beautiful flora, a rich birdlife, sailing and fishing. This part of Värmland, called "Värmlandsnäs", is well known for its interesting cultural history with many archaeological funds and 5 medieval churches.
The 18th century villa next to the Manor contains three bedrooms with double beds and two smaller single rooms. There are two bathrooms. One bathroom has also a sauna with a shower. The kitchen is well-equipped with a dishwasher and kitchen appliances. A washing room with a tumble dry machine is also available.

We stayed in the Flygel, the 18th century wooden wing separate from the historic manor house. It was spacious for our group of eight with plenty of private space behind the house as well, with beautiful views of the bay through a canopy of trees. The house is tastefully furnished and the kitchen is exceedingly well equipped, in a quality that you would expect from your own home. Our hosts, Ingrid and her husband, were very hospitable and helpful in every situation. They arranged for us to visit the historic churches on the peninsula. The house, which is close to a working farm, has its own bay with excellent bathing spots (smooth black stone that warms up nicely) but no sand - we used the rowing boat provided as well as our own kayaks. In short: We had a fantastic stay, a really relaxing get-away from city life - and may come again some day!

We had booked the main building for one week. It is a beautiful very large building in a nice setting. However the building is in need of renovation, especially the bathrooms. Unfortunately we encountered quite a number of mice in the kitchen, hallway and one bedroom and decided to leave early due to that.
There was another family at the same time in the side building who seemed to be happy with that. If you are contemplating renting, the side building might actually be the better choice.

We stayed in the Flygel in the summer of 2013 (I was unable to fill in the correct dates as my review comes a bit late) and I can seriously recommend it. The peninsula is a great place to explore: extremely quiet, many nice bays and beaches. We did a lot of cycling here which is absolutely recommendable. The harbour at the tip has a small restaurant which is fine for a quick meal. The Flygel house is big enough for the six we were with and it lies in a wonderful quiet, green area, next to the historic big manor house. Clean, nicely decorated - recommendable.

We had a fantastic time at the historic manor! The house is even nicer then described in the ad, the owners very nice and caring. The rooms are big and with a lot of historic charm! Everything is very well kept. Our 3 boys loved the place and on the last day we just saw 4 elks and some deer in front of the house - an amazing experience. We definitely can recommend this place to any traveller!

A beautiful house with lots of history which is almost sensible, offering great sunset views over the Vaettern lake. This is a great place to relax and live in harmony with nature. We saw a moose crossing the lake swimming.
The house is an excellent location to take friends with you as it is large, although it feels cosy. The area is nice and calm. Don't expect a lot of things happening in the neighbourhood.
Al in all a great place that we enjoyed a lot.
