Great stay. Room excellent, staff excellent. Best hotel out of many we stayed in during our trip. Good access with a lif

Very Good security. Staff were really helpful and welcoming. Lovely room with an upgrade. Half board option was good value. Very good access, had a lift. Staff made extra effort for my husbands birthday. Good location for train, shop etc, and beach bars if you wanted. Great outdoor and indoor sitting area in the room, tv with international channels. Nice sea view.

A Tropical Paradise

My stay at Pandanus Beach Resort and Spa in Bentota, Sri Lanka, was full of comfort, and natural beauty. The first thing that strikes you is the breathtaking beach that frames the resort. The service here is exemplary; every staff member, from the front desk to the restaurant, greets you with a warmth that makes you feel instantly at home. they charged me a ridiculous price to go to Yalla park. I could of gotten it for 1/3 of the price online.

Horrendous place

There is nothing that we liked. It is a horrendous place.

This is definitely not what it says it is. It is a property stuck in the 70s. The reception area is dark and horrendously decorated, with a huge plexiglass separator with a small window on the bottom. Feels like you are getting train tickets in a Gor forsaken village. The reception personnel looked unkempt. The room had a musty smell, the elevator was absolutely disgusting with dirty and ill fitting carpet, the sofa in the room had a huge stain, the door looked as if it had been scratched all over, the AC was only noisy but not cooling at all, the pool water was greenish looking. When we arrived at 9 pm, although it is supposedly a 5* place, the reception was dark and there was no one to welcome us at the door as it is usually done in this type of establishments. They were really preoccupied with us paying for the room, but the invoice they presented had nothing to do with the fee on booking. They started calculating the exchange rate into rupees. When I told them I preferred to pay in USD as in the booking, they scrambled again to find from the bar a cc machine. When we checked out, again, the reception was completely dark, unprepared. There was a guy shuffling his feet from here to there, not knowing what to do. After I threatened to leave without paying the extras as it had been more than 20 minutes of waiting, he went somewhere in the back and brought a guy in a crumpled t-shirt and dishevelled hair, which scrambled to complete the check out. This resulted in us leaving to the airport quite late. When we wanted to have some activities organised, no one knew in reception how to do that or what we could do for 1 day. Luckily, we booked a driver who was very knowledgeable. The food was subpar. The buffet dinner, although it had some variety, didn't even compare to any of the food we had eaten from restaurants on the side of the road, which had been delicious. The curries were just spicy and bitter. Red wine was brought to us chilled.

It was gratifying! Special mention for the staff who made our stay special with upgrade and a birthday cake. :)

The property offers enviable views of the sea and an abundant access to the beach which is clean and well maintained. They upgraded us to the premium room which faced the sea and it was an absolutely wonderful experience! Rooms are big and spacious, washrooms are clean and extremely clean.

Air conditioning can be looked at along with the lighting in the washroom.

The most highlighted factor is the service of the hotel.All the staff members are super friendly and warmly welcomed us and helped us throught our stay. Location is an ideal place for the beach lover.It's calm and not so crowded place that makes you feel comfortable and peaceful. Food is also tasty and good. All in all we had a great time in this hotel

A bit of a let down

The room had the most spectacular view.

The beach. It's a really narrow and the hotel sunbeds are all on top of each other. The communal areas of the hotel are really not in line with the standard of the room. The area - you would be better off finding a hotel in Bentota itself.

Exceptional

Food was excellent. The international buffet had a wide spread and food was delicious. All staff members are extremely polite and courteous. Has a great beach with decent waves and is very clean. Has a narrow but long swimming pool with water jets, ideal for relaxing.

Sea view from my room was completely blocked by a tree :-(

Perfect location for a beach holiday.

The location was perfect, right on the beach, great spacious and comfortable room with sea views. Very nice swimming pool. Very good breakfast. Dinner was ok.

Hot food would be appreciated at dinner. Main courses could be more appetising for dinner. As some staff seemed to be new in the dining room, induction training should be provided. They tried hard but need guidance.

3 star but charging 4 star prices.

we upgraded to the deluxe double room which was lovely.

hotel generally run down and unclean looking. drinks outrageously overpriced so we bought drinks at the bar next door. Food awful and expensive. the roof top bar is closed which basically left there being no bar at the hotel (other than pool bar which is about 2metres big) and no where to chill out congregate with drinks. this is a 3 star hotel.
