Garrett’s Grotto is a beautiful house in a quiet neighborhood. It’s located with an easy walk to a peaceful beach.
The floorplan is perfect. There are three bedrooms up and one bedroom down. Each of the four bedrooms has a large private bath for convenience and privacy. There is also a half-bath downstairs. The master bedroom upstairs has its own private balcony. Balconies on both levels have a view of the Gulf.
The kitchen is well-stocked and spacious. The furniture is nicely maintained, attractive and comfortable. The house is very clean.
We did have a struggle getting into the house, because we weren’t informed that the active, but inconspicuous, key box is on the ground floor near the stairs, and not the obvious one right next to the front door at the top of the stairs.
Four days prior to our stay we inquired about a possible early check-in, which would have been extremely helpful due to our unique arrival times. We were told that, once it had been cleaned and inspected, we would receive a text as to its availability. We never received such a text. We called several times prior to normal entry and experienced very poor customer support from the management company. Once the normal entry time arrived, we still couldn’t get in because we were using the incorrect key box.
Poor response from the agent team was not a good start, but that did not prevent us from enjoying this exceptional property. We’d love to stay there again with the hope that customer support greatly imp

We loved our stay. Only one issue- my husband and I stayed in the downstairs bedroom to let the kids/grandkids be together upstairs.
One morning at 4 am one of the pictures over the bed fell on us! it hit my face and cut my husband's arm. So scary and had the glass broken, it could have been critical. We removed the other picture so it did not happen again. My advise is to nail the pictures to the wall or don't hang them there.

Property was nice however, we were there when Hurrican Beryl hit Galveston when it was originally supposed to be more west of our location. One thing I tried to do is report problems with the property manager once the hurricane had passed. No power, we had to leave our vacation on Tuesday 7/9 when we were scheduled to be there until Saturday 7/13. Very disappointed in the lack of concern from the property manager on whether we were ok or not after this hurricane hit. I am sure the business and their employees were dealing with their own personal situations but they should have had someone on point to reach out to all these rental properties.

The house was amazing and the location was even better! It was a quiet neighborhood with quick access to beach! Lots of space inside and outside. Could easily accommodate two families of four (kids that can fit on bunk beds) and another couple. Very clean! We even enjoyed the downstairs during a crazy rain storm. We will hopefully get to stay here again! Ask which lock box has the keys for check in.

Overall the location and the property itself was exactly what it needed to be. We loved the space, the distance from the beach, the ambiance, and everything else.
We did have the unfortunate pleasure of driving up to the house on Friday to a pile of trash just laying around. Not only that but it was left there over night and the local wild life spread it all around, causing us to clean it up. So that was not fun for a start.
I would also like to point out that the key box is downstairs, not the one right next to the front door. Which is a little counterintuitive but, not a significant issue in the end.
And finally the communication from the team in Texas is somewhat abysmal. I had to reach out to the office in Florida just to talk to a human, and even they were unable to get a hold of anyone local.
So overall the trip was great outside of those caveats. I can recommend it so far as you are willing to risk that if something goes wrong, you may not be successful in getting the issue resolved in a timely manner, and that the communication can be slow in response.
But the place was clean, it was inviting, the furniture was comfortable, the patios were great to relax on, the location was worth it, and we felt safe, secure, and comfortable overall.

We also stayed at Garrett’s Grotto last year.
It is spacious enough for 3 families and the huge upstairs closet is perfect for a baby in a pack and play! Very clean, a well thought out floor plan, everything in good working order.
Easy walk to a peaceful beach

We absolutely loved the house and it was beautiful. The only thing was the trash can was filled and overflowing when we got there and so we had nowhere to put our trash

Garrett's Grotto is beautiful and spacious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We experienced a hiccup with check-in due to very last minute notice that as a prom house we were required to do a special check-in which required us to arrive by 5p or pay a fee for after hours. This should have been communicated prior to booking, as it is unrealistic for guests to arrive by 5pm on a Friday. Also if it is protocol for an armed officer to stop by the house to remind guests of the rules, I feel like he could have communicated the rules and expectations at that time.
There were a few small issues with the house, including how to lock doors, trash overflowing in outdoor bin when we arrived, and ceiling fan not working properly in bunk room, which took several communications to have resolved and did not feel like any urgency from management company despite that we could not lock our doors. However, they were finally resolved, and did not deter from our enjoyment of the house. We also understand that you cannot stock the house with everything guests may use or need, but were surprised that no trash bags were provided as this is beneficial to both parties to maintain the house.
Overall we loved the house, and will recommend it to others. The issues were minor, and I only include them here as feedback.

We loved this house! It had the perfect layout for two couples and 5 kids. Each bedroom had its' own full bathroom for added privacy. The master has a beautiful private balcony with gulf views. We will definitely be staying here again.
