Rose Cottage, surrounded by serene countryside, stands as a unique and charming upside-down house with two bedrooms, offering an extraordinary living experience. This architectural gem is a testament to creativity and innovation, providing breathtaking panoramic views that stretch across the lush, undulating landscape. This upside-down house ensures that the primary living spaces, including the kitchen, dining area, and lounge, are located on the upper floor. This clever arrangement not only maximizes the potential for stunning vistas but also enhances the overall sense of space and openness. The upper floor features French doors opening onto a large sitting-out area where the countryside unfolds before you, a patchwork of fields, meadows, and hedgerows.
From sunrise to sunset, the changing colours of the sky paint a dynamic backdrop, making every moment in this house a visual feast. The open-plan living area is flooded with natural light, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that complements the beauty outside. Descending to the lower floor, you find the two bedrooms, each offering a private retreat with its unique view. The master bedroom, generously proportioned and tastefully decorated, opens up to a private patio. Imagine waking up to the gentle sounds of nature, stepping outside, and being greeted by the crisp morning air and the unspoiled beauty. If you do not fancy cooking then a short stroll along the road takes you to a popular pub and restaurant. Mersea Island gets cut off for about an hour when there is a very high tide, usually once a month, so it’s worthwhile checking the tides, all adding to the uniqueness and charm. It is a beautiful island with lots of coastal and nature walks, seafood restaurants with the famous Mersea oysters, delis, takeaways, supermarkets and child-friendly pubs with craft beer.
Why not visit Mersea Island vineyard and brewery where a beer festival is held at Easter and you can buy real ale, wines and even Mersea Island gin? The Mersea Regatta, which has been running since 1838, is held every August and should not be missed. There is a variety of rowing races, an outboard motor balloon race, a swimming race and ‘walking The Greasy Pole’ and ends in a firework display in the evening. Just a bit further the popular seaside towns of Clacton, Frinton and Walton are great for a traditional day at the seaside, with amusements on the pier and lovely walks along the sea wall. For more traditional seaside fun with amusements and candy floss then Southend on Seas or Clacton is ideal. A short distance away is Colchester with its array of shops, restaurants, castle, museum and zoo. Rose Cottage offers the perfect romantic retreat or family break.
