Prima verblijf, maar kan veel beter

De locatie is prachtig. Het zwembad is ook ontzettend mooi. Wij hadden een villa, het was heel ruim maar wel erg verouderd.

Je zit op een eiland dus bent afhankelijk van de boten van het resort die heen en weer gaan. Dit zijn er erg weinig en de laatste gaat vanaf het vaste land naar het resort om 21.30, niet leuk als je uit eten wil gaan en heel vroeg terug moet. Het eten is het restaurant is niet erg lekker dus zeker aan te raden om op het vaste land te gaan eten. Ook het eten en drinken zijn buiten proportie duur. Voor een flesje water betaal je 50.000, en het is ten strengste verboden om zelf eten of drinken mee te nemen. Het verblijf was verder aangenaam, maar ik zou het niet opnieuw boeken.

It’s ok but not really my taste

What I like most here is the enthusiasm of most of the staff, the poetic and romantic setting, the garden that is carefully cared for and extremely beautiful, like a miniature tropical forest.

But there are a few girls working in the restaurant department who are not really enthusiastic when we need help. Even though the rooms are warmly designed in a classic style, they still lack sleeping pillows and need to be supplemented , need to add 1-2 other pillows to create a comfortable platform for customers, especially pregnant people, the elderly, people with insomnia... The beach is not very smooth and clean, neither is the swimming pool. The restaurant seems old and run down. At night there is no any type of entertainment here so we all need to go back to mainland for food & some activities.

Quiet island life but not 5 star service

It was so quiet when we went that we had the pool and the beach to ourselves. The room was beautiful although it was a walk up and down hill to get to all the guest spaces. The property and ground were well kept.

Lack of food options. You are trapped to eat in one restaurant. Lack of communication on how to reach the island and confirming the booking etc but it was a smooth arrival and we arrived before checking and could use the facilities. We had a bad experience booking an activity through the hotel - it was expensive (around £45 for 15 minutes) but we had two kids so £90 and they both only got 5 minutes each. Luckily I had recorded the experience on my phone so I could show them it wasn’t what we’d paid for but they was met with an angry tone. I managed to negotiate another 5 minutes each but I can’t help feeling we got ripped off!

A lovely island for relaxation and rest on a busy trip across Vietnam

It was a lovely resort to stay on - peaceful And quiet with lots of time to relax. The staff were helpful - all of them - especially Nhu Quynh - she helped me get something I forgot in Hoi An - all no problem. 5 star service

Lovely bungalow, great views, pool and beach excellent and food was good We enjoyed our stay.

Information on how to get there was not up to date on the website when we looked. Not very much info given on arrival about amenities, etc, would have been nice have a lounge area with bar for evenings. Also need more cushions for sunbeds, seemed to be only 5.

The pros outweigh the cons. Really relaxing couple of days.

The location is beautiful. Great to get away from the noise and busy cities after a month in Vietnam. The rooms are beautiful, great views. Generally clean water and beaches. Seperate beach for resort guests and day trippers. Friendly, helpful staff. Resort was not busy at all. Maybe 4/5 rooms occupied. Had the whole beach/pools to ourselves at times. Accommodated for a more vegetarian diet. Very cheap all things considering, bar the food, given the quality. They offer free ferries to and from the mainland. There is so much potential, but I think they are struggling to stay afloat after Covid. The reality I guess of a place that hasn’t been plastered over social media.

No communication before arrival. The ferry meeting point had changed, we had to pay for taxi to relocate. There where maybe 4/5 rooms staying in the whole resort. Nothing particularly special offered considering how quite it is. If there was a high occupancy I think it would feel incredibly crowded and food service would be very slow. Food was very bad, considering there where no other real options. Unfortunately the worst food we had in Vietnam. It seemed like vegetarian was an alien concept, although it was accommodated. Would be nice to have the mud pool included in price of stay. It’s very overcrowded, it interrupted how relaxing the rest of the time had been! We didn’t do the activities but they are at a cost and very short duration. Doesn’t seem there was a discount for those staying on the resort?

Beautiful small island with very little to do.

