About this apartment rental
Beautiful apartment inside Palazzo Napoli-Cavarretta, an historic noble building dating back to the 18th century in the heart of Palermo.
The particularity of this house lies in some original furnishings and objects, such as the cathedral windows in the living room, one of the headboards and some chairs. From the entrance, a hallway allows you to access to the first two bedrooms, one of which is furnished with two single beds and next to which there is a bathroom with shower stall and vintage Old England style wallpaper. The second bedroom has a queen size bed, vintage headboard and closet, and comes with a shower. Both rooms overlook Via Bandiera, a pedestrian street.
Next comes the kitchen, where you will find a wardrobe, a built-in kitchen and a washing machine and from which you have access to the terrace.
Next is the aristocratic hall, embellished with frescoed ceilings and large antique cathedral windows and furnished with two white sofas, an antique glass table in the center, a glass dining table, vintage chandeliers and TV. At the end of the living room there is the third bedroom, with a queen size bed, two antique built-in wardrobes, access to the terrace and frescoed ceilings. In the whole house you will find both vintage and modern items, perfectly combined.
The terrace, enriched with majolica tiles and an old fountain, is large and perfectly equipped for your relaxation.
You enter the building from Via Maqueda (there is a porter), a pedestrian street located in the heart of Palermo.
* The house is not equipped with central heating, but with a single heat pump that heats the small room.

Palermo, one of the most beautiful cities of art in the country and the capital of Sicily, offers plenty of wonderful UNESCO heritage sites that can be visited in the four historic districts of the city. In this regard, tourists can take part in the "Baroque itinerary of Palermo' to visit the main monuments of the city, such as the Church of the Holy Savior, the Church of Santa Maria del Monte Oliveto and the Church of the Conception. The city also offers the opportunity to participate in the "Tour of the Historical Markets of Palermo' which will allow guests to explore the markets of Ballarò and Capo. It doesn’t matter if it’s lunch or snack time, it is strictly required to taste the dishes with your hands only! This tour will also give tourists the opportunity to admire prominent buildings, streets and squares.
The central train station is at just 1 km away and here are many connections from/to the airport and to locations as Mondello and Monreale.

This property is in the middle of everything, so the advantages are you can walk everywhere. The disadvantage is that it can be noisy at night.

We were all looking forward (5 people) in staying in a historical place as the pictures were magnificant! It turned into a nightmare for the first 2 days. When we arrived, we were greeted by a person who was useless, in a hurry and gave very little info of the place. The issues were:
1. We were provided with 1 set of keys at the beginning and if one couple took the keys, the lights went off and the other couple could not go out.
2. Kitchen was a nightmare! There were no dishes, cutlery (only forks available), pots, kettle or a coffee machine. No paper towels, dish cloths or pods for washing machine. We had to buy plastic dishes, cutlery, etc.
3. The courtyard was unswept and dirty.
4. The plumbing in the bathroom could use updating.
5. One set of towels for 5 days was not enough. Had to buy toilet paper as only 2 rolls provided.
We called the company to complain about the missing items and they kept saying that it is in the cupboard. We called VRBO (which we will never use) to complain and talked to 3 people and were cut off and no solution provided!
Finally on the 2nd day, someone came about our complaints. Provided another set of keys. Apparently, there was a locked cupboard in the hallway with dishes and other items which we did not know about. He went out & bought kettle & missing items.
On the positive side, the place was very central located in a historical district with lots to see and do. Lots of restsurants on this walking street!

I wanted to like this place. It could have been a perfect home for repeat visits to Palermo. However, the featured photos show a much more refined home and the beauty of the historic details was overshadowed by the overall experience of our stay. The house and bed linens were clean and the local agent was available and very responsive to our questions.
Most of the issues we had were comfort issues: There is no bathroom in or near primary bedroom; showers are smaller than a confessional; back bedrooms are noisy; double twin bedroom was small; no bedrooms have dressers or adequate storage for clothing; and power went out frequently. Overall, the place could use updating.
Many of the issues could be resolved with better property management. Kitchen supplies were lacking: two single serve coffee makers left no easy way to make morning coffee; there were no sponges, cleaning rags, or paper towels; there was no dishwashing liquid; and there were no trash bags or trash receptacles (despite clear instructions on how to separate and dispose of trash). If you decide to keep a car, parking is not easy. The house is within the historic district (ZTL zone). The parking lot suggested by management is a private lot and they were not able to recommend others (since the management company is not local).
