About this house rental
Welcome to Miss Oliver’s House, a charming, colorful, and well-loved 1909 home in historic Wallingford just north of downtown Seattle. Perched on a hill away from the street, enjoy the sunset over the neighborhood and distant Olympic mountains from the wood-crafted front porch under the apple tree, or hot tub in the privacy of the stone back patio surrounded by native trees and warm string lights.
Inside this classic home, an open floor plan connects the entryway, living room (with wood stove), dining room (with large table), and fully stocked, renovated kitchen (with handcrafted kitchen island and cabinets, coffee/espresso makers, and other appliances). There are also 2 private bedrooms (that sleep 4), and 2 bathrooms, one of which includes an original claw foot tub and the other (located in the unfinished basement) with a large walk-in tile shower.
For sustainable living, the house includes solar power, LED lights, double-pane windows, energy-efficient washer and dryer, rain barrels, reusable bags, recycling and compost, low-flow fixtures, plus local organic soaps and coffee provided. The neighborhood has great locally-owned restaurants, breweries, farmers’ markets, grocery and other stores.
The house is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized prior to each guest visit, but please note that cats have lived here, in case you have severe allergies. Sorry, no pets are currently allowed. Also note that there are 22 steps from the street to the front door for access. There are also a few indoor steps down to exit the backdoor as well as to reach the basement with the 2nd bathroom.
Enjoy walking among charming homes and old-growth trees to nearby Green Lake, Woodland Park Zoo, the University of Washington with its Burke Museum and Huskies games. A short drive away is Gas Works Park on Lake Union overlooking downtown Seattle, plus the popular neighborhoods of Fremont, Ballard, Queen Anne, and the U-District. For outdoors, walk the nearby Green Lake trail, bike the Burke Gilman, hike Magnolia’s Discovery Park, kayak on Lake Washington, or boat cruise in the Puget Sound. Highways, public buses, and light rail are nearby to get you everywhere, including the Space Needle, Pikes Place Market and waterfront, Seattle Art Museum, historic Pioneer Square and underground tour, plus several stadiums and theaters for sports, music, dance, and opera, plus world-class restaurants, bars, clubs, and shops!
Just outside the city, you can enjoy viewing waterfalls, hiking, fishing, sailing, golfing, skiing – there is so much to do and see with the surrounding Cascade and Olympic mountains, San Juan and other islands in the Puget Sound, the rugged Pacific coast, the fascinating cultural heritage and artwork of local indigenous tribes, tulip festival in spring, vineyards and wine tasting, Victoria and Vancouver in Canada, and more! Come explore the sights, feel the culture, celebrate an event, or simply relax and enjoy your home-away-from-home. There is a discount for weekly visits.
When you arrive, there is a Welcome Booklet inside with more information about the home and neighborhood. We are happy to host you – welcome and enjoy!

Twin bed was broken. Ice maker inop. Basement shower broken. Spa was too hot. We did fine in spite and enjoyed the property. The owner gave us $100 credit and we were happy with the stay.

The property looks exactly like the pictures. The location is in a very nice area with a convenience store just a few blocks away as well as coffee shops. Seattle was very hot but the cottage was much cooler since it has numerous fans. The property manager was communicative.

Jan and I had a stupendous time. We daresay that the house was not merely an cute craftsman. We felt right at home right away. It was obvious that you'd spent a lot of time (essentially) curating everything about the inside. It felt like a well-lived house with history, not merely a random collection of "period pieces" thrown together. We were especially tickled that you retained the former front door, with kitty Miss Oliver's cat-door! (Oh yes, and your instructions were complete and clear, and we felt well taken care of.)

We loved everything about this location and house. We used all sorts of transportation to get where we wanted, public transit, Uber, our own car, and lots of walking! The neighborhood was beautiful with Green Lake close by. It was also close to great restaurants, coffee shops, and a nice grocery store. We would highly recommend this rental.

Very convenient location to Green Lake, U village, Huskyville, etc. very cool hot tub area. Kitchen was well equipped. The host was VERY accommodating in returning some meds I left in the fridge. Thank you! May I suggest a railing on the stairs going to lower bathroom. I’m worried someone might fall. Also, It might be time for a new shower head upstairs.
