We had a great stay at Above the Clouds cabin. The view is even better than the pictures and the cabin has everything you need. David was very responsive to the few questions that we had during our stay. The property is also very dog friendly, with lots of enclosed decks.

Our stay at this cabin was wonderful. The mountain view was fantastic. The cabin itself was perfect. Cozy, plenty of room, just a beautiful cabin itself. Hopefully we can come back and stay a little longer. The road up the mountain is a little rough, but after you go up a couple of times not a big deal. The video directions really helped out a lot. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway...this is it.

The property is fabulous. Love the floor plan. The kitchen needs a can opener that works. Love the screened porch with with amazing views! However, couldn’t use it that much because of all the pollen on the floors and the furniture. I feel this should have been cleaned. Overall I love the property!

Would definitely stay here again; great vacation for our entire family with plenty of amenities and space for our entire group.

Good: Very responsive owner/manager to questions. View of mountains from deck is great. Great fire pit. Well-appointed cabin, dishware, cookware, plenty of towels. Road to cabin is steep, but manageable.
Could be better: No starter shampoo, bath soap. Some of the comforters showing their age. Area right below deck with dead trees/shrubs distracts a little from the mountain view, especially as some trash (plastic/cans) is visible.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay with friends.

After staying in multiple mountain properties and owning a rental cabin myself, this one has without doubt the most beautiful view of any. You have to work for it a little bit by navigating a rough unfinished gravel road but honestly after you drive it a few times it's a non-issue. Cabin is well stocked and you can tell that the owner meticulously maintains the property and cares about the structure and the guest's experience.

This home was one-of-a-kind in terms of its beautiful view and the trip up the mountain to get to it! It had enough space for two families with kids and dogs to enjoy. We had a blast.

This was the first cabin me and my wife stayed in back in 2007. We got married on 2008 and stayed there again for our honeymoon. We haven't been back here since then and was shocked at all the rentavations that was done It's now even more spectacular! The views are incredible. So many great memories at this place. Look forward to many more. Love the dog area.

We loved the view! We loved the layout of the house. Each couple and one single each had their own floor. This gave us our own space but also space to come together for games and meals. We loved the stocked kitchen to cook in. We loved reading the guest book entries. We loved waking up to the view (except when it was raining and cloudy) lol. I personally enjoyed the early mornings on my deck reading the Bible and watching the clouds move through the mountains. Everything you need is there - tvs, full cable, games, fireplace…we were bummed it was too wet to use the campfire. And we aren’t hot tub people but it was a nice addition. We loved the game room. Seriously the whole time we were talking about when we could come back and considered booking an extra night!
It was SO clean too!
Upon arrival, there was a fire over the ridge and we were told by a fireman we may have to leave during the night. We let David know and he was super nice about the whole thing. Thankfully they were able to get the fire out and we didn’t have to leave.
The only real downside - the road up to the cabin. The owner isn’t kidding in the listing - it’s rough and hard on your vehicle BUT it’s doable! We limited our in and out to one time a day and we had 3 cars so we limited the vehicles we brought in and out as well.
All in all - can’t wait to book it again in the future!

The drive up the mountain makes you wonder at first but it is well worth it. The house was great for our 3 adult couples and 2 dogs. It was easy to get to other places for waterfalls or shopping. The views and peacefulness were perfect.

Look no further, This is Great Cabin and by far the best of the best facing nothing between CABIN and Mountain. Location is great. Honestly, I was scared about the host's disclaimer about the gravel and bumpy roads before booking. On reality, It was just a piece of cake in driving. Any cars can easily make it. Host responded like Robot at lightning speed. Overall, Awesome experience. Minor Things to improve (ALL ARE NITPICKS) are to add door locks for the main floor bathroom, Having Rice cooker is great. Again, These are nice to haves and minor things.

We really enjoyed staying at this cabin. The online description is very accurate in regards to amenities and expectations. All of the furniture was comfortable. There was plenty of room for our family of 10 without us feeling like we were cramped. The view was fantastic, as was the plentiful porch and outside spaces. The road is steep and a little tough to traverse in a couple of places, but we had no problem in two trucks and a van.

Of all the rentals we have booked over the past 20+ years, Above The Clouds is by far my favorite! This was our second stay here. The cabin is so well furnished, it’s like going to a second home. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could probably need to prepare meals. There is an abundance of seating, both inside and outside. The perfect place to relax…this cabin is the epitome of comfort!

This was our fourth time staying at "Above the Clouds". We absolutely love this cabin and the blue ridge area. Whether hanging out at the cabin or enjoying the many things to do in the area you will not be disappointed. Thank you Larry for offering your cabin for everyone to enjoy. My family looks forward to returning soon!

We had an infant, 2 year old, 3 year old, three sisters in their 30's, their husbands, our mom who was turning 60, and granny who is 80. Every single person had the time of their lives. There was so much privacy for everyone, but also communal areas that fit everyone in one place. We used the fire pit, the hot tub, the floor level balcony, grill, and puzzles/games. We ate meals at the large table with a screened in porch, we ate at the large table near the firepit, and we ate at the large table inside the dining area. We were truly "above the clouds" and loved seeing clouds float in front of us in the mornings! It was beautiful! The views were amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful cabin with our family! It was such a memorable experience for every single adult and child! Our 9 year old dog also had a blast! Thank you for the sweet doggie table, poop scooper, and the fenced in yard for him to run around!

Beautiful vast views of Blue Ridge mountains! Screened in porch for evenings- and no bugs. The drive up to the property is quite steep gravel road and you may need to really have a SUV with all wheel drive.

We had such an amazing time at this cabin. Its beautifully decorated and the layout is perfect for multiple families. The drive up the mountain was a little daunting for us Miami folks but it was definitely worth it. The views of the cabin are incredible. David was a great host, always super friendly and responsive. I definitely recommend to anyone that would like to enjoy peaceful times in the mountains.

Fantastic cabin with amazing views and all the amenities of home. Kitchen is just the right size, the beds were big and comfortable. The hot tub was awesome, we loved and utilized the outdoor firepit. We made it up the mountain just fine in our minivan. Lots of fun things to do in and around Blue Ridge, but we really enjoyed just relaxing at the cabin the most!

We found the cabin, way up on top of the mountain with gorgeous views. It was clean, nicely furnished and lots of entertainment options. The downstairs was quiet when anyone needed quiet time. We would definitely like to return here another time!!
