The Birchy was a nice, updated, and clean place to stay. I loved the contactless check in and check out. I loved the text reminders and emails about our stay. I loved the email that gave ideas of things to do and places to eat in the area. I would stay here again!

Pros, Good location, clean room and bathroom, fancy heated mirror in bathroom. Comfortable bed, but on the soft side.
Cons, we had the corner room so the balcony was off the side of the building and not on the lake side. View of lake out window was obstructed by trees. Shower ran out of hot water after 1 shower. When heat turns on there is clicking sound every 5 seconds that comes from wall heater.

Very nice view and very comfortable beds. Clean and good value.

Really beautiful view and a great value for the location. We enjoyed the patio a lot. Two notes I would add, if you are hoping to view the northern lights you may want to go off premise as the property is very well lit. Great from a safety perspective, but less so for night sky viewing. There is some degree of road noise on the patio, but that comes with the territory of such a conveniently located roadside stay.

Our experience from checking to checkout was simple. We were kept informed via texts. Our bed was very comfortable and the room was very cozy.

Would definitely stay here again

Im not a complainer, and hate to complain, so let's start off with this... Great communication via text, with easy instructions. Easy to find. Cute place, right off of the Hwy and across from Beautiful Lake Superior! Parking right outside your unit. It was easy access to enter into your Unit, via instructions given.
We stayed in Unit 44. It was super cute! It has a small refrigerator, small microwave, sink and cubby holes/shelves, table with coffee maker, bench type luggage rack, metal chair, decent sized bathroom.
One thing this unit does not have, is a patio or deck, which we were a tad disappointed at, since all the other units seemed to have them. Just a large window with blackout remote blinds, overlooking the Hwy and beautiful Lake Superior!
**Please add a deck and sliding glass door to Unit 44!!**
Thankfully, The Birchy have picnic tables outside on their grounds for you to be able to sit and relax at. Even with the traffic going by, it was peaceful to sit out there and look at the Big Lake, the moon and stars, plus the sunrise!!
Now, I will admit, my husband and I are bed snobs, as we own a Tempur-Pedic. But... let's talk about the bed! It was NOT comfy! We felt like we were falling into the headboard when we would lay down! We slept, but both woke up with very sore backs!
Otherwise, for those minor things, it was a great place, close to town, and we would stay again.

Great stay, will stay again.

The bed was too high, had to stand on a chair to get on it. The electronic key pad malfunctioned, took the staff over an hour to rectify the problem. The hair dryer was missing, and we had the only room in the entire hotel that didn't have a balcony or deck. There were weeds knee high in front of our door. This place did not live up to it's web site description. The only saving grace was that it was extremely clean and the bed was comfortable once I got in it. I would likely not stay there again.

Amazing stay, great location. We will be back.
4.3
Good stay. Clean room with comfortable bed and plenty of charge outlets. Need to provide enough coffee for entire stay. Good location.
4.3
Great stay. Great location. This place is great and will be at the top of the list when we return.

It’s an OK place to spend a night. The rooms are nice enough but the surrounding area isn’t. There was all kinds of construction materials and a dumpster right outside. The lake view is more of a busy highway with a lake behind it. The whole virtual check-in thing was incredibly annoying. I thought it would be easy but it was nonstop texts and emails and requests for phone calls. I’d have much rather dealt with a person at a desk one time than that mess or messages for two straight days. If you really need a place to sleep for a night, sure, but you can do much better.

the hotel is situated directly across from the shore of Lake Superior. i spent much time on the balcony reading and watching the waves roll in. the room was well equipped with a microwave, fridge/freezer, and great toilettries. the check-in/check-out was simple and straight forward.
4.3
Great views. You hardly heard your neighbors. Comfortable rooms.

We loved our stay at the Birchy. The room was spotless and full of nice touches, like remote control window shades. We enjoyed the deck, with its view of Lake Superior. The bed was very comfortable. We paid an extra fee to bring our dog, which was worth it. We would highly recommend this recently remodeled motel.
4.3
Excellent clean very easy to check in property, but on a four-lane highway very loud. If you want quiet and peaceful to hear the birds, this will not happen at this location. Very clean excellent accommodations. The air conditioner could not keep up with the heat and humidity. The bed is very high, so if you’re a short person, you’ll need help getting into bed.

I was never given access the booking was inncorect. When I called for help I was given access to someone else room by my surprise. The contact just ignored this happened. They were no help and messed up my whole trip. Causing a terrible experience to me by intrupting someone’s space. I demand a refund.

We had a great stay at The Birchy. Beds were comfortable, great water pressure in the shower, a decent size room, and nice balcony to stare out over the water.

Rooms were very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable.

