About this house rental
This hideaway home has been custom built with romance and solitude in mind. Escape to nature but still be within minutes of shopping and convenience items. This home is approx 45 minutes from Acadia National Park, depending on traffic, and within minutes of beautiful coastal views. The home itself is on a dead end side road with a small pond and plenty of wildlife, trails and nature views. There is a small part of the driveway that is a dirt drive and we are still working on the landscape as this is a new construction. Apple trees attract deer, the pond attracts birds of all types and the trails are peaceful and tranquil. Please keep in mind we do live in a hunting community so orange attire is strongly suggested when hiking our paths. The open cathedral ceiling interior boasts a queen size bed fit for a Queen and/or King with a whirlpool tub at the foot complete with an electric fireplace and tv. Our living room area has a beautiful leather couch with a recliner on each end, an electric fireplace and tv. If you want time to yourself, reconnect as a couple or just a perfect place to enjoy, this is the perfect pick.

My girlfriend and I enjoyed a wonderful stay here! The property was nestled back in the woods, providing a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere for our trip. The home was very nice and clean, and had everything we needed to enjoy our vacation to Maine! We were a quick drive from Acadia and Bar Harbor which were awesome! I am very glad we chose to stay here! Overall, we have no complaints and would come again…

We scheduled 2 days here in the middle of our Maine vacation. Initially the purpose was to get close to the Puffin boat tour. Unfortunately the remnants of a hurricane brought lots of rain and rough enough seas for a small craft advisory, so no boat tour.
All that to say the location and timing of our stay here was perfect. Instead of being stuck in a small hotel room surrounded by people, we had our own little cottage in the middle of the woods. Isolated and quiet - perfect! With a grocery store minutes away and several restaurants, we found it both convenient and secluded.
This is a rural country cottage that is very unassuming from the outside, but still has the new car smell it is so new and clean. Beautifully finished, it is comfortable and had everything we needed. Private and quiet.
Yes, it is rural. Yes, the road is gravel leading up to the cottage. But we had a Kia rental car that handled the road just fine, even with all the rain and standing water. If a night in the woods with nobody around is spooky to you, this isn't the right accommodation. But if you enjoy quiet, peace, being alone with no city or town lights around - you will not be disappointed.

We rented this property for our 25th wedding anniversary. We were looking for a romantic getaway and felt the description described what we wanted. The inside was beautifully decorated but the shower had a big leak causing us to have to clean it after every shower. In addition, the water in the toilet turned brown after a few flushes. We contacted the owner and she said it was a new well. Because she seemed unconcerned and because we were not sure how the brown water might leak in other sinks we did not feel we could drink the water and had to buy bottled water. Outside, the property did have a pond but the trails were not noticeable, the outside area of the house had not been finished and therefore the rock was hard to walk on and , finally, the road in is dirt/washboard rock with large dips. We are glad we had a truck or we would not have been able to get back there. In addition, the houses you pass as you drive back to this area made it even more concerning. Ultimately, this property was not what we expected from the description. The owner did respond quickly to the messages but did not do anything to remedy the shower leak or concerns about the water. We did leave 3 days early because of the shower and water issue, in addition to the other things I mentioned here. Just want people to be aware of what they are getting when renting this.
