Coney Street, York's premier shopping street was home to some colourful characters down the ages. In 1150, the main street in York, was called Cuningstrete, the King's Street. It ran from Ousegate right to Museum Gardens. By the 18th century it was the site of the seat of government in the city, with the Guildhall and the Mansion House in pride of place. But it was in the 19th century that it became a shopping centre par excellence, with high class fashion establishments, costumiers, furriers, milliners, linen drapers, pianoforte warehouse, bookshops and jewellers, as well as the home of York's first department store, Leak and Thorp which opened in 1869.

Tobacconist & Cigar Importer

Named after one of previous retail occupants, The Tobacconist and Cigar Importer has been finished using strong fabrics and furniture with statement chandeliers and furniture, all handpicked to add drama and excitement to this fabulous one-bedroom apartment. The bedroom, with its stunning bespoke headboard adds drama to this striking apartment. With a large en suite bathroom comprising of a double shower and freestanding bath this spacious, elegant room adds further to the five star experience of the apartment.

There is also a kitchen area in the apartment - however with everything so close to you, you may only want it for making your morning coffee!

This is an amazing place, luxurious accommodation at a very reasonable price, the best location you could get for a stay in your, the facilities and finish of the property is second to none. The only thing I would say would be to provide decent pillows and spares for those who like to be higher when sleeping, the pillows were the cheapest of the cheap and made sleeping uncomfortable. The booking was easy, the communication was excellent and check in and instructions were perfect.

I booked my stay last minute and was thrilled to have one night in The Tobacconist & Cigar Importer. The location was easy to find and all check-in instructions were clear, easy to follow, and accurate. The room itself was incredibly spacious, well-designed, and comfortable. I felt like I was staying in a luxury apartment. The space was truly beautiful, immaculately clean and well-maintained, and felt like a getaway within our holiday. I booked at the last minute so I wasn't able to stay for two nights but absolutely would have. We moved to another location for our second night in York and really missed the comfortable luxury of The Tobacconist & Cigar Importer. Beautiful space, comfortable bed, gorgeous bathroom, spacious living room... In my opinion, better than the photos conveyed. Will absolutely return next time I'm in York!

What can I say about this property location excellent So much space spotless facilities were great only slight moan water power in the shower was good but could be better but over all we loved our stay here will definitely be back again

This apartment is stunning and is exactly as shown in the photos. The location is in the centre of York and everything is within walking distance. We were in York to celebrate our son's 21st birthday and having the large living room meant we could all get together for pre-dinner drinks before we went out. Check-in was very easy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

My partner & I Stayed at 34 Coney Street, Tobacconist & Cigar Importer apartment on Friday-Sunday to celebrate his 50th Birthday. We always use Stays York as find them excellent, however we were disappointed with this apartment. For a self catering apartment you would definitely expect more in the kitchen! 1 wine glass? no standard size glasses. Very limited kitchenware, no bottle opener, hardly anything you would expect and have had previously in other apartments. Normally the bathroom has a full bottle of shower gel/cleanser - this place had no shower gel left in the bottle. The TV did not work upon arrival either. We have received a lovely welcome pack at all the other apartments but again here - teabags and coffee and two biscuits, Very limited and not made very special. Overall disappointing considering this is one of the more expensive apartments that you have to offer.

Very nice room everything you would want. You’re in the heart of York we enjoyed every minute and we will definitely book this again. Customer service excellent rang me day before to make sure we had everything in advance ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Booked a weekend for my partners birthday and I was hoping it lived up to the photos and it really did. Absolutely beautiful, lovely furnishings, really comfortable, so nice to come back and put your feet up after a day exploring York.

These apartments are amazing! The location is right in the middle of the city centre and the decor is beautiful. I feel like there are only a couple of very minor tweaks that would make this place perfect. The bathroom door being completely see through would definitely be an issue for a lot of people. And the frosting on the bathroom window has a chunky gap around the edges - although it looks nice, it does feel like others could see in if they tried. That being said, I would very much recommend this apartment! It’s extremely luxurious and we really enjoyed our stay.

The apartment is exactly as it’s shown in the photos. The location is great for walking around York and visiting all the attractions.It’s extremely clean and well set out with everything that you may need. The only slight criticism I have is that the door to the bathroom is clear, we feel that there should be some sort of frosting put on there so you’re not in full view of each other whilst sat on the loo. Whether you’ve been together a few months or 20 years like we have there is some things you like to do in private. Saying that it wouldn’t stop us staying here again but it would make it more comfortable. We will definitely consider staying here again.

This place is right in the middle of York which made our trip so easy, no messing around with taxis or anything, just out the door and your there! The entire apartment was stunning and finished superbly. We are looking at staying in a different apartment in the building next time but this one will be hard to beat! They all look exceptional.
