About this apartment rental
These days, it is not so easy to find a historic place to stay in St. Barth. Often, that is a good thing. But for guests who crave a bit of history and a more personal connection to the island, there is the newly completed apartment Swedish House (SWE). It is a passion project that is very dear to the hearts of the principals of Sibarth.
The two-bedroom apartment is directly above Sibarth’s office in Gustavia. It is one of the few remaining historical buildings in town, also known as La Maison Suédoise. Exclusively available through Sibarth, the luxury rental property is part of the Lacour family estate, which is comprised of several uniquely designed suites and apartments around a tropical garden in the heart of the city. This puts it within easy reach of Gustavia’s boutiques, bakeries, restaurants, and nightlife. Shell Beach is just around the corner.
Better yet, when you stay at the Swedish House, you are directly above the Sibarth Concierge team. They are ready to create all sorts of wonderful memories, everything from private wine tastings to windsurfing lessons.
Of course, you still enjoy plenty of privacy. The vacation apartment has a separate entrance from the office. They share a courtyard garden with coconut palms and some fruit and flowering trees. The Swedish House also has its own private balcony—one of few from a bygone era—overlooking the town and the harbor.
In terms of ambience, the apartment has a French colonial style with modern conveniences, in keeping with the historical heritage of the building. The decor incorporates selected unique pieces of furniture, both antique and contemporary, and Slim Aarons photography. There are parquet floors throughout, and a set of 19th-century theater crystal chandeliers adorns the living room.
That living room is the heart of the apartment. It includes a sitting area with a bespoke library and a Sonos sound system, a colonial-style desk, a custom Devol Kitchen with Gaggenau appliances, a dining area. In case you get thirsty, there is a reverse-osmosis system for drinking water (no more plastic waste!) and an on-demand refillable wine refrigerator.
The two bedrooms lie on either side of the living room. Each has its own ensuite bathroom and a built-in wardrobes. Each bedroom and the living room have "Frame" televisions with Apple TV and Netflix. The entire apartment is air-conditioned.
For larger groups, it can be rented together with Greenhouse (GEN), Botanist (BOS) and Alchemist (ALC) creating a compound with five bedrooms in total.
