Beach lovers should head to Heacham’s wide, sandy beach and explore the rolling sand dunes. Enjoy blustery beach walks and wild swimming. Or if the sun is shining build some sandcastles, paddle or top up that tan. Heacham beach is just perfect for all of this and is considered by locals to be one of the best in the area.
Drive east from here and you will discover a treasure trove of coastal habitats from stripy cliffs to pretty little creeks and harbours, and from salt and clay marshes to picturesque quays, with boats bobbing on the tide. It is all here waiting for you to come and discover it.
Of course, the area is simply packed with historical sites too. Visit Castle Acre or Castle Rising, make time to take in the Hanseatic Quarter of Old Kings Lynn and head to the Houghton, Holkham and Sandringham Estates, maybe enjoying one of their many events and exhibitions. There is so much wildlife in the area too there are great RSPB sites in the area including Titchwell and Snettisham Marshes, which are both within easy reach. Add in some great golf courses, wonderful walks and super cycle routes too and you’ll soon discover why so many people fall in love with this incredible area.
