Build a beautiful resort village on a favorite Hatteras Island location, and they will come. The Cottages at the Cape are the closest vacation rentals to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton. They share a long border with the national park and are literally steps from the beachfront. Bring the bikes because Buxton's unique shops, restaurants, and lighthouse are all very close. Forget the 4WD vehicle - those in the know have discovered that the three jetties to the east of the cottages produce some of the best fishing, surfing, and swimming on this island. Walking to the south will take you to open beaches, the famed Cape Point, and, if luck is on your side during the summer, a few sea turtle nests - be careful to stay outside the barriers.
This is an excellent, completely renovated townhouse with brand-new paint, furnishings, floor, and appliances. The interior has been professionally decorated with comfortable and fun beach décor. You'll have access to an outdoor shower and a patio, and there are plenty of appliances, counter space, and cabinet storage in the full kitchen. The living room is a great place to enjoy a movie night with friends and family after a fun day on the beach. The central air-conditioning will keep the home nice and cool on those hot summer days, and the free WiFi will make it easy to research a new beach adventure. An escape to the cape never looked as good as Cottages at the Cape.

Our family of 8 (complete with 3 small kids) had a perfect getaway this weekend! The house was the perfect size and layout to accommodate all of us. Everything was spotless and clean and the decor was so beachy! There are 2 sets of stairs so if you’re coming with small kids I’d recommend brining gates. We were pretty bummed to find out the beach access directly behind the house was closed and this wasn’t disclosed prior to booking. However we found another spot a few blocks down. The kitchen was pretty bare with just a few pots and pans and no salt/pepper, coffee filters, etc. so stock up on simple necessities before arriving. Overall we had a great trip and would definitely stay here again when the beach is back open!

We loved everything about our trip the only thing we did not like was the pool was closed we went the last 3 years the same time the pool was open.

The place is very nice and I’m picky. Very nice and clean. Also awesome that we could bring our pets. Close to ocean access and nice view. Only problem was we had no idea there were thorns in the grass granddaughter walked out barefoot It was an ordeal. The dogs also. Air conditioning got fixed downstairs while we were there. The window unit kept it cool enough before he came. I would recommend this house. Just wear shoes. Lol and watch where you walk your dog.

Loved the views and location. The place was clean and furniture new. However, the a/c went out on the first floor and the only solution was one window air conditioner. When we called the first time, a window unit was delivered promptly. However, the floor remained hot (in the 80s). We called for two days to receive a second unit. No one showed. We were so hot on that floor (thank goodness the upstairs a/c was cold- bedrooms). Kitchen needs more utensils and towels. Only one sponge and one dish towel were provided. We bought another at the local dollar store. Kitchen pretty bare. Recommend bringing extra bath towels too. Also, it’s NC, so there was a friend in the lower kitchen cupboard right of the sink. We saw one twice. Probably need to spray again. Overall, would stay again.

We had a great time at this home. Everything was recently remodeled so it was very clean. The location was great and a very quick walk to reach the beach. A few down falls. The cookware is old and not enough. Everything stuck to the pans. The toaster broke and they came out the next day with a new one so that was great. I loved that you could text and get immediate response: the ac wasn’t working. It stayed at 75 the whole time. I did message for help and they had me do some reset steps but that didn’t work. Other than that we loved the house and the view. Make sure to wear shoes as the steps have poky spots!

Excellent location and house that missed the mark in execution.
Screen door missing, porch screens torn, window screens missing, windows left open upon arrival, pieces of trash found throughout property, sparse kitchenware…
We don’t spend much time inside but when we do, we want to know what we are paying for is worth it and this was not.
