Town: With a market charter issued in 1203, Hartington, which is located in the Dove Valley of the Peak District National Park, was a significant market town in the Middle Ages. The ever-popular village now has charming tea rooms, a cheese shop, antique shops, local taverns, and a beautiful market square where the stone-carved village pump, which was once a crucial supply of water for the residents, still stands on the green. Local ales made at the Leatherbritches Brewery in Fenny Bentley and Whim Ales in Hartington are available in the neighbourhood bars. Around a mile and a half from the hamlet, the former Hartington railway station has been transformed into a picnic spot, and the converted track is known as the Tissington Trail and is well-liked by both hikers and bikers. A magnificent area with oddly shaped cliffs and rocks, Beresford Dale, may be explored on foot from Hartington. Alton Towers is conveniently located, and both Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall can be reached within a 20-minute drive.
