About this apartment rental
Summary:
Nestled within a 17th-century monumental building in the enchanting old town of Haarlem, B&B apartment Het Pakhuis is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. With Amsterdam, lovely beaches, and historical landmarks just a stone's throw away, this charming retreat promises a unique and inviting escape. The accommodation itself is a private stay in a distinctive 17th-century, two-floor backhouse, covering 45 square meters.
The Space:
B&B Het Pakhuis resides behind a large former storage house on the corner of Krocht and Nieuwe Groenmarkt. The cozy two-floor 17th-century backhouse provides a unique retreat for two to three guests. Secluded from street view, the apartment features a sitting room with a spacious pantry on the ground floor, a comfortable bedroom with a bathroom on the first floor, and your private rooftop terrace—all conveniently located around the corner from the Grote Markt.
Pantry
You enter through the shared hall of the building to the pantry/kitchenette, which is equipped with coffee and tea facilities, an egg boiler, microwave and a toaster. Glassware and crockery, a selection of teas as well as Nespresso cups are provided.
There is a separate toilet on the ground floor (the house only has one toilet located at the ground floor).
Living room
The living room boasts a comfortable sitting area (the couch can be converted to an extra-wide 140 cm bed) and a table with three chairs. Enjoy the cabinets adorned with curiosities, stream movies on the smart TV, or browse through a selection of books.
Bedroom
Ascend the stairs to the first floor, where a comfortable bedroom awaits with a double bed (160/200 cm). Ample space for hanging clothes, a cupboard, and a hand-cloth steamer are available. The small yet luxurious bathroom features a shower and a washing basin. All linens and towels are provided, along with shampoo, hair conditioner, shower gel, and a hairdryer. Please note there is no extra toilet in the bedroom (The toilet is on the ground floor).
Roof terrace
Accessible from the bedroom, the rooftop terrace offers views of historical houses and the St. Bavo Church tower. To ensure a peaceful environment for our neighbors, we kindly request guests avoid using the terrace between 22:00 and 8:00, as voices may resonate between the houses. Enjoy the tranquility and the view!
The Neighborhood:
The apartment is situated right in the heart of the old town, just steps away from the historic Grote
Markt, boasting the impressive St. Bavo Church, the tourist office, and the bustling Saturday
Market. Surrounding Het Pakhuis are not only historical sites but also charming cafés, a diverse
array of shops, and enticing restaurants. Don't forget to explore the nearby treasures such as the
Teylers Museum, the Frans Hals Museum, and the iconic Adriaen Windmill—all conveniently
within walking distance, promising a rich tapestry of experiences just waiting to be discovered.
Getting Around:
Much of the old center of Haarlem is car-free, creating a peaceful atmosphere. It’s easily accessible, just a half-hour bus ride from Schiphol Airport via bus 300. Haarlem Central Station is a convenient ten-minute walk away, ideal if you’re planning day trips to Amsterdam (18 minutes by train) or the beaches of Zandvoort or Bloemendaal aan Zee.
To explore the beautiful surroundings, consider renting bikes. Parking in the city center is subject to charges, so if you arrive by car, you can either park at Station Haarlem Spaarnwoude (free of costs) or in one of the nearby parking garages.
Other Things to Note:
Kindly be aware that our charming historic front door may, on occasion, be a bit temperamental, especially with changing weather conditions. To ensure a smooth experience, simply give it an extra little nudge and make sure to lock it securely when entering or leaving the house. Your understanding and care are greatly appreciated!
The use of our roof terrace is only permitted between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM.
