Stayed here with my partner, her mother and nephew, and some friends and their children. 8 of us total. We were able to all sleep comfortably, but it was a bit crowded at times.
Beautiful place, small private pond on the property is good for kayaking and c&r fishing, but not swimmable, which the kids were disappointed to learn. Spent one clear evening stargazing on the dock - saw more stars than I had in my whole life.
The younger kids loved the zipline, and we had evening fires in the firepit (after 7pm - firewood sold separately). Everything we needed was there; dishes, condiments, spare blankets, coffee. The owners sent a guide for the coffee machine, which helped. Once we had figured it out, we used it almost constantly.
The morning of checkout was a little strange. The owners booted our friends streaming accounts off of their TV almost first thing in the morning, which made keeping the younger kids busy while we were packing up was difficult. They also cut the wifi about an hour before we left. When I sent the host a text message asking about it, I was left on read. I half expected the power to shut-off at 11. Maybe they've had some guests overstay in the past, but I've never felt shoo'd out of a short-term cottage rental before.

A beautiful, comfortable house close to hiking trails, grocery store, shops, and restaurants. The kayaks were perfect for exploring the pond. Spent lots of time on the screened in porch.

We stayed at this property to attend a family reunion in the area so it provided a place for us to stay with our adult children and grandchildren.
The cottage was very clean and provided the basics to enable us to prepare meals. The location is convenient along Hwy 118 and close to the town of Haliburton, but because it's in a heavily forested area, there are a lot of mosquitos. There can also be significant noise from the highway depending on traffic. There is a dock but the water isn't really suited for swimming, which was ok for us as we were at a family member's cottage for water activities.
3 separate sleeping areas, two full baths and a screen room that we enjoyed in the evenings after the little ones were tucked in (my 4 year old grandson enjoyed the trundle bed in the loft).
The hosts were very responsive and helpful when we had questions.

My two friends and I enjoyed our stay at Maria’s cottage. It was spacious, modern, clean and best of all very quiet and peaceful. It’s conveniently located off a main road, but offered lots of privacy as there were no nearby neighbours and it was nicely tucked in the woods with steps to the dock on a small lake which shares with no other cottages.
I especially enjoyed spending mornings on the dock meditating and doing yoga as the sun rises over the lake.
The kayaks were fun to paddle around the lake and through the swap, and the treehouse with the mini zip line was cool though we barely used it (I’m sure this would be really fun for kids).
Nearby towns, shops and restaurants and beaches were only about a 15 to 20 minute drive away.
Maria has been an excellent host. Very helpful, attentive, and answers my questions quickly. Check-in and check-out was very easy, and we had no problems or issues during our stay.
I highly recommend this cottage for your next getaway!
