In the heart of the quintessential hilltop ‘pueblo blanco’ of Vejer de la Frontera on one of the charming cobbled streets that wind their way through the town’s dazzling white facades, ancient buildings and atmospheric squares, this beautifully restored town house offers stylish living within elegant, innovatively designed accommodation that is just a short stroll from the shops, restaurants and bustling street life of one of the Costa de la Luz’s most picturesque and historic centres.
As is so typical of Andaluz town houses with Moorish origins, the traditional whitewashed façade of Casa Luz gives little clue as to what lies behind and as we stepped through the front door we could not fail to be impressed by the chic interior in which we found ourselves.
In a style that calls to mind the atmospheric homes of nearby Morocco, the open-plan living area exudes a welcoming ambience of comfort and warmth. Colourful cushions are stylishly scattered across in-built seating and ornate furnishings sit atop warm rugs against a backdrop of smooth colour washed walls, graceful archways and marble floors. To the side a state-of-the-art kitchen is housed behind sleek units of the most modern design.
In the centre an ornate plunge pool sits within an inner courtyard, ingeniously incorporated into the living area by the arched glass-filled patio doors that line its sides. Light floods through here and also through the window that is creatively positioned above the spiral glass staircase that leads the way to the stylish bedrooms and contemporary bathrooms that occupy the first floor.
Being situated just below the highest and oldest area of the town, the property’s spacious and beautifully furnished roof terrace gives the most stunning bird’s eye view across the terracotta rooftops and uniformly dazzling white facades of this beautifully preserved town. Equipped with cushioned seating, a barbecue and dining area and displaying the same design flair as the interior, this is a special location and one which is sure to become a favourite spot.
It is however Casa Luz’s enviable position, within such close proximity of Vejer’s wealth of amenities, which make it such an ideal holiday home. Step out of the front door, stroll along the cobbled streets and you will discover some of the finest dining options available in the region. Not long ago highlighted in The Sunday Times as being one of the 'tastiest' towns in Spain, its delightful labyrinth of narrow streets and ornate ‘plazas’ are home to a superb range of restaurants. Shops, bars and a colourful weekly market are also within easy reach, whilst the stunning sandy beach of El Palmar is just a 10 minute drive away.
Because of the open tread spiral staircase which connects the ground floor to both the first floor and roof terrace this house is not suitable for children under the age of 8. Property Licence Number: CTC/2017117927