We loved this place! Really wished we had booked more days there. Our room was on the ground floor, at the end of one building. Our view of Lake Superior was awe inspiring so sitting on our patio was very relaxing. Sailboats and Jet-Skis, plus the historic Ore Dock were fun to watch from there. The room was small but we didn't need anything that wasn't there. We didn't make use of the pool or the kayaks/canoes, but they are available. It was also fun to learn that there's a large thimbleberry patch growing wild behind the hotel! Wish I'd known what they were earlier! Next time, we'll have to book a few more days so we can enjoy the location some more!

This is a no-frills hotel. There are no on-site staff. There were no bars in the closets. The air conditioner filter was filthy. The location was great and the yard games and fire pit was appreciated.
4.3
This refurbed property is a great place to stay. The decor and room facilities were perfect. Comfy beds. The Balcony with view of the lake was a lovely place to relax. There was space on site to BBQ or have a fire pit.
4.3
Could use a niche or shelf in the shower for shampoo and things and another above the toilet.
Loved that you could just walk across the street and get to the bike/walking path. You get a great view of the sunrise over the lake in the morning.
4.3
Clean, comfy bed, accessible shower, AC, nice tv, plugs and charging stations at bedside, convenience of a microwave, fridge and coffee maker. Across the street from Lake Superior and an outstanding walking trail where you could trek down to the water. A really fabulous stay. Only challenge was checking in…our access code didn’t work and there was no response by text so had to track down the phone number. The code was reset while on the phone and all was perfect thereafter.

Excellent stay!

Great property! Great location! Great service! Thank you!

This newly renovated hotel was really nice. The bed was comfy, the bathroom was nice and the view was incredible. When we arrived our code didn't work and fortunately another guest had the same issue earlier and had the number we could call. This definitely saved us time. Unfortunately, we had issues locking the door when we left and figured out the door to our room didn't align properly which was kind of scary since we had left for a few hours and didn't know this. It would be VERY nice if the hotel had instructions on how to use the remote for the TV..kind of a pain. The air conditioner was subpar but we made it through. Our unit had a refrigerator and microwave which was very nice. I kept receiving text messages even though we hadn't checked-in and I didn't realize we would have to be out of the room by 10am, ugh. Also, they ask you to take out your own garbage which I have never seen before. Kind of ridiculous as their reason was 'for cleaning staff safety', what? Cleaning bathrooms and bedding I feel would be more hazardous. Overall, this place is a gem and we would stay here again. I wish them MUCH success!!!

Better than I expected by far! From the deck looking at the lake to the fire pit and picnic tables on the lawn to the lovely room everything made for a relaxing stay.
4.3
Great property. Contactless but easy to follow instructions. Remodeled and very clean. I would stay there again.

My family very much enjoyed the stay and will definitely be back for another adventure in Marquette, MI. Kids loved the pool. Beds were a great nights sleep. We enjoyed watching the sunrise over Lake Superior. Easy check in and out. We would definitely recommend it.
4.3
Great place to stay for our family. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Pool was a bonus! Easy check in and check out process.
4.3
Wonderful place, great staff and beautiful scenery!
4.3
The property has been spruced up recently, and everything was squeaky clean, attractive. The are no "front desk" staff at the facility. You have to reserve online and then I received an email with instructions on how to check in and a code for the door to our unit. Actually there was a barrage of text and email messages about how to check in and check out. The system worked, but I find it off-putting to not have staff available to welcome you, answer questions, etc. We are no longer living with pandemic restrictions, so why act like it? Why this emphasis on doing as much as possible electronically and minimizing human interaction? Part of the pleasure of travelling is interacting with and learning from local hosts.

The Birchy Lodge in Marquette is a true delight! Spotlessly clean with incredible attention to detail, we felt immediately at home. The lodge is modern and updated, boasting a terrific lake view that adds to its charm. Every aspect reflects the owners' dedication, from the comfortable furnishings to the thoughtful amenities. It's clear they have invested significant time, thought, and money into making the Birchy Lodge a perfect getaway. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a relaxing and picturesque retreat.

Very clean & quite , peaceful.
The veiw of Lake Superior was great.
4.3
Room was fresh & clean other than the shower curtain wich was long and yellow at the bottom, very gross. Stayed 2 nights, had 2 coffee packets which we used the first morning, asked for more coffee packets for our second morning & were told they would be delivered, however they never were. be prepared to take care of the room trash yourself. The area behind the building,at the parking lot had a dumpster & lots of pallets & trash sitting around it. Outside our room a bird had built a nest and there was a ton of bird dropping in front of our door, very gross.
4.3
Beautiful views of the lake, close to town, clean rooms, super easy self-check in. Lots of outdoor options like games, fire pit and green space too. Only negative was the people upstairs were banging around non stop from 8-10:30pm. Birchy does provide sound machines which was a nice added touch.
4.3
Clean, easy check in, lovely view!
