Villa Mitrea is a bright and elegant apartment located in the center of Positano. It sleeps six people. From Villa Mitrea you will enjoy a charming view of the sea, of Positano and of the Amalfi Coast. Villa Mitrea is 200 square meters (2150 square feet). It features a private jacuzzi pool, a spacious private terrace with a view of the sea, air conditioning (please read description below to check in which rooms the units are installed) and WI-FI Internet access.
You will be in the heart of Positano, a few steps from restaurants and shops. You will find the stop for the Flavio Gioia bus interno Positano line a few meters (feet) away and the closest beach (Fornillo Beach) at roughly 600 meters (660 yards) including 270 stairway steps (other beaches with less steps to climb are also available in the area). You will reach Villa Mitrea from the street level going up approximately 50 stairway steps.
You will not need a car to stay at Villa Mitrea. If you do have one, you will be able to park it downtown, for a fee, in a private parking lot.

Villa Mitrea is part of an old house in Positano which dates back to the eighteenth century. The house is located in the oldest and most typical area of Positano, consisting of white houses separated one from another by narrow streets and stairways and embellished by terraces rich in flowers and white masonry arches. Here the houses are built as if they were attached to the steep rocky coast. They all face the sun and the sea, forming that picturesque cluster of houses which render Positano so unmistakable!
You will be halfway between the beach and the state coastal road in a great and convenient position to reach either on foot or by bus either of the places.
The road below the villa is a one-way street run only by local cars and shuttles which take people from the lower to the upper part of Positano, which means from the beach and the pedestrian and shopping streets below to the national road up above.
The elegant shopping streets and the beach can be easily reached as all you have to do is descend some pedestrian shortcuts. Taking the old ‘scalinatelle’ (public narrow streets actually consisting of stairways) of Positano is something not to be missed if your legs allow you to do so! By going through these narrow stairways, besides seeing all the tourist-visited places, you will be able to unveil enthralling angles of Positano. And then, once you have reached the lower part of the town on foot, you can always go up again by bus!
Terrace
The terrace is 30 square meters (320 square feet) large. It is partly shaded by an awning. It is equipped with a table, chairs, a sun umbrella and four sun loungers. From the terrace you will enjoy a fascinating view of the sea and of Positano.
Verandah
The verandah is 20 square meters (215 square feet) large. Is equipped with a long sofa and armchairs. From the verandah you will enjoy a gorgeous view of the sea and of the small Li Galli islands at a distance.
Wellness room
You will be able to enter the wellness room from the living room. It features an above-ground heated jacuzzi pool with hydromassage with six seats. The wellness room has a window with a view of the sea.
Living Room
You will be able to enter the living room from the verandah. The furnishings are modern and welcoming, and include two armchairs. There is a practical fireplace made of stone. The dining table can accommodate six guests. In this room you will find a flat-screen television (local channels).
Kitchen
You will be able to enter the kitchen from the living room through an arched opening. It is equipped with a five-burner gas cooker, a microwave/oven combo, a refrigerator with freezer, a dishwasher, an Italian-style coffee-maker and an American-style coffee-maker.
Bedroom 1 with en-suite bathroom
You will be able to enter the first bedroom from the living room. The furnishings are simple and comfortable. The room has a matrimonial bed (160 cm/63 inches, wider than a queen-size bed). This villa was absolutely perfect - and the terrace is incredible. It is exactly how it looks in photos (but better!). The AC in the bedrooms works really well, the kitchen has many essentials (you feel like you are in a family members kitchen) and the hot tub was nice to relax in - especially after hiking the path of the Gods!
We had the owner/chef prepare a meal for us and our only wish is that we had booked a second night. Balda is so kind/fun - and such an amazing chef! Our dishes included octopus salad, stuffed zucchini blossoms, lemon shrimp pasta, sea bass - all using his own honey, olive oil, vegetables - plus his wine!
Balda truly made our visit one we will never forget! He was super responsive via What's App and gave us great suggestions for dinner, drinks, etc - and even helped us with transportation one day. We WILL be back to stay with him!!

This villa was one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. It is impeccably maintained. There are so many pieces that are incredibly interesting in the villa itself and it has the most amazing view of Positano. It is walking distance to everything. There were a couple of rainy days during our stay and there was nothing better than soaking in the jacuzzi and watching the ocean and rain outside. The villa has an amazing wine cellar, everything you can possibly need in the kitchen, and very comfortable bedrooms. We spent the majority of time in the terrace which is like a dream.
Baldassare is one of the best reasons to rent this incredible villa. His attention to detail and care in everything he does. He is so proud of the villa and the town of Positano. We were able to spend time with Baldassare as he cooked for us an incredible meal and introduced us to the wines in his cellar.

We LOVED Villa Mitrea! When you walk in, you can't help but be impressed by the gorgeous space. It is beautifully decorated with artistic touches.
The terrace is spectacular. Having two sitting areas indoors was very nice for us so that our groups could have some privacy. Eating lunch outside on the terrace was great, but we did not have warm enough October weather to eat dinner outside and we found the dining table indoors to be a bit cramped. The bedrooms were perfect for our group (we were there with our young children and their grandparents). The adults each got a nicer room with a balcony and the kids got the room having no balcony (no window either) -- this room was still lovely with the option of opening big windows on the doors to see across the hall to the terrace and views outside.
I don't think that the location of the villa could be any better, but being in Positano, there were 400+ stairs to climb from the water to get to it. The location is great because it provides stunning views (being high up) and also because it is steps away from what seem to be the best restaurants in Positano.

