We really enjoyed our stay. Very dated, bare-bones lodging but the staff was friendly. Free breakfast included a made-to-order omelette station. The restaurant was lively on Friday and the food was fresh and cocktails nicely made. It was an older, chill crowd overall that was staying there during our visit.

The location of this hotel is great…very close to downtown. But there is no water views except from the front steps. Also, the hotel and rooms need a buff job. The beds were just ok, the walls were very thin so could hear conversations next door and footsteps upstairs, the bathroom was crummy as the tub is worn and needs replacing and there was hair in the tub when we arrived, and the lighting is horrible as not enough lamps so very dark. Overall, it needs updating and a good cleaning.

Very pretty

Over all it was a nice place. Convenient for fishing. The grounds are well kept.pool needs updated and a hot tub would be nice.outdoor tiki bar looked like a great hangout over looking the water.

Very outdated room smelled musty. The shower had black stuff coming out faucet like was water from the lake. Have no idea.i let shower run 10 min trying to maybe clear out. Nope Breakfast was supposed to have what everyone bragged about a omelet bar. Wasn't an egg in sight.only a few muffins and cold cereal.
Was very disappointed for price for sure.

My partner got Covid the day we were supposed to stay, being respectful humans we opted to stay home and quarantine and they refused to refund the cost of our reservation. A little customer service would go a long way.

Property is way over priced for the quality of the space. The staff are super though.

This place is simply amazing. It's as old school as it's gonna get. No it's not the Ritz Carlton. It's a classic. Other reviews complained about cleanliness. Our room was immaculately clean.
Staff was awesome, Willie and Shelly at the bar, fantastic. This place is a winner. A definite do again!!

Friendly staff.

Very friendly staff. Thank you for the pet-friendly rooms! Very nice community space with a fireplace right outside our room. Nice touch!

The location was great. The staff were wonderful. The omelets at breakfast were a nice touch. The bathroom needed upgrading. The shower curtain had mold on it.

Great place! We can’t wait to go back in 5 weeks and stay longer!

From the front desk lady, to Mary Ann our first server, to the omelet guy, to our 2nd server, everyone was wonderful and helpful. The grounds are so pretty, along with the tiki bar, and restaurant patios. We ate on site both nights, and the food was really good. The rooms had all the comforts of home, and comfy beds. There is even a comfy game area where we could play cards. Love it here!

Don’t do it! Not clean, TV didn’t work, check-in was not smooth. This property needs to be renovated.

The shower had a large amount of mold.

Everything inside the lodge was fantastic. The deluxe room we had was very nice and clean. The restaurant and the tiki bar were great, all food options were beyond our expectations. Breakfast, coffee and creamer options were very good. Only complaint we have is the pool was COLD. it was 80* and the water was an uncomforable icy cold. A heated pool would've been great. Otherwise, we'll be back in the future.

The property is perfect for the area. You visit Door County for the charm. It’s old but well kept, wonderful breakfast included great restaurant onsite and bar & tiki bar. It’s great!

Lodge is very outdated for the price, air conditioners in rooms are window units, dirty and very old, outdated dingy towels and bathtubs.
Room smelled very clean and liked the outside deck, pillows are great. Shelly at Tiki Bar was amazing!! Food is average not a big menu.

The hotel is Ok, it is old but clean. Limited choices at breakfast. I would stay again if the price was more reasonable.

We stayed for 1 night, and our double queen room was very clean and had an air conditioner. Though not technically "updated," everything was in really good shape (save for one of the queen mattresses that had a slope to it).
Everyone was friendly, and though we didn't get the chance to eat at the restaurant on site, the food smelled good! We did have the included breakfast, and it was a pretty decent continental, including someone making eggs/omelets.
Parking was a little tight, but there is definitely enough space to park on gravel or grass if not enough actual parking spaces. That being said, you will need a car to get to downtown Sturgeon Bay.
I would definitely recommend this place!

This place is an outdated dump. The rooms are like hotels where crack is sold- absolutely disgusting.