1. Boats only come every two hours or so back and fourth to Nha Trang. Last boat back to the island is 10pm. This makes it very hard to enjoy your time in Nha Trang. This is a huge factor as the island does not offer anything to do at night. 2. Lack of facilities, most facilities permanently closed excluding restaurant which is overpriced. 3. Customer service. Staff are unhelpful and don’t understand much English. 3. Water sports are over priced and only offer short amounts of time such as 15 minutes per activity.

Brilliant remote place with the most amazing view of hte bay

This was such an amazing bunglaow with the best view. We had a few days here were we just relaxed and did lots of swimming. Half of the resort is closed due to pandemic and its a bit sad to see that its not at its usual full capacity.. BUT we absolutely loved having the privacy. The staff were super friendly, the food was nice, and abslolutely loved the swimming pool. Nice to have it all to ourselves for most of the time!

We didn't know when we booked that this was basically a resort island which not much else to do other than beachcombing, swimming and mud bath. But this was exactly what we wanted for a few days of chill, from doing so much travelling. Not really a negative really!!

the beach is clean. The environment is fresh with a lot of trees. Pool is clean and safe, appropriate with children. Good choice for family to spend time together.

Very disappointed and cheating staff

Images and functionality doesn't compare. Everything seems nice, but nothing is working. Cold and slow showers, no poolbar, waiting 10 hours to get something fixed and must call three times and go to the reception before they woke up and did something about it. Coworker tried to cheat more money from us for a taxi, when they are the ones who should help us. We saw a dead fish in the tank, which they took to the kitchen and probably used because they only took that one for dinner. Pizza was a deepfreeze and food generally so bad that we got sick from it. We're really sorry that we choose this place and we do not think that it lives up to a 5 star hotel. Though it is great for taking influencer pictures.

Less accessible - To get to the ‘mainland’ where there are restos and bars u need to take a boat, that comes and go every 2h. Also the hotel just recently opened after covid, seem to need a bit of maintenance for some of the furniture etc

Go to Thailand instead!

It's a naturally nice island. Nature and the beach is lovely but do not expect any luxury what so ever!

I am a frequent traveller to hotels and resorts all over the world - Hon Tam/Merperle Resort is by no means a five star resort. I would say a three star is more appropriate. Everything is run down, and the resort feels like "post Apocalypse" . The rooms are like a dodgy motel and the staff is the most unfriendly group of employees in Vietnam. Lifeguards will close the beach at 18.00 - on a resort, despite not being on duty during the day anyway. Food is super expensive and the selection is not that big. Four persons pay 100 USD for a meal, which is more than what most hotels cost in Vietnam. There is nowhere to buy water or snacks, apart from the one restaurant. If you buy their buffet, you are not allowed to sit at the same table as your family - "cause you can share food". Try to borrow broken plastic kayaks! The life guard will call security if you paddle more than 30 meters away along the beach. Birds are flying around inside the restaurant eating of everything and two of us got sick and vomited. The response from their staff was that we must have been outside the resort, since nobody got sick. This is impossible since the there only is one choice of food on the island... The called us liars and didn't even appologise for the inconvenience. Now we are tucked under a dunar in real five star hotell in Nha Trang at our own expense waiting for the vomiting to stop.

Disappointing

Due to the resort's cancellation, I understand that the new card on Booking.com must be updated to ensure my reservation is still valid. However, I was asked to pay cash because the visa card holder was not staying with me and they would return the money in the card at the same time I paid. Till now after 30 days and tried to contact the resort multiple times but the staff still not support and reply about my amount. They kept asking me to contact my bank and booking.com about the amount but it was they who charged us. I thought I would leave good feedback during my stay there. Sadly, this is the first time I have had to write disappointing feedback about their process.

THE BEACH! It was amazing and ofc Albina made my stay there so fun. Great thanks to her!

I arrived at 12:15 from a flight and usually, that's not a big problem to check in cause I can't control flight times but they made me wait until 14:00 in scorching hot even if I'm sure that my room was empty. Then, as soon as I entered the room the pool was dirty. I needed to ask them to clean it which is not proper for a 5star resort. They cleaned it but I haven't used the pool cause the impression wasn't good. Also, OMG food in the restaurant was SO BAD they really need to do something about that. There is no room service for breakfast, which is disappointing cause I want to have a peaceful morning in my room if I choose a resort to stay at. Overall my stay was good but I can't say that this resort is 5-star.
