Great value and good location. Very pleasant and helpful team. Really enjoyed my stay.

Good location - very convenient for a quick overnight stay. Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely temperature in room with this cold weather.
Older building, so do hear the creaks and fan in others bathroom. Soft bed, but manageable.
Overall, good value for money...didn't try breakfast as leaving early, but looked very nice set up.

The hotel is feeling its age but the check-in was not very friendly. It is very loud at night both from traffic and other residents. The toilet was dirty and leaking. Not a very pleasant experience.

Dinner order wrong.
Breakfast greasy and cold
Sausages like cardboard

Where do I start? The rooms are so dated. The photos on this site do not show a true representation on what you actually get for your money. I found popcorn under my sheet in a supposedly clean freshly made bed. The towel should have been thrown years ago as it was thread bare. The noises that came from walking from the bedroom to the bathroom as the flooring creaked. I think every floorboard was warped.
Dinner time was not a pleasurable experience either. Hardly anything on the menu was available. The guy behind the bar just laughed as he thought it was funny.
I should have walked from the minute I set foot in the room.
I hate leaving bad reviews. But this deserves one.

Everything seems like it’s falling apart in this place. I had no hot water during my stay so couldn’t shower and the heater was broken. It has been very cold and I was freezing each night. I told reception about the issues at check out but the general manager was so rubbish and unhelpful. She’s about as dated as the property. Honestly the place is managed terribly. Makes an ibis look like luxury.

Lovely hotel, set like a castle next to a big park. Friendly staff, excellent breakfast. 10-15 minute bus journey into the city centre, regular buses. Nice area. Downside is the car park entrance next to the traffic lights on a major junction, not easy to either get in or get out.

We had a very small dog that lived in a small crate £20 per night is a bit high thats what i pay for someone to look after her when abroad. The pillows where rock hard foam very uncomfortable. The window latches were broken, the hot tap was loose general maintenance in the room was average at best.
It was a convenient location for what we wanted but taking in the cost of parking and the dog and the beding i thought over priced.
The staff were very good and did there best.

Last time I stayed here was 4 years ago and it wasn't very good was being used as a refuge hotel and had security on the door but looking at the reviews it's changed hands and had a makeover so here's my review!
Big carpark and it's free to use
Slow check in was two people on but one was doing it all
All information given.
No lift only stairs to the floors.
Room was a good size as was the bathroom.
As I entered the room I did see a slim trail on the floor and bed
I moved the bed but didn't find anything, except the old TV remote!!
Bed was comfortable
Wifi excellent
Shower hot and powerful
Breakfast not included but could add if wanted
Evening meal was ok
Simple menu reasonably priced there's a few restaurants close by
Location is next to a busy junction on the outskirts of the city .
Would stay again if nothing else close by!

Very clean room and bathroom, easy check in and check out procedures. Easily walkable to central Bristol, but also very convenient bus connections nearby too.

Perfect for an overnight stay visiting family.
Clean, comfortable and quiet

The staff were ok apart from the lady with the beard who was grumpy. The beds were hard and uncomfortable. The floor boards creeked loudly and the pipes in the walls clattered when other guests turned their taps on. Traffic was noisy outside and the food was overpriced. The rooms are overpriced too.

Nice old building, friendly staff. Slightly run-down air to the place, but plenty of room, and it was quiet.

Very basic hotel in much need of an update. Room was not particularly clean. A used vape was left in the bathroom.
TV in the room didn’t work.
Bathroom very old.
The room was extremely warm. It was 15-20degrees outside when I stayed and I’m not somebody that is usually bothered by heat but I had to sleep with both windows open and a fan on. There were 2 fans in the room, 1 of which was broken. I suspect the fans were there because the heat is a problem.
Staff were ok when available. No staff manning the breakfast or front desk in the morning so I had to wait for service.

The age of the property shows, the floor and tiles in the bathroom were stained, when steppwd on the floor sank like it was about to give way.

