We felt so blessed to have found Baker's Cottage for our recent visit to the area - we lived nearby in Mouth of Wilson years ago and were in town to both celebrate the retirement of an old friend, but also to celebrate our anniversary. The location of Baker's Cottage was close enough to nearby towns for evening entertainment but also quiet and cozy for time together.
Our favorites were sitting on the porch with the screens to enjoy the cooler mountain air and relax, as well as breakfast fixed by hubby eaten out on the porch just over the babbling brook running through the property.
It was a great little cabin with recent updates to modernize it a bit without losing it's charm. Was super-clean which is not easy to find in keeping with my personal expectations so that was one less stressor as I often spend the start of any vacation getting a place up to those standards and I didn't have to lift a finger related to that here - a huge thank you to Holly & Tonya!
Btw - we visited Red Dog Bar & Bistro sitting on the outside porch in the back for dinner and live music which was lovely, thank you for the suggestion!

My wife and I were looking for a quick getaway to have some time to decompress from several stresses happening in our lives during the past two months. This was a perfect solution for us. The cabin was built in 1935 and is still in the family. There is a creek that runs directly behind the cabin and one night we sat out on the back deck and listened to the creek. Another night we sat on the covered front porch and listened to the rain.
The cabin was very quiet and relaxing. Tonya was extremely extremely accommodating and left us a some cinnamon bites us at check in. She also had left some dog treats for Brian, which he loved.
Overall this was exactly what we needed and Tonya was a great host.
I would highly recommend the Baker Cabin to anyone.

My husband and I had a wonderful week in this beautiful and comfortable cottage. The outdoor spaces were varied and a joy to the senses--a running brook, lovely landscaping, fire pit, shady and sunny areas, covered outdoor seating and table and more. The large screen TVs were specially enjoyed by my husband and a lovely sunroom was a great place for me to read and relax. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The host was easy to reach, responsive and accommodating. We hope to stay there again and will tell family and friends about this gem.

What an adorable cottage! Sure, the floors were not level….but the beds were great. The bathrooms had been updated. There was a terrific sunroom….and the property was gorgeous. We had two dog with us and they loved the space to run and catch a frisbee.
The house was equipped with so many amenities.
I would definitely visit again.

My husband, son, and I stayed for a few days Easter weekend. We are familiar with the area and always enjoy going into West Jefferson and exploring at the New River State Park (search for the US 221 entrance to find the real park).
We were greeted at this adorable cabin with some goodies for ourselves and for our dog, that was an extra nice touch! The cabin was very clean and cozy. Our favorite parts were the creek, the sunroom, and the fire pit.
We will definitely look at renting this space again!
(To our hosts, we found at least 2 great places to hang a hammock near the creek that would be an added bonus to all of the sweet amenities! wink, wink)

Wow, just Wow! My family wanted a mountain getaway to spend some time together for Christmas, and this was the perfect place. When we walked in the door it was an overwhelming feeling of ‘going home’. It was warm, tastefully decorated in general and for the holidays, and full of Christmas spirit. The hosts thought of every detail, including our favorite pastries and treats for our fur babies. They loved the outdoor area and running along the creek, and the sunroom is the ideal spot to unwind and enjoy nature. The cottage was immaculate and the hosts are great folks that have made this an awesome place to vacation.

If you’re seeking some peace and quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of life, this is the place!
As we approached the cabin, we saw the welcoming seasonal gourds and pumpkins and the pillows on the front entry porch, The cabin is beautifully decorated and all you will hear is the birds chirping and the sound of water trickling in the creek in the backyard. There are so many spots to relax in, in the covered deck (complete with rockers), in the backyard by the firepit (we made s’mores!) or the screened sunporch. All the modern amenities are there and if you play it smart, as we did, and shopped for our stay at Ingles, then you don’t have to leave to buy food.
We can’t wait to return and appreciate all this cabin has to offer.

This cottage was so cute, clean and comfortable. It was decorated so nice. I loved the red fridge and enamel pots and pans. I also loved the glass room. That's where we stayed when we were there. Wish it had been warm enough to enjoy the outdoors. It was cold and rainy the whole time we were there. I talked to the lady and her husband and they were great. I plan on going back in the spring and staying there.

My stay at Baker’s Cottage was a truly delightful experience. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the picturesque surroundings and the charming character of the cottage’s interior creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The attention to detail was remarkable, with every comfort carefully considered from warm fuzzy blankets to a well-equipped kitchen which made me feel right at home. The cozy cottage was impeccably clean and well-maintained, which added to the overall sense of relaxation.
One of the highlights was the beautiful green space where I could unwind during the day in the fresh air while listening to the bubbling creek or stargazing at night sitting by the fireside. The tranquility of the location provided a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
The owners were incredibly welcoming and accommodating, ensuring that my stay was nothing short of perfect. I left the cottage feeling rejuvenated and grateful for the wonderful experience. I would highly recommend this cozy cottage retreat to anyone seeking a peaceful and charming getaway and look forward to my next visit!

Cute little cottage, very appealing looking.
Didn’t miss a garbage disposal or dishwasher at all. Love the window room. Great place to watch the squirrels and creek.
Easy to find with GPS. The little separate deck was great for playing cards or checkers, or just rocking.
Enjoyed my stay.