The villa is spacious, light and airy and quite comfortable. The terrace was our favorite place to spend time. We had our coffee out there in the mornings, wine in the afternoons and cocktails in the evenings.
The beds, by American standards are not very comfortable, however after traveling all over Italy we realized this is the way they are. The views from the two master bedrooms made up for it.

Villa Mitrea is amazing!
3 large bedrooms and 3 large bathrooms makes traveling with a group spacious and gives you privacy. The terrace is out of this world with an amazing view. We spent every night out there. The kitchen is state of the art, modern and very American.
Be prepared to get in tip top shape. The house is about 40 steps up from the street and a bit of a (scenic) walk up and down the mountain to get to the beach.
The owner of the villa, Baldassarre is also a chef and just lovely. Have him cook for you one night - you are on vacation, go for it! You will not be sorry!

Villa Mitrea is spectacular with a view that is breathtaking. It is very modern, clean and complete with everything you may need. The location is perfect. We stayed in the property with our 2 daughters, it would be great for 3 couples as well.
We took other reviewer's advice and had Baldassarre cook for us one evening. He was most gracious in accommodating last minute additions. The food was so simply delicious and the wine was outstanding. The muscles he made were the best we have ever had... This coming from a native Bostonian! He is an amazing host and took time to give us suggestions and we really enjoyed visiting with him.

We spent most of our time on the beautiful terrace. The views were spectacular, both during the day and at night. We found out how much we appreciated the location on the day we went down to the dock and walked back through the area of Positano closest to the beach and the dock. Our villa was in a much quieter, more peaceful location. The kitchen was modern and very well stocked, and the beds were comfortable. We would love to stay there again.

We lived mostly out on the terrace since the weather was beautiful. The views were spectacular and we began each morning out there with a two hour breakfast. The kitchen was well equipped and was great for our group of 6. Bathrooms were all recently renovated and mattresses were all very comfortable.
Location of villa also made it perfect. Minimal steps to the street and then not a far walk to shops, restaurants and markets.

We had a wonderful time here. The villa was magnificent, beautifully clean and the views were fantastic.
Balda [the owner] met us on arrival and showed us around which was very helpful. He didn't even take our deposit just told us to spend it and enjoy! We must have looked like very honest people to him which was nice.
The only problem was that one of the showers drainage was very slow and on the second last day it blocked up altogether. We just used another shower but did leave Balda a note when we left to point that out. I'm sure he would have seen to it straight away.

We absolutely loved our stay at Villa Mitrea! Not only is the villa itself (particularly the terrace and view) stunningly beautiful, the location is perfect! With three equally appointed crisp and clean en-suite bedrooms, it was easy to travel with another couple and not feel as though one is getting a palatial master suite and the other getting the kids' room. With the glass wall of sliding doors that open from the living room onto the terrace, even if the weather is not perfect, you still can enjoy the amazing view. The kitchen is well stocked with all the utensils and appliances you need.
Baldassarre, the owner, is extremely friendly and kind. We did not have any issues whatsoever during our stay, but he was a quick text away if we needed anything.
Booking through Summer In Italy was a breeze. They, too, are extremely efficient and friendly. If we return to the Amalfi Coast, we will definitely stay at Villa Mitrea again! We have already recommended it to family and friends!

BEST location, WONDERFUL villa, GREAT owner. He has a restaurant in the next town and sent a car for us. DO THAT! You will love the food and Balda is a wonderful host both at the villa and at his restaurant.
The villa is beautiful and views to die for. There is another apartment above that has renters also. We had twin 4 year olds who really wanted to come down by us. No big deal, though. Don't let the 46 stairs scare you off, unless you cannot walk hills... but then, do not stay in Positano. it is so beautiful... RENT Villa Mitrea!!!!

Our group of 3 stayed at Villa Mitrea in October 2019. Everything about this property was wonderful, especially the owner Baldassarre, who was very welcoming and gracious.
The property is well appointed and comfortable with lots of space and privacy. The highlight of this property is definitely the indoor/outdoor terrace - when it gets too hot to be outside in the full sun, you can just retreat to the shaded indoor area and still feel as part of the outdoors.
The location was close to great restaurants and shopping for supplies and groceries were nearby and convenient. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed all of our meals on the fabulous terrace enjoying the view.
Of particular note was a meal prepared by the villa owner, Baldassarre - a wonderful evening with lovely paired wines and beautiful food and his charming personality. The property and Baldassare are perfect!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Villa Mitrea and would definitely book into this property again if the opportunity arises.

Villa Mitrea was a delight. We all had our own bedrooms and bathrooms. The rooms were airconditioned. The view was outstanding and the kitchen well equipped. I highly recommend this accommodation.

Villa Mitrea was beautifully decorated with many lovely little features we were still picking up on after being there a few days.
Our host was helpful and the villa was clean and well set up with everything we needed for our stay.
The location was terrific and the view from the balcony was to die for!

We absolutely loved Villa Mitrea and would highly recommend it to others. The property was very artistic and individual, clean, had a brilliant kitchen, but most of all the views were outstanding.
The owner, Balda, was very welcoming and responded quickly to any questions or slight problems e.g. needing a new gas canister.
In addition the villa has a good position in Positano although there are many steps in all directions.

Villa Mitrea was perfect for our family of five -- we were traveling with our three adult age children -- and the bedroom and bathroom arrangement worked great for all of us.
The outdoor patio/terrace has a spectacular view of the water as well as the town. There were many days that we were all content to stay at the house sunning and reading books on the terrace.
Villa Mitrea is in a great location and easy to get to the center of the town as well as the beach. If you are not up for taking all of the steps up and down to the beach, the road is an easy and enjoyable walk.
The owner, Baldassarre, is very accommodating and will offer guidance on places to go in Positano as well as other towns on the coast.