I stay away in hotels 3 nights per week for work so think I know what is good value or acceptable.
Quite run down hotel room 277 has hole in bath panel and cold tap swivels round. Food choice is below average and not great but ok.

The hotel was very close to family we were visiting. It had a large parking lot which was free. The staff were friendly.
It had a nice lounge downstairs where we could decompress over a drink and enjoy some quiet time after a busy day. Those are the positive aspects.
The building is very old and beautiful but our room, a large corner room, was in need of lots of repairs. It did come with a kettle, and a hair dryer, but hand towels and wash cloths were not provided which I have never experienced, just a bath towel.
I think for us, the price of the room is a lot for what you get.

I have been staying at this hotel on and off for 20 years. I had a fondness for it as I almost lived there for a bit in 2013 when I was based their four nights a week. However, I have to say the place has deteriorated whilst it prices have substantially increased. Last night I went to the bar and ordered a beer . They had run out of ALL DRAUGHT BEERS ! any establishment can run out of one beer but to run out of them all is nothing but incompetent management. They only had two bottle beers left. I ordered two bottles in a pint glass which worked out at £11 and they were warm. This is totally unacceptable in an establishment charging me £150 a night.

Was very noises my from the road and room was very outdated. Had very little sleep because of customers in the room next door making a lot of noise

My stay was very pleasant and peaceful however the bathroom hot tap tended to drip when closing the tap which resulted in a small puddle near the bottom of the sink but overall a very good experience

Good hotel near city centre. Book early to get good price and take some ear plugs if your room in near the front and you want to block traffic noise
1.0 / 5.0
Quality for money was appalling. Very noisy and inaccessible for a first floor, no lift but also no assistance offered or an explanation of labyrinth of corridors, doors that banged and more steps up and down at every turn. The many different receptionist during my 3 night stay were not informative or appeared to know their basic job requirements. I requested the need for a fridge for life dependant medical condition and they could only offer use of hotel fridge. When asking for medicine to use, it was frozen and not refrigerator so not useable. When l explained and consequently had to stress the importance of fridgeration not freezer, l was greeted with distracted responses, apparently dealing things like straightening desk top objects and a shrug and thats the only room we had available for medicine. I had rang ahead to discuss my requirements and was informed that it would be fine. I would never stay here again or suggest to anyone else to stay here. Please find alternative arrangements where you are welcome and treated with some respect.

No heating. Portable heater was given but it’s not enough to heat up the whole room.
No phones in room so had to call with mobile. As nobody picks up, I had to keep going downstairs to reception.
No wifi, bad reception so had to attend meetings in my car

I could not use the shower as the bathroom had strong sewer type odour every time I opened the door.
Tap on hand basin almost came off in my hand.
Room too warm and no obvious way to control heating, courtyard dining area very cold for breakfast.

Sorry to say, not my cup of tea

Lovely and very large bedroom, dinner was good, and no issue ordering at the restaurant just before kitchen closed.
Very comfortable bed, I also enjoyed a spa bath in my room.
Staff were all very helpful.
Breakfast was good and plentiful.

Staff were great, rooms are tired, breakfast was cold and not great, roadworks outside from 10 til 6am didn't help my sleep (not the Hotels fault). The bar area is nice, i would return.

It took 45 minutes going around through road works to enter. No warning. Workmen machinery noise on the street jut outside window equals sleepless night.
2.0 / 5.0
Horrible area, tatty building. Asked for a quiet room on booking and arrival and were loudly entertained all night by traffic and wedding guests. Strong stench of sewage in the very tired room from a clearly faulty toilet so we had to leave the bathroom window wide open all night. Ear plugs just about made the noise manageable, although we did have to fight over a double quilt on a super king bed. The coffee at breakfast tasted like dishwater. No sign of any fruit. If had paid £50 for this room I wouldn’t have minded, but this whole disappointing experience set me back £150. General staff were lovely. Manager had a fixed smile which said that she heard complaints like mine every single day and she really was not interested. Shame, what could be a beautiful building going to waste.