This is the second time we stayed here because we love the homey old days feel of the place! Love the staff and the lodge like feel.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the check-in process was comprehensive. Our experience at the restaurant/bar trying to get service was miserable, however. The location of the lodge was convenient for accessing the town.

This property is a historic gem in the area. The staff was top notch professional and very accommodating while this may have been the absolute cleanest overnight lodging I have ever had. The room we had was clearly updated and it appears they worked hard to maintain the original charm of the property.
The first area of concern for us was the bathroom. Again, cleanliness was not an issue at all, however the tub was very old, stained porcelain and the non-slip strips were nothing more than strips of color with all the non slip properties completely gone. This left the tub a challenge for us to use with our orthopedic issues, okay, it felt unsafe. The toilet was crammed between the tub and vanity and the toilet paper was mounted in the side of the vanity making it a challenge to get to.
The other are of concern is we were directed park around the back of the property to be closer to our room. The parking area is all chewed up, not clearly marked making it hard to tell if it is the actual place to park and no parking lines. The other issue is there was one handicapped parking place leaving us a distance to maneuver on the uneven and chopped parking surface as we made our way to the door.
We would stay again if there were AODA style bathrooms on the first floor, which we did not specifically request, merely requesting the first floor because of our orthopedic issues and the fact that there is not an elevator.

this property is in need of a good renovation. Peeling paint, old dated, breakfast very sparse. Will not be back.

Staff is amazing! Expedia has listed that there is a pool; however the pool is shut down.

The Breakfasts was amazing the stay was nice, the room was clean. The only downside was the Expedia website screw up my stay, by not specifying I have to share my bed with two more. But everything else was nice.

Everything was good.

Good service. Location was OK. Condition of facility was dated but ok. Breakfast was great. Mattress was obviously well worn with noticeable deep indents on each side. Needs replacing. Curtains for the sliding door were not room darkening and partially transparent. Would not stay again unfortunately.

Room had mold above the shower light, seal on shower leaked. Timer for fireplace was broken. For the price I expected much nicer amenities.

Although the property is listed as “pet friendly” on Expedia, I was charged an extra $250 fee for traveling with my well-behaved, clean, and quiet dog. The receptionist informed me they only have 4 pet friendly rooms on the whole property and apparently I wasn’t staying in one of them. Seems like that would have been helpful information during check-in instead of check-out. I would have taken my business elsewhere had I known of the fee beforehand.

The Lodge has a great family appeal with a nice view of the water across the street. It was exactly the close location we were looking for to go explore Door County during our visit to WI. Upon arrival we received a free appetizer of our choice in the bar, very yummy and every morning they had an omelette station, a nice upgrade to the traditional complimentary continental breakfast. Overall a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend!

Delicious breakfast, great nights sleeping, close to shopping and sights, were all enjoyed by us.
An older lodge with the north woods charm and hospitality.
Will plan on a return visit.

The Lodge exceeded my expectations because of how clean and comfortable our stay was. The room had a jacuzzi tub (I was leery about using it but it was super clean), fireplace, a small kitchen area, and separate living/ sleeping space, private patio. The decor throughout is a bit outdated (think a cozy stay at grandma’s) but not important to me. Our stay included breakfast- with waffles, an omelette station (served hot & fresh made to order!), breakfast muffins/ cereal, yogurt/ granola, juice/ coffee/ tea. The property has a lively bar/ bar type of restaurant with similar food choices. The staff here were all very welcoming and friendly. They also welcome guests staying with pets as pet friendly rooms are available. (We stayed without pets and I didn’t see or hear one the entire time I was there.) The lodge is right across the street from water/ a small marina. The only negative is that there is no fan and the rooms aren’t very sound proof- hallway noise & noise from above is very easily heard. We had a group of women outside our room conversing/ laughing with disregard to their noise level in the hallway until late. A white noise machine/ fan can help with that.

Place was super cute and friendly only thing that needs serious work is the pool.. it was very run down and filthy.. kids were wanting to swim and it was really gross

The room is musty smelling. The floor is dirty. I want my money back!! The manager was nice. But did not give me a new room. Was going to charge me for a upgrade!!! Ridiculous!!!For the money i spent on this room.. It should have been a really nice place .
