About this cottage rental
Skip the large, busy lakes and come and relax on quiet Dexter Pond in Winthrop, Maine! Enjoy great bass fishing, canoeing, paddle boarding, kayaking or relax on the large deck overlooking the water. Many great hiking trails nearby and it's easy access to grocery stores and farmers market. The cottage has plenty of space with 3 bedrooms and a great big porch for outdoor dining. The space is perfect for unwinding - listen to the loons, sit by the outdoor fire pit...beautiful in all seasons!
About the space:
The cottage is a split level. On the main floor is a clean and spacious kitchen that has everything you need for an easy comfortable stay: pots and pans, many cooking utensils, coffee pot, tea kettle, waffle maker, children's dishware, wine glasses, etc. There is a dining table with four chairs and bench for additional seating. We also have a dining table leaf to extended table if needed. For outdoor entertaining and dining, enjoy the large deck with an oversized patio table and grill.
The bright and airy main living room has great views of the pond! There is a smart TV and pull out sofa.
On the main level there is a full bathroom with shower and tub (linens available). The primary bedroom is also on the main level and has a comfortable queen bed with organic cotton linens and large closet.
The basement level has a second living room with a futon (full size mattress). Enjoy board games or puzzles on the large coffee table. There is easy access from the walkout basement to a patio and the pond. Great for coming into the house after enjoying the outdoors!
Two additional bedrooms are on the basement level. The second bedroom has a queen size bed with cotton linens. There is no closet in this bedroom, but there is a garment rack as well as a dresser. Please note that the closet in this bedroom is a utility closet that houses the hot water heater and water pump.
The third bedroom on the basement level is perfect for adults or kids. It has two twin beds, large closet, and dresser.
There is a washer and dryer also in the basement (laundry detergent provided).
The camp comfortably sleeps 6, but can accommodate up to 8 with the futon and pull out sofa.
Outside guests can enjoy the spacious yard, expansive deck, small swing set for kids, and outdoor fire pit. We currently have 2 kayaks, 2 canoes, one stand-up paddle board, and one pedal boat for you to use.
Dexter Pond is a hidden gem with minimal boat traffic. The fishing is great and the water is calm making it ideal for kayaking and paddle boarding. Water levels of the pond vary, but it tends to be shallow with some vegetation directly in front of camp. Once out on the pond, the water is nice and clear for swimming!
Other things to note:
The cottage is not a party-rental. It's a perfect place to unwind, reconnect, and enjoy the outdoors. We ask that renters are respectful of this for us and our neighbors.
The cottage is on a well-maintained dirt road. Guests are asked to drive slow. There is a small narrow bridge that you must cross to get to the home. It is completely safe and rest assured that large trucks cross it.
Both indoor fireplaces are non-functional.
Because the cottage is a split level, please be aware that it may not be suitable for families with babies. There is a stairway inside from the main level to basement as well as a large deck on the second level of the home.
Access to the pond is down a sloped hill - not suitable for guests with mobility issues.

The cabin was as described. Very peaceful, quiet, clean, up to date/modern decor and Lauren was very responsive. Lauren had all the supplies we needed for our stay. We enjoyed the deck, the paddle board, kayak for fishing (my son caught plenty of bass with his own equipment), the canoe and were appreciative of the beach towels, linens and paper supplies. The beds were comfortable…the only suggestions I would provide are to inform renters to bring drinking water and to add the parking request to the instructions for checking in prior to arriving at the property. We didn’t know about not parking on the lawn to unload until we got inside and read the check in/check out book….sorry. Also, there are plenty of fans, but a window air conditioner would be nice in the upstairs bedroom. It got a little warm, even with the ceiling fan. There are plenty of fans though and I didn’t realize there was an extra one in the lower level until the last day. It’s obvious Lauren and her husband take great care of their property. Thank you for sharing it with us. ❤️

Such a lovely location with wonderful views. The house was very clean and didn’t have that “over used” feeling that a lot of rentals have. Lauren does a really great job of making sure you have everything you’ll need. Highly recommend this stay!
