Located in the heart of Venice, on a quiet tree-lined street, the famous Abbot Kinney and Marina are just steps away. Designed by noted architect, John Porter, with vaulted wood ceilings and plenty of skylights, it’s bright and airy, and totally relaxing… In one of the best areas in Los Angeles, California, it's no wonder renowned architect, Frank Gehry, has chosen to build a home right down the street! The Main House has a fully equipped kitchen that opens to a private deck, perfect for a BBQ and al fresco dining. Set in tropical gardens with mature palms, and giant birds of paradise, the deck is a tranquil setting. Indoors, you can cuddle around the cozy fireplace. Sit under the orange tree in the tropical garden and relax, great for a picnic.
In the Main House, each of the three bedrooms sleeps two; 2 queen beds and 2 twins that can made up as a king or as two singles. There is also a trundle day bed that sleeps two, a queen aerobed, and convertible couch available to sleep up to a total of 10 guests.
Many say this is their favorite place; we have lots of repeat guests!

Perfect location in a quiet neighborhood that is convenient to the beach, Santa Monica, Malibu, the canals, etc. Very comfortable and convenient house. Great set up for a family to spend some time. Full kitchen, both indoor and outdoor eating spaces, 3 big bedrooms. Some of the amenities could use updating (e.g., the Zagat's is from 1997, the house welcome manual is outdated in terms of restaurants that are no longer in business and TV operation, lots of VHS tapes but no VCR), but those are easy fixes and very minor issues. All in all, this is a great property from which to explore LA.

I truly enjoyed the main house and the art loft. Both were very clean and welcoming. The houses were well equipped with almost everything we needed. We found a couple of nearby grocery stores to accommodate the remaining necessities. I will definitely choose this property on my next visit to southern California.

My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our 4-night stay in the guest house last week. The bed was quite comfortable, and my son was fine sleeping on the modular sofa. The guest house is a pleasant, attractive, sun-filled place to hang out and relax, and spacious enough that my son and I were comfortable without feeling crowded (although the bathroom is quite small). The well-stocked kitchen allowed us to do some light cooking, which we appreciated. We enjoyed the enormous selection of books and magazines. The location is great: a quiet, shady street and an easy walk to Venice Beach and shops. Jane responded quickly to questions and was quite accommodating. This was our third visit here; on two previous occasions we rented the main house for family gatherings (including Thanksgiving 2015) and the main house was perfect for us. We'll definitely be back.

I can't say enough about the home's owner, Jane . (And her housekeeper Lorena too). Jane was always prompt with her responses to my many inquires and provided very complete and helpful information. She went above and beyond to make our stay successful and leave only positive memories . We really enjoyed our week in this home. As described. it was clean, well appointed and centrally located . Venice restaurants by the way are excellent. We loved Superba, Hals and GJelina.
I would stay here again.

Not only is the property well located and is light filled and comfortable, but Jane has thought of everything you could possible need from bikes to books, fans to heaters. Our friend, an LA chef, made us dinner one night and was astounded at how well equipped the kitchen was. And, I would guess the lovely weathered dining table has hosted many wonderful get- togethers making for lasting memories.
Everything was exactly as stated in the description and shown in the photos.
We would definitely recommend it.

This listing gave a good picture of the property. All was in very good condition when we arrived. The owner was responsive and helpful at all times. The kitchen was very well-equipped. Open living/dining/kitchen was lovely for gathering family members throughout our stay. Our rehearsal dinner was at Willie Jane, where the food was excellent. Also enjoyed dinner at Feed and brunch at the French Market?(I forget the name!) just down the street, which has great food and nice patio seating. I appreciated the quiet neighborhood, back and front porches. There were 6 of us staying in the house, and all were very happy with the accommodations. There was enough space for quiet naps when that was necessary! Recommended!

We stayed a few nights and enjoyed the beautiful and quiet space. Inside the decor is tastefully done ~ simple and elegant. It was clean and cozy and the beds were very comfortable! Outside is beautifully landscaped with chairs to sit and enjoy the flora and fauna. One can walk down the road to a country stable and check out the animals and go up and see a beautiful view. I would recommend this jewel of a place to stay!!

The house was charming and very clean. I was staying with my parents and brother who were visiting Los Angeles for a family wedding from overseas. Being walking distance from Abbot Kinney was very convenient, which has the great Intelligentsia coffee not to mention lots of good food and fun shops to browse. 10 min tops to the airport was a big perk. Venice beach was a long walk and not worth it, a really cheesy and trashy part of the beach. Santa Monica is better and Malibu is breathtaking. Fortunately Santa Monica was only a 5 minute drive and we really enjoyed eating at The Lobster by Santa Monica pier. I live in Echo Park and because of the distance I probably would stay in Malibu to be by a better part of the beach but I would be happy to recommend to a friend or family member.

I stayed at this wonderful home for three nights in July with a group of friends.
The home is beautiful, comfortable, and well-appointed. It gets a lot of natural light and, with the doors open, usually has a nice breeze to regulate the temperature. It had all the amenities we needed for our stay, and everything worked as expected.
This house is easily accessible by foot to the happening stretch of Abbott Kinney, the canals, the beach, and the area where Washington runs into the beach. All are a pleasant 10-20 minute walk, or a short drive/taxi of about a mile.
Lastly, Jane is a fantastic owner who is responsive, accommodating and understanding.
I hope to stay here again someday!

The property itself is great - clean, well maintained and equipped, had everything we needed including free wireless internet. Jane, the owner was fantastic. So helpful and always available to answer any queries, getting back to you promptly both throughout the booking process and also once we arrived. Everything was easy, nothing was a problem and the location suited us perfectly, a nice quiet neighbourhood but only five minutes walk from the shops, the restaurants and of course the beach and the boulevarde.
(Small tip for Australians and anyone else who's into real coffee...the best "proper" coffee we found was at Groundworks - there's one on Westminster down by the beach and another one up at Santa Monica food market. They serve good strong coffee from clean espresso machines. As opposed to that hot milky brown stuff they pass off as cappuccinos or lattes at most of the popular American coffee chains.

Sarah and I would love to come again sometime as a special treat. Your loft is beautiful - so spacious and comfortable. It's a real home and we appreciated having all the little extras. It was great to use the bikes to cruise to the pier and the beach. Your street is sheltered and peaceful. The neighbours are smiling and friendly. You have a vast and varied CD and book collection. It really is an oasis. We'll tell our friends.

I had a group of 12 people that stayed within the main house and the guesthouse in July this year and must say that we had an absolutely amazing time.
The house was great with the kitchen and 3 bedrooms all being quite large. The key for us was the outside decking that connected the main house to the guest house. Not only was this area great for sitting outside and entertaining, it was a great little area to enjoy the summer nights, especially with the BBQ.
Jane was absolutely amazing and had everything ready for us as soon as we arrived and ensured that everything was set up with minimum fuss which allowed for our time in the house be completely stress free and enjoyable.
I would recommend the property to small groups, large groups up to 12 people and families all the same. It's a great location, beautiful house and I would have no hesitation staying here again the next time that I'm in LA.

We had a wonderful time in the house very well located to reach Venice beach by walking, to join dowtown by car and to coming back to the airport. Inside the house, it's very nice to live in, very bright and enough spacious to have dinner with several families. We just regret not having spent more time here (so many activities for teenagers: skate boarding, surfing, running, biking...).

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. Jane was very nice and welcoming, and the house itself was exactly how I imagined a Venice home to be - architecturally stunning, light and airy, surrounded by a lush tropical garden. Great interior decor too - lots of interesting paintings on the walls! This house has none of that hoaky vacation rental feel - it's all done very tastefully and stylishly. It was the perfect backdrop our vacation, a beautiful retreat to come back to at the end of long, beach-filled days. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to experience a true taste of Venice.

We had a great vacation and really enjoyed staying at your house. It was a great centre for everything we wanted to do in the LA area. It is close to Venice Beach, the shops and restaurants on Abbot Kinney, Marina Del Ray and Santa Monica. The other essential tourist spots, such as Hollywood, are easily accessible. LAX is quite close by, which is a bonus after an 11 hour transatlantic flight. The house does have a real "oasis" feel to it and I particularly liked waking up to the birdsong every morning.

This is a great place for a family or group that needs 3 bedrooms. The house is homey: everything you need, but nothing fancy. Our family of 7 felt very comfortable. The owner is accessible, the location is convenient, and the neighborhood is charming. Street parking is easy. My favorite feature was the beautiful skylighted ceiling in the living area. It would be a pleasure to stay there again someday.

I rented this house in May 08 for my family, who
came over from Ireland for my wedding. They
loved every single aspect - the house is beautiful,
clean and comfortable, with a beautiful outdoor
upstairs patio, plus a garden, and it is on a lovely
quiet street, yet close enough to the beach. Most
importantly, Jane, the owner, was a total doll who
made everything easy for us. Thanks Jane, my
family have beautiful memories of their time in
Venice!
